I am so disappointed in American Family Insurance. I have been with them for over 7 years. I had two very small claims with them in the last few years, but never anything big. They had been great up until recently. A few months ago I was rear-ended in a no-fault state I was traveling in for work. They were determined to be responsible for my medical bills and were awful to deal with. I am still fighting them daily. Then I received a letter that they are terminating my auto insurance coverage in January. I couldn’t believe it. American Family is great until they have to pay for anything.

I signed on with American Family Insurance immediately when they arrived in Ohio. My first claim was handled by a outside adjusting firm. A engine fire in a T&C Chrysler minivan. Told the adjusting agent ' give me my day old battery, cover my costs'. No! Okie Dokie sweetheart! So 4 months at the Chrysler dealer, 4months of a minivan rental, 7600 miles later, $8550 for a $2580 claim American Family Insurance started their own adjusting group. Cheaping out ALWAYS PAYS OFF!

I had to deal with this company in an accident claim. Their client ran over me with her car while I was riding my bike. They refused to admit fault for their client and consistently wanted to argue that I was in the wrong for riding where I was. I had to do my own legal findings and kept submitting them to their claims department to even have them finally pay for anything. I still have a large scar on my leg because they only would pay medical and not pay for any reconstructive to make my leg look back to normal.

They were not helpful at all during the accident in which my husband's car was hit and the other driver's insurance company didn't pay out. We are still battling with it 7 months later.

Did an online quote the other day and it is not going to save me any money so there is no since in switching. The chat feature with customer service was every helpful. They walked me through all the option they had with full coverage insurance verses liability. I heard good things about them. I just can’t afford it.
