Community Tax hires tax professionals such as Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), enrolled agents, and tax attorneys, and assists with issues with both federal IRS and state taxes.

In addition to tax resolution help, the company offers tax return preparation, accounting, bookkeeping services, and other great options for customers (such as IRS tax levy relief, IRS tax lien relief, and help with applying for an IRS Offer in Compromise). Community Tax's average cost is between $2,500 and $3,000. While the fee for Community Tax's services is high, it is competitive for the industry. Many IRS Debt Forgiveness Options

Most tax relief companies provide a variety of different IRS debt forgiveness options. Community Tax offers an in-depth explanation of its IRS debt forgiveness program and the different services involved.

  • Offer in Compromise—A good option for taxpayers who are currently having financial difficulties. The IRS determines the maximum amount that the taxpayer can pay without causing financial hardship. The remainder is forgiven and once the amount is paid, the taxpayer is released from IRS tax liability.
  • Installment Agreement—This allows the taxpayers to pay off their balance over a period of time.
  • Streamline Installment Agreement—This agreement allows taxpayers to finish payment on a large expense such as a car or child support payments. This plan divides the payments into a schedule.
  • Partial Pay Installment Agreement—This payment plan is complicated and requires the taxpayer to disclose all financial information. The taxpayer is put on a payment plan for ten years and pays lower taxes overall.
  • Traditional Installment Agreement—This agreement is a simple installment plan: the taxpayer pays the entire tax debt over many payments. The amount is divided into monthly installments over a period of time, up to a 10-year statute of limitations.

Community Tax provides solutions to common tax problems, like back taxes, penalties, and bank levies.

Educational Resources

Community Tax offers several educational resources to help those who owe back taxes, including a tax form library. This library contains all the different types of tax forms with explanations on how to accurately fill them out.

A customer can request any of the forms and receive instructions for each form. This will help those who struggle to comprehend tax returns.

Community Tax also has a page dedicated to common tax terms and definitions (such as tax liability, non-collectible status, land trusts, tax preparer, taxing authorities, etc.). The definitions provide real-life scenarios for deeper understanding.

Community Tax also has a tax blog that contains interesting posts about different financial topics. Many posts focus on tax tips and tax law, however, the blog also covers basic financial advice. Its breadth extends to money savings secrets and small business finances.

Services

Tax debt can affect your financial stability, especially if the IRS has begun to assess penalties. The Community Tax IRS Debt Forgiveness program entails a full service, one-stop tax service. It offers a plethora of tax services and agreement options. Services that are offered include the following:

  • Tax resolution services
  • Tax preparation services
  • Accounting services
  • Bookkeeping services
  • CTAX monitoring services

CTAX’s tax relief services are a two-step process. Initially, the company requests information from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), or state taxing authority, and compares it to the client’s records.

This allows Community Tax to determine the best course of action based on the tax situation.

The tax resolution phase involves determining a solution and submitting a proposal to the proper taxing authority. The company maintains open lines of communication with its clients during this process.

For more detailed information on how Community Tax would help your tax debt situation, take advantage of the free consultation. During the consultation, you'll hear an assessment of your case, how Community Tax will help you with your tax bills and debt, and get more detailed information about the cost of relief services.

Community Tax's monitoring services are designed for individuals and businesses. The basic version of the service is free. It allows taxpayers to keep track of what's going on with their taxes before tax season starts, which makes it easier and faster to adjust withholdings to ensure that you won't owe the government when tax season comes. The monitoring also helps taxpayers avoid potential issues later.

Tax Forgiveness Professionals

When customers with IRS tax debt choose to work with Community Tax for their tax relief needs, they can expect to receive service from licensed and dedicated tax professionals.

Community Tax's team consists of CPAs, tax attorneys, enrolled agents, and tax investigators. It offers individualized tax services and all clients are given a personal practitioner to work on their case.

A certified public accountant can help clients with accounting, bookkeeping, and tax prep during tax season. Certified tax preparers can also assist with tax prep. Depending on your situation, your taxes could be simple or complicated. If you have a more complex tax situation, it can be a good idea to work with a tax preparer to prepare taxes to ensure that you get the right refund.

With an experienced tax attorney or enrolled agent on your side, you'll have the know-how to defend yourself from an IRS audit or IRS debt penalty.

The experts at Community Tax can help customers with the following tax relief options:

  • Notice of Deficiency
  • Fresh Start Program
  • IRS Installment Agreement
  • Offer in Compromise
  • Innocent Spouse Relief
  • IRS Payment Plan
  • Penalty Abatement
  • Stair Step Agreement
  • Currently Non-Collectible Status
  • Help with Unfiled Tax Returns
  • Help with Tax Lien Issues

An installment agreement sets up a payment plan to pay your full tax debt over time. An offer in compromise settles your tax liability with the IRS. The settlement is typically paid in a lump sum.

Taxpayers may qualify for innocent spouse relief if the tax debt results from their spouse's choices alone and they were unaware of these decisions. This option removes penalties, like wage garnishments, tax levies, and tax liens, from an innocent spouse.

When clients sign up with Community Tax, they have the option to give Community Tax the power of attorney. This means that the professionals at Community Tax will make correspondences on the client's behalf.

These professionals can help you fight an IRS tax lien, tax levy, wage garnishment, and any other tax relief service available. The tax professionals at Community Tax often lead to high customer satisfaction and high numbers of positive Community Tax reviews.

Availability

Community Tax offers services in 48 states, as well as the Virgin Islands and D.C. While this is great for almost all US taxpayers, if you live in North Dakota or Minnesota, Community Tax won't be able to help you with tax relief services.

The Bad

  • Published Results
  • Limited Cost Information

Published Results

Community Tax offers very limited published results on its website. Published results aid customers in their decision-making process.

Published results can show what an average customer's experience with the company is and that the program is worth the investment and time.

Published results can also give potential customers much-needed information about how long it will take to see results and what kind of results are possible.

Limited Cost Information

Community Tax does not have base prices on its website for IRS or state tax debt relief. So, how much does Community Tax cost? Our research has discovered that the estimated average price range is between $2,500 and $3,000.

Potential customers must call or sign up for a quote in order to get a more exact price. This can be difficult for potential customers while shopping around for prices from different companies with tax debt relief services.

Community Tax states that its price depends on the circumstances, but without an expected range, a customer can be left with more questions than answers.

This is standard for the tax relief industry because some tax problems involve more intensive service from a tax professional than others.

During the free consultation, potential clients can receive clear information about the fee for the services provided.

gavel

The Bottom Line

Community Tax employs IRS enrolled agents, attorneys, and CPAs to help the struggling taxpayer catch up on unpaid taxes, unfiled tax returns, and find opportunities for an exemption status. As such, CTAX has the expertise to handle anything from income tax issues and property tax relief cases to innocent spouse relief cases.

While we would like to see Community Tax be more transparent about general fees, availability, and results, Community Tax has a lot of great features. Community Tax has professionals and options to help its customers with all of their tax needs. It offers solid educational resources and monitoring services to help customers avoid additional issues with taxes in the future.

Community Tax also offers tax preparation services as a preventive measure for its clients. Having your income tax return completed by a certified tax preparer or CPA will help ensure that the filing is done correctly.

While it is still suggested that customers find the best company for their individual needs, we can recommend choosing Community Tax as your tax resolution firm, whatever your tax problems are.

Do not fall for this company.they bring you in with a nice line saying how much they can help and all the contacts they have at the IRS and how they can get you the best deal and how their team will be in touch with you making sure that you have the best information to help your case in the end there is lack of communication they’re making final decisions without your consent or consideration and you actually end up paying more with the fees that are added on. In my opinion it’s best to do this on your own and skip the added fees charged by community tax. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone I know. If you have not signed a contract with them I suggest you do it yourself

The company stated that they could help lower the interest and penalties. All they did was set me up on a payment plan that more than triple in two years which I will not be able to pay. I have been trying to reach someone for almost two months and cannot get a response. I am a disabled senior citizen on a fixed income. The company has not provided the services they advertised.

They were the worst company. They never would contact me and let me know. They said they would leave a voice mail, they've asked me for my address at least a hundred times. I can get no answers. I've had like twenty different case managers and every one of them would give me a different story. No one knew what they were doing and when I would ask what was going on, I would get one story here and another story there. It was never the same.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! TIRED TO SCAM ME!!! They called me repeatedly trying to get me to pay them $20,000.00 once they checked to see how much money I made claiming/lying that I owed the IRS money cause I had not filed in a few years. A COMPLETE LIE! After I contacted the IRS myself, and double-called confirmed, I owed the IRS zero dollars!!! Stay away!!

Mahmud,
We would never attempt to scam any taxpayer. Also, the fees for our services we offered you were less than a quarter of what you stated here. However, as a courtesy we will be contacting you explain why we offered you the services and why you need to be mindful of what could happen with the IRS. It will be strictly information you can utilize for yourself.

Horrible turnover rate, horrible response when you need help, they don't provide a service you can't perform on your own and perform with ease on your own. They are very easy to get ahold of up to and including the minute you pay.

Do not do business with Community Tax they are a waste of time. Let me start from the beginning, 2 years I contacted them because I owed 15K to the IRS so I contacted Community Tax so they could help me reduce my liability with the IRS, well after paying $4000 and taking 2 years what was the result? They negoiated a payment plan with the IRS it was $280 a month x 9 yrs for a total of $30,240 plus the $4000 loan for a grand total $34,240 from a intial balance of $15,000 owed to the IRS. If anyone reading this can conclude how Community tax help me please let me know. By the way I am on Social Security and I decided to contact the IRS directly and I was able to talk to them and got my penalty reduced by $3000 and I have decided to amend 2 of the tax years they did.....so folks do not waste your time and money these jokers at Community Tax are not doing anything you cant do yourself the IRS are quite reasonable and are willing to work with you, you just have to reach out.

I contacted Community Tax a year ago for help with extremely behind taxes because I had heard that they could help. Community Tax people have had very little contact with me unless I reached out to them. I can’t recall how many representatives I have had to speak to. I was told from the beginning to not contact IRS but to send all and any tax notices to their office and I have done this thoroughly. I was paying $250.00 a month for help but for what? I haven’t had any help. In the amount of time I thought I was being helped in negotiations I wasn’t at all. I sent the most recent IRS letter of intent to levy to the representative India and she said “they typically send letters as scare tactics”. Well, I scared because after just now hanging up with IRS I was informed the a levy will begin on my bank accounts as well as retirement and my home. I am in a worse position now with IRS before I started. No negotiations were made to reduce taxes or lower monthly payments. Evidently $60,000 is owed and a $900.00 a month payment was figured by community tax. What have you done to help me. Also, a month ago I stopped making the $250.00 monthly payment because I was getting no invoice for amount owed to your office or again, anything being done to help. Very disappointed and would not recommend.

Salesmans last words after he hung up on me "good luck taking care of your taxes, you won't be able to." Upon the second call back, after the initial $250 down payment where they basically do what any person with time can do for themselves (which is get in touch with the IRS); Chris called 45 minutes late, advised me that he could help me but the payment was 3K. I told him I had just been furloughed. He said that would help me. I said I needed time since he called late and I had a meeting to get to (furlough meeting). He said "well you're in collections so..". Suffice to say I felt pressure to say yes but still asked for a day, we left that call with a "call me back tomorrow to confirm". Suffice to say he did not wait. I emailed and called back as soon as I received the email from an unknown rep with an invoice. I then get the call back from Chris where I ask for my money back and he hung up on me with those words. I am disgusted by this company. I'll be taking this to every forum I can. Unless you have no time, run a small business or rent properties I can't see why you would hand over your money to these people. But beyond that, the decorum and treatment of just recent furloughed single mom during a pandemic is abhorrent. Please do not give these people your money if you have time on your hands. The IRS will work with you. Do not believe the lines these salesman ram down your throat. Once they start with "oh well your in collections" this is a clear sign they just want your money. They would not pressure you as such if they were a company acting in good faith.

I was assigned to a "senior analyst", Judith R. She had me rush over my tax returns for theist few years. I did that over the phone with her, same day/time as the request. She was very insistent that in then interest of tie, we should schedule an appt the next day, after she showed my docs to the legal team. She never called me or email'd me at our scheduled appt. The next day after she missed our appt, I called to speak to her manager. The manager "was in a mtg, but would contact me in 48 hrs." I asked repeatedly for the managers name and that I would be happy to call back to speak to the manager. But they said it is their protocol the manager has to reach out to me within 48 hours. This is a scam! They want my money but they can't even keep one appointment? And they didn't even have the courtesy to let me know they were going to stand me up, either before or after.I asked repeatedly for the managers name and that I would be happy to call back to speak to the manager. I would like to update my review of Community Tax . Community tax was very aggressive when I 1st contracted with them, after a long and arduous & sometime acrimonious dialog with advocates and representatives at Community tax they negotiated a settlement with the IRS. I was not pleased and I expressed my displeasure. They renegotiated a new resolution for me which I accepted, but not the best for me. All I want to say is do your home work get quotes from at least 4 of these Tax resolution companies before you contract with any of them . In closing contact THE IRS 1st to see what they can do for you, They are not the Monsters they are portrayed to be In the advertisements of the tax resolution companies ads

Called after hearing the ad on the radio with the expectation that this would be a company that could help me with my back taxes and I filed taxes.. I knew I had not filed in a couple years and needed help doing so.. with a busy life and being a single father of two I figured this would save me time from sitting in an office somewhere.. the lady made it seem like my expectations were correct and they would be filing and investigating everything.. after paying $500 I get a call saying I needed to file my taxes for the past years that we’re not (which I already knew).. the guy then said it was to protect me from the IRS I explained I live in an apartment and don’t own anything, why would I give someone $500 to tell me what I already knew.. completely feel scammed out of hard earn money that I didn’t have to begin with...

All they care about is getting your money. Even breaking the law by trying to make a withdraw from you bank account with your approval. I talked to an agent with Community Tax the beginning of October, 2017. I paid them a $500.00 retainer that day with my Bank debt card. I was contacted about a week later by the same agent. She explained the process they were going to take and the fees for this process. She also gave me a few options of payment. Pay the full amount of $2050.00 or get it paid within 2 weeks. Or pay $2250.00 in installments with 10% interest. I told her I needed a little time to see if I could get the money together. She said to call her back when I made my decision or she would call me back around the first of November, 2017. On October 30th. 2017. I got a call from the agent telling me she had a problem drafting their funds. I never agreed they could draft any more funds from my debt card. So I told here off & let her know they weren't authorized to take the funds from my account and I didn't appreciate the way they were doing business. I also told her if that is the way they do business, I didn't need their services. Then ask for a refund of the retainer. Later that day I received an email letting me know my case was closed and they wouldn't be representing me. Since then I have tried to contact the agent, she won't answer my calls. So I have emailed and ask for a refund several times. Only to get a reply she has referred my request to the cancelation department. Not sure if I will ever get my money back. But I will let this site know if I do. So far I believe they are just trying to scam you out of your money. BTW: wanted to give no stars, but had to give them 1 to submit this review.

I called them to help me out of my large IRS debt, after paying mu initial consulting fee, i was told to help me reduced the amount I owed will cost me $3500.00 dollars. Well after paying the fee, one year later they informed that my only options were to either wait out the time period for my debt to fall off, or pay a large monthly installments. The person that informed me of my options was very rude and condescending. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this company, and I feel I’ve been ripped off.

Paid $5,000 in January, taxes were done incorrect with an ex-husband's social security number, absolutely no deductions taken. Redone the second time and I still don't believe all deductions were taken, but I signed them. Had a call regarding financials last month, another call yesterday, asking for my financials again. Was then told I owed 25K more than the amount that was shown on my tax form. I don't even know if they filed them yet! I have a call today @ 10:30 with an attorney, but I'm holding my breath.

Community Tax completely failed to help with my tax debt. I had lost a job with a six figure income and was unemployed for 2 years, exhausting savings and 401k, and creating a huge tax debt. When I was able to find a job paying $12/hour, I retained Community Tax in an effort to reduce my tax debt. They failed to resolve any of the debt, despite my hardship, and they’re ‘resolution’ has left me with financially crippling payments to the IRS. The penalties and interest are still compounding. I didn’t get a penny of help from the $8,000 they charged up front for my case. Avoid them.

We were charged around $10,000 for help with our State and Federal taxes During a two year period we had at least 7 different people working in our problem They never contacted the State since the State kept putting a levy on my Bank account, which caused us to miss a payment ,but missing a payment had them calling ASAP We have found out after the fact that they never calked the State and contacted IRS once over are three year ordeal. Now we are having our wages garnished. Great job

Did nothing to help. When I ask about deductions and paying high rates he said you make x amount of money I only make a 1/3 of what you make".

Initially just calling for information I was treated as if I was bothering the woman by asking her my second question . She was very short , rude I felt and unprofessional. Almost makes me glad I'm not going to be doing business with them.

I enrolled in Tax community last Friday. The “investigation fee” was $295. Well, I fell for it. All they did was call the IRS and get my taxes owed amount and the years I didn’t file. They literally charged me $295 for something I could have taken 45 minutes to do myself. This place is a scam.

Jason,
We are sorry you feel this way. However, our investigation fee and system literally saves taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars each year by having us do the due diligence of verifying everything on a taxpayers behalf. Oftentimes our investigations will uncover issues the taxpayer did not know about because we know what questions to ask and how to investigate deeper than just debt amounts owed or whether there are missing tax returns. Your investigation came out well comparatively speaking, however, claiming we are a scam is completely incorrect and false. We also offer our money back guarantee if there is nothing we can do to assist a taxpayer. We will contact you to discuss this further.
Community Tax.

This is a terrible company they told me and my husband that they could help reduce our IRS debts . They are very hard to get in touch with and they took our money and have not kept the promises of helping us negotiate with the IRS, These positive reviews are lies and do use this company.

Ciro,
We are sorry you feel the way you do. It was explained to you on your first call that there was a fee to do an investigation. For which we contact the IRS on your behalf to get the full story on your situation. Once we have that, our licensed practitioners put together a plan for resolving your issue that best suits you, based upon the information you provided to us.

At that point we review our proposed plan with you and you can choose to move forward with the second phase and have us resolve your tax issues. In your case you chose not to move forward, which is perfectly fine, it's your prerogative. The initial fee, as you were informed, was to perform the investigation which we did complete and provided our findings and resolution options. We did not steal any money and would never do that to anyone. We will be reaching out to you to discuss this further.

No waste your money. They charge $500 to give you the same information that you can have on the irs web page. Then they told you that they can fix the debt that you have for $2.000 or more, and the only thing they do is to talk to the IRS to avoid the penalty, you can do that with a tax accountant for $200. You’re welcome!

When I decided not to use them I was told since they could help me and they did they some initial work I would not get that money back. I tried to talk to someone else about it and was told I would receive a call with 48 hours. Nothing!
