Christian Credit Counselors (CCC) is a nonprofit agency that has been in business for over 30 years. By providing credit counseling and debt consolidation services, the organization has been able to help over 300,000 Americans get out of debt. CCC has relationships with over 400 creditors in the nation.

The company claims that its unique approach of combining prayer, step-by-step guidance, and educational resources helps clients get out of debt up to 80 percent faster than normal.

The organization offers average fees in the business, is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), and is certified by the FCAA. On the downside, the company is not licensed in every state, is not ISO certified, and is not accredited with the NFCC.

The Good

  • Certified Counselors
  • Good Samaritan Program
  • Fees
  • No Cancellation Fee

Certified Counselors

CCC offers a free consultation with a certified credit counselor. The certified credit counselors on staff work with clients through each step toward financial freedom as part of CCC's counseling service.

These are individuals who you can trust. Certified credit counselors have to take courses and pass tests to prove that their credit knowledge is up to par and up to date. Each certified credit counselor is able to help clients find the best course of action for their debt and financial situation. The company's counselors are certified by the National Association of Certified Credit Counselors (NACCC).

Good Samaritan Program

One unique aspect about CCC is that it offers what is called a "Good Samaritan Program." The program is essentially a free 6-week financial course to help provide consumers with the right tools to create the foundation for financial success.

The program is similar to other programs offered by other companies, except that all of the resources and the program itself are completely free. Other companies will often charge a lot of money for these kinds of programs.

Fees

Christian Credit Counselors requires a one-time setup fee of $49, which just about average for the industry. However, the company does not reveal the amount of its required monthly fee for its debt relief clients.

No Cancellation Fee

CCC does not charge a cancellation fee if a client decides not to continue the program.

The Bad

  • No NFCC Accreditation
  • Not Available in Every State

No NFCC Accreditation

While the company is certified by the Financial Counseling Association of America (FCAA), CCC does not hold an accreditation with the NFCC certifications. This is another accreditation organization in the industry to help ensure quality services.  The company does not hold an ISO certification but is accredited by COA.

Not Available in Every State

The most important thing to keep in mind with CCC is that they are not available in every state, currently only being licensed in the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, District Of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

The Bottom Line

CCC may be a good fit for customers that live in the states where it operates. CCC offers reasonable fees and years of experience. If you qualify, it might also be a good idea to take advantage of their Good Samaritan Program. With that said, the lack of accreditations is not troubling, but consumers should be aware.

Additionally, we would like to see the company be a little more transparent with its information, especially regarding the monthly payment. However, potential clients can learn more cost information during their free consultation.

Christian Credit Counselors is a good option for people interested in Christian debt resolution services. Because of its specialization, it is a worthwhile choice for people considering a debt management program or counseling service. Those seeking a debt settlement program will need to look elsewhere.

CCC was very helpful from the beginning. They have stayed in touch with me, and are available if I need to get in touch with them. I have paid off half of my debt and am winding down to the finish.

Waleed Bassiouni Novato, CA

I started the counseling process with counselor called Gino. I filled all the required forms laying out all the accounts and the debt I owe. I got on the phone with Gino to work the numbers and what accounts are eligible to be enrolled to the program and what not. Then he told me that he will send me couple of emails to review and agree to the final payment plan. But guess what, I received nothing. He didn't get back to me and not calls. Nothing, ghosted. If you can't help or work with me, at least have the decency to let me know, not just ghost a client like that.

Was recommended by a family member. Good service and representative. Sometimes it is hard to find like minded people who have an interest in helping people.

I got charged more than what I would have if I just paid my bills the way that I had money.

Christian Credit Counselors (CCC) outlined our program benefits for Mr. Moss in his signed Debt Management List and Plan. Although CCC successfully reduced Mr. Moss' credit card interest rates by an average of 59%, providing him with substantial savings in interest costs, he canceled the plan 7 months into his 57-month plan. Mr. Moss made great strides while enrolled with CCC, but we do not know what occurred with his debt after his cancellation in April 2020.
