Three Coverage Options

Total Auto Protect offers its clients three protection plans:

  • Total Plus
  • Total Convenience
  • Total Premier

The Total Plus vehicle service contract covers repairs for the engine, transmission, drive axles, electrical systems, cooling, brakes. Additionally, it offers coverage for parts and labor.

Total Convenience covers the same things as the Total Plus plan. It also includes coverage for All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and steering.

Total Premier offers all the coverage the Total Convenience extended warranties offer. It also includes additional coverage for heating, air conditioning, fuel system, Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), hi-tech electronics, the supercharger, and the front and rear suspension.

Plan Features and Perks

Total Auto Protect clients can get their car fixed at any ASE-certified mechanic location, which makes it convenient for clients to find a mechanic they trust.

Total Auto Protect also offers its clients a 30-day money-back guarantee and a price match guarantee. These guarantees help clients get the best price for the coverage they need.

Total Auto Protect is not a third-party seller, which makes it convenient for clients to purchase a plan, ask questions, and file claims easily directly with Total Auto Protect.

All of Total Auto Protect’s protection plans include the following:

Terrible company. Do not use them. I purchased an extended warranty from them and then 6 months later I sold my car. Per TAP’s agreement you are entitled to receive your money back (prorated). They have ignored my numerous requests to receive my prorated money back. I have sent numerous emails to their customer service with no response. I have repeatedly called them and most of the time you are put on hold and no one answers. DO NOT USE THEM!!!

Purchased a warranty in 2024 after my extended vehicle warranty ran out. Did not have to use it until now. I have been on the phone 4 times within the last two days trying to reach someone in claims. All I do I listen to hold music until I get disconnected. I have sent an e-mail requesting assistance. Still no response. Looks like I am going to have to pay for this repair out of pocket and hopefully get reimbursed at some point. Been reading the reviews across the Internet and apparently this company is not good at all. I am hoping for the best.

This company is absolutely horrible! I've been trying to reach them since June 2024 (over 6 months). They rarely answer calls, and if they do, you get put on hold indefinitely. Their system hangs up on you consistently after holding for exactly one hour. They do not respond to emails. And while they list a Delaware address, I received a response to my formal complaint with the Delaware State Attorney General that they do not operate in Delaware and therefore have no authority. Numerous complaints have been filed on the Better Business Bureau website, under the name Total Auto Resellers, that they don't answer, don't respond, don't follow-up and repeatedly deny legitimate claims. They never responded to my own formal BBB complaint. They also appear to operate under various names: Total Auto Protect, Total Auto Resellers, TotalAuto or Total Auto Services LLC. This company claims to be the best and fastest growing in the industry, and they take their payments in a lump sum up front, but yet they can't respond to their customers or honor their warranties.

Don't trust the BS this company is spewing. Once they get your money you won't be able to contact them again. I am still going to pursue any way possible to recover the money I'm out due to this scam. My advise is don't even consider dealing with these jerks.

I would not recommend them to anyone. I purchased a warranty, May 2022 a five year warranty 60 months or 150,000 miles my car only has 24,744 miles on it. My alternator went out Total Auto Protect sent me a new one and I had it installed on 8/30/24 and they were supposed to pay for diagnostics and labor which total $360 that I was told would be refunded back to me in 30days today is 12/2/24 and I have not been reimbursed I have made many calls since 9/30/24 The receptionist said they have a high call volume and someone will call me back within 24 hours never did now when you called them your put on hold for a long time then you have to leave a message that no one ever gets back with you this was my first time using my auto warranty I paid $1800 for nothing I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau Total Auto Protect did not respond to them and now with the Attorney General of Delaware next step is to file a court case.

I wish I could give a rating lower than 1. This company is truly the worst of the worst. Before purchasing a policy for my Maserati, I confirmed that things like the radio, speakers, screen, engine, started, etc were all covered and was told they were. Well, about one year later, my car experienced some type of electrical malfunction that left the radio, screen and one speaker not functional. They completely denied all 3 claims. So, in Feb '24 I emailed (as per the contract) to cancel but as of today (10/29/24), I still do not have my refund. They will look for every possible "exclusion" so as to exclude whatever you need replaced/repaired and then if/when you demand a refund, they take forever. I've been trying to cancel my warranty for over 8 months and still don't have a refund. It took them six months to get me the cancellation form and then they say on the cancellation form that it can take 60 BUSINESS days for a refund....that's 3 months. The owners of this company must truly be the scum of the earth. They take advantage of those who trusted them. RUN. RUN. RUN!!!! And NEVER consider Total Auto Protect. They are some of the best scam artists I have ever encountered in my 60 years. Run and do not look back!!!

This is the worse company I have ever done business with. I sold my car and cancelled the TAP policy on July 22, 2024. TAP quickly replied that I was due a refund of the unused premium. They charged a $250 and $50 fee to cancel the policy. Per their own email, they had 60-days to return my premium. As of over 90-days now, they have not returned the premium, answered a phone call, responded to an email or anything. Every time I call them, their phone answering system times out and directs you to leave a message. Problem is they do not know how to return a phone call. The only time I got someone to answer the phone is when I called their sales department. They are always willing to sell you a policy. Based on my experience that is where their service stops. I only selected one star because there are no negative numbers. This company sucks at the lowest level.

We purchased our warranty, paid the $5000 to start our plan. We filed one claim over the last year and it was easy BUT now, phone numbers are disconnected or no longer in service. Email is not longer valid, my customer services rep email is no longer valid and no way to reach them. This is horrible and I feel like they took our money and ran.

They told me that they would refund my payment if I canceled within 30 days. I canceled on the same day I purchased the policy and they have not refunded my money. This company is a scam. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM!!!! Samuel T sounded honest, but now he will not even answer his phone.

Several Attorney Generals in several states are going after TAP. They picked up and moved or opened a new company in Sheridan Wyoming. Same number but the owner of the company to file a Secretary of state filing gave them false phone numbers and addresses. It looks like they are working out of a front with the address being an address front only. Like a Post office box with suite numbers.

Well the company I'm dealing with called Total Auto Protect is not the one of all the rave 5* reviews. Mine is one who doesn't return countless calls or emails-that's if they condescend to pick up the phone at all. As for my claim...well buyer beware, because what they DON'T cover is way more extensive than what they do. Check their policy VERY CAREFULLY you will discover that their coverage is highly selective-to the point of being almost worthless. Anyway my claim was eventually agreed, after weeks if not months, of zero communication and the promise of a check 'within two months.' (In contrast to the 30 seconds it took them to take the premium from my credit card). So today, nine weeks later, and after 45 minutes holding on the phone and never talking to anyone that could help, here's my take on the Total Auto Portect. DON"T GO NEAR THEM!

There are literally dozens of complaints from past customers who canceled their service early for various reasons, only to have this company refuse to pay the refund. I am one such customer. I canceled in February of 2024. After numerous phone calls and countless empty promises I received no results. They even lied and said it should have been returned to my original payment method. After which I was promised a check in the mail. I was placed on hold and left there for 15-20 minutes at a time, repeatedly, passed from department to department, and ultimately hung up on. Despite writing a letter to make them aware of my intentions, I received no response. I was subsequently forced to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and to this day, I have yet to receive any resolution or even a phone call. I fear I will have no other choice but to sue this company in small claims court to retrieve my almost $3000. I do not recommend this company to anyone. Their behavior is unscrupulous and far from professional. I dread to think what would happen if you actually had to make a claim.

They literally cover nothing that your purchased warranty packet clearly states. This is the 2nd time I have tried to reach out for an issue with my car. They say they have system issues and that is why they take so long to respond. They will never respond to your emails. When you call in and a lady takes your name and number, they will never call you back. When your dealership sends in the claim, you have to call in yourself every day and pray you actually catch someone on the phone. They will tell you they will call your dealership later, and they won't. Then when you finally get them to call your dealership, they will deny everything and make up lies as to why it is denied.

Runnnnnn as fast as you can , hang up the phone they lying . I’m going to tell the world about this company the reviews are fake , they only taking your money and when it’s time to file a claim they are not the same people u we’re dealing with in the beginning. You will not get a contract thank God after calling 5 times I finally received it. Now they are threatening online to file legal action yet another lie don’t believe them I’m telling the truth and they are BIG mad that I’m not blind to this company deceit to consumers . I have all my documentations to prove I just purchased the vehicle I have proof I had an inspection done before I got the warranty . I had no damages nothing was wrong with the vehicle and I also have the contract to prove you guys breached it.. Lied on the dealership which is why I put you guys on the three way together. Send your lawyers this way so we could discuss how to settle the breach of contract . I’m waiting

Worst customer service I've seen in a long time. All I wanted was a confirmation email that I cancelled the service within the satisfaction guarantee period. Called at least 15 times and send several emails, voicemails, but no callback. The 844 and 888 numbers isted in the emails will not work. John M. is a rep who is all sweet when signing up, became the worst rep after signing up. Will not send an email of cancellation, gets very upset when asked for an email confirmation. Also talked to Matthew in the billing department. Both Mattew and John say 'you want an email cancellation confirmation for $100?" I sincerely believe that all the positive reviews are made up by bots. No way the way they talk to customers will earn any positive reviews that they gloat over every 1 min of conversation.

BUYER BEWARE !!!!! Claims doesn't answer phone calls or emails - it's Impossible to get a response from them. Paid in full for a premium package almost two years ago and now we are having major issues with my vehicle; Myself or Chevy can't get a hold of anyone at Total Auto Protect to approve the claim. This is FRAUD !!! SO FRUSTRATING !!!! BUYER BEWARE - SCAM COMPANY FOR SURE.

Absolutely the worst company to deal with. They will be very helpful to sell policies but wont service them. Advised can cancel policy which I did. Company claims check has been sent 4 times! Have had 45 contacts with this company and never can get a answer to questions. Supervisor Charles assured would take care of issue on 4 occasions and still not resolved.

Even though they have a 30-day money-back policy, I emailed them twice asking them to refund my deposit, they just won't and refuse to refund my money! Hi, Just want to say, please all that are thinking of buying with this company READ THE FINE PRINT, they claim alot of things and say all is covered when in reality its not, example, they claim superchargers or turbos covered, yes, internal parts anything else controlling or in the turbo system is not, very vaigue on alot of things. lights or electrical not covered, radio or in car gps not covered, alot of non wear and tear items are not covered. Please read carefully, Salesman promised alot was covered that later reading page 14 of contract is not!!! BE CAREFUL!!!

TOTAL SCAM! PAID REVIEWS! BE AWARE! Please if you are in search of a real, valid, insurance company KEEP LOOKING!!! They denied the only claim I ever made without a reason whatsoever, arguing back and forth and making up excuses to get away with it. $5,000 policy and they didn't even cover a legitimate compressor replacement.

I have been a customer for over a year. 3 Claims filed 3 Claims denied. Customer service will not work with you, and will not cover parts listed in the contract as covered parts. Be aware of Faulty VS Wear in contract. They will not cover your parts.
