The Good

  • Transport
  • Eco-Friendly
  • Elvie App

Transport

One of the benefits of both the Elvie Pump and Elvie Trainer is how easy they are to transport. The Elvie Pump’s unique design allows for wireless breast milk pumping, making it easy to pump on the go. The breast pump is designed to fit snugly and comfortably over the breast and can even be concealed under a regular shirt. Some Elvie customer reviews have mentioned the Elvie Pump can be used while walking the dog or driving a car.

While this feature is most prevalent in the Elvie Pump, the Elvie Trainer comes with a sleekly designed case to keep it safe and discreet during transport.

Eco-Friendly

Both the Elvie Trainer and Elvie Pump are made out of materials that can be washed and reused. The Elvie Pump removable components are dishwasher safe and the electronic component can be easily washed down with a washcloth. The milk containers are made of BPA free plastic that can be used over and over to collect milk. This feature is more sustainable than other breast milk pumps that require disposable and non-durable plastic bags to store milk.

Elvie App

Both the Elvie Pump and Elvie Trainer connect to the Elvie app to track the amount of breast milk collected and the progress a woman makes in her pelvic floor exercises. The app allows a woman to see and keep track of how much milk she produces from each breast. She can then see this information later and track how much has been produced.

The app also has a Kegel trainer capability with games that a woman can follow with the Elvie Trainer to track her progress and make pelvic floor training fun and interesting. This pelvic floor exercise strengthens the pelvic floor muscle, or Kegel muscle.

The Bad

  • Bright Light
  • Syncing to the App
  • Price

Bright Light

Although the Elvie Pump is portable and more discreet than other breast pumps that use all sorts of tubes, it’s not completely inconspicuous because of a bright light. The company says that a woman could conduct a meeting during a pumping session, but a bright light that shows that the device is powered on would shine through many types of shirts.

Syncing to the App

Some Elvie user reviews have stated that syncing to the Elvie app isn’t always perfect. Users of the Elvie Pump have said that the app will sometimes stop accurately recording how much milk is really going into the containers, either over or underestimating the real total.

Users of the Elvie Trainer have also said that the device doesn’t accurately record the muscle pressure on it. The Elvie app tells a woman how accurately she is performing each of the muscle exercises, but sometimes it will record an incorrect pressure as a correct one. This could result in a woman damaging her pelvic floor through repeated incorrect Kegel exercise.

Price

These products are new innovations in the world of women's health and the price definitely reflects that. The Elvie Trainer is priced at over $100 and the Elvie Pump is priced at over $200 for a single pump. These products are premium products that are not something that every woman can afford.

The Bottom Line

Both the Elvie Pump and the Elvie Trainer seem to be very well made products that might have some connectivity issues with the app. The convenience of the Elvie Pump is a great innovation among breast pumps, and the Elvie Trainer is a great new product to promote women’s health.
