Fairly good coverage of routine treatments, cleanings. But if you have anything more advanced, there is a good chance they will deny it. We had a claim denied because my spouse's dentist insisted that a crown should be replaced (dentist's professional opinion). Because the original was not cracked, United denied it - twice. The reviewer was probably not a dentist. This is sort of like United maintaining that people get crowns replaced for entertainment value. Even appeals by the health care provider often get denied.

Individual health care plans through this program are more expensive and not as worth getting since they do not get accepted in a lot of states. I had used this insurance when I lived in a different state so I can say when I was still using it the variety of insurance differed was great in dental, vision and health

Used Delta once in a different state through my husband's insurance for a basic check-up. Was able to find a very nice dentist and they went through everything carefully and explained my situation with patience. Everything was straight-forward.

DETAILS
Refused to cover an implant on the grounds that they "do not have a record of extraction and, therefore, it's a defect the patient was born with." They even supplied a conclusion from a "doctor", someone who doesn't know that if the tooth has never existed, the adjacent teeth would move/expand, and the gap would close which would not allow to install an implant. Crooks.
Delta Dental makes it easy to view and compare its dental plans online with a chart. This allows you to assess your coverage options easily and decide whether or not to pursue more details about plans in your area and their cost.
In contrast, UnitedHealthcare does not offer plan-specific information until you call or provide more details on your location online. While it takes an extra step, you'll see customized results for plans available in your area and what the premiums are. You'll have to do the same to see additional information from Delta Dental.
The opposite is true for group dental insurance plans. UnitedHealthcare offers good, easily accessible general information about its group plans online, whereas you'll have to call Delta Dental or visit one of its state-specific sites for more details.
Both companies offer dental plans designed for retirees. To learn more about these plans, you'll need to input your state to view your options and availability.
The key difference between UnitedHealthcare and Delta Dental is that UnitedHealthcare is better known as a health insurance provider. It also offers vision insurance. Delta Dental specializes in dental and vision insurance.
If you're looking to build a good benefits package for your employees, choosing UnitedHealthcare means that you can find benefits for your employees under one plan. If you want to buy from a company that specializes in dental insurance, Delta Dental has the advantage.
