The Good

  • High Quality Movies and TV Series
  • Parental Controls
  • Variety of Devices Available
  • HBO Original Series

High Quality Movies and TV Series

HBO has done a great job of making their past and present content available online. HBO Now currently has over 650 high-quality movies and almost 100 TV series. In addition to an on-demand library of content, HBO Now gives you access to stream live episodes and watch big premieres as they air on TV. Some of HBO's most popular content includes: Big Little Lies, Game of Thrones, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

Parental Controls

Parents have the ability to filter new releases, but there are some bugs editing out some of the older television shows and movies.

Variety of Devices Available

HBO Now is available on the following devices:

  • iPad
  • iPhone (iOS app)
  • Apple TV
  • Android phones and tablets
  • Android TV
  • Amazon Fire tablets
  • Amazon Fire TV Stick
  • Web Browser (HBONow.com)
  • Google Chromecast
  • Roku
  • Play Station Four
  • Xbox One

HBO Original Series

In addition to licensed content, HBO Now also has several highly ranked original series. HBO Now has over 125 original series for subscribers to enjoy. These series are exclusive to HBO and will not be available through any other streaming tv service. Overall, HBO Now is a great alternative for someone interested in HBO content but doesn't want to subscribe to cable. It can be streamed on a wide variety of devices and is reasonably priced for high-quality content. Subscribers have unlimited access to all of HBO anywhere (not including all live TV) without a TV provider contract.

The Bad

  • Price
  • Library Selection and Variety
  • Streaming Issues

Price

HBO Now costs $14.99 per month. This is a little more expensive than other streaming services, but HBO Now offers high quality of movies and TV series.

Library Selection and Variety

With HBO Now, subscribers are only going to get access to HBO-driven content. HBO Now doesn't offer the same high volume as other streaming services like Netflix or Hulu. However, they do offer over 650 movies and almost 100 TV series to choose from.

Streaming Issues

HBO Now is known to have streaming issues at peak times. In some cases, users may have to restart the app, their device, or even uninstall and reinstall the app altogether.

Customer Reviews

HBO Now reviews from customers often report that they had a difficult time canceling their service. Some even say that they got charged for their free trial and that HBO's customer service wasn't helpful in resolving the issue. Other reviewers complain that HBO Now often stops to buffer when you are watching a show.

The Bottom Line

If you don't have a current HBO subscription, and you want access to a great deal of HBO content, HBO Now is a great option to satisfy that need. HBO Now is a great way to extend your current cable subscription if you want to drop HBO from your current cable provider. Also, HBO Now can be streamed on a large variety of devices, but the services are not the most competitive if you are looking for a large library of movie options. Though HBO does feature some content that it seems like everyone's talking about, the poor customer reviews speak for themselves. For more information, read some HBO Now customer reviews below. We recommend reviewing the top rated companies before making a final decision.

I became a loyal HBO customer because of Game of Thrones. HBO has created shows such as Game of Thrones that have customers like myself hooked! Because of quality of the content being produced, I will continue to be a loyal customer. I know HBO will continue to produce excellent material.

Love HBO now for those who don't have cable you can still enjoy the benefits of their content. Game of Thrones is amazing original content. Streaming services are great, just don't try to subscribe the day of a big launch otherwise you might experience some down time.

HBO has several of my top favorite shows of all time. They create great original content. I feel like I can pickup and watch almost anything they produce and I will like it. I would say that HBO Now has become my go-to video streaming service. While the search function really needs some help on the xbox, they have the best movies and tv shows available on any streaming service by far.

Seems like the only thing I can binge watch is the buffering circle. I can only watch two shows and then it freezes. Don't try to hit the button to skip intro or previously on said show, it's off to buffer land. It's great when watchable. I pay for ad free. This is THE MOST EXPENSIVE streaming service out there!! This has been going on for years! Why can't you get it fixed? Or is it that you just don't care!! EVERY OTHER STREAMING SERVICE RUNS PERFECTLY BUT THIS ONE!!! I'm about to quit, there's no sense in paying for a premium service and getting a service that's worse than free streaming services.

Love using HBO for streaming tv shows and movies, however for some reason everytime I close it out I have to resign in and readd my payment information. I am overall please with the service I have received through HBO but wish it would get resolved.

HBO has some good stuff, though not enough to keep me interested year-round. I had used the streaming service for a few months about a year ago, and recently decided it was time to use it again for another couple of months. However, once I re-signed up (within minutes of re-signing up), I found that none of the videos would work in my browser. This was frustrating, but I went ahead and called the company right away to see if they could fix it. What I got from the representative that answered my call was not specialized help that really pinpointed my issue, but a long list of obvious and generic potential-problems ("update your browser.... clear the cookies from your browser..."). Upon realizing that the customer support was not going to provide me with any support, and that I would not be able to watch anything without doing research online to see who else was having a problem, I asked to just be refunded. The customer "support" person told me that there was a policy of not giving refunds (!!). I had to insist, and get clearly agitated, for her to transfer me to someone above her. He was unpleasant and chastising. After some arguing, he finally said he was giving me a refund but then expected me to sit on the phone listening to him troubleshoot my problem --as if I would ever need to troubleshoot for something I am never going to use again. He said my refund would not show up until 7-10 business days. I have not received an email yet confirming the refund. (If I do not wind up getting refunded, I am coming back to post another review).

Just to try HBONOW my daughter bought her dad and I two 50.00 gift cards for hbonow streaming. We signed up with the first gift card created the act. First gift card no problem...thinking wow this is a piece of cake. Read all I could find out to see if I could go ahead and also put in gift card#2 The site said yes multiple cards are fine will adjust expiration as cards entered. That's where it starts going down hill. The second card gave service error. I call HBO they said you really must use desktop computer for this. I used my android phone with zero issue the first time. I go and sign in with desk top getting the exact error. I have texted HBONOW for the last two weeks and the problem has yet to get resolved. TWO WEEKS!!! I got a case # but unless I initiate an inquiry I hear nothing. When they do respond. It is the same response. They are sorry about the issue and are aware of it. Not worth the hassle of a subscription so IF they fix the issue they have still lost a potential customer smh.

I love HBO Now, HBO has the greatest movies and excellent original TV shows. I love being able to watch my shows on the go. I also love being able to use it on my Roku. For a long time I had to plug my laptop up to my TV with an HDMI to watch HBO on my TV. A lot easier with the app!

We love our HBO App with our Smart TV. We have DIRECTV so we get HBO for free with our AT&T. But even if we didn’t get it for free we would pay $14.99 for it because we are addicted to Game of Thrones and that is probably the main reason we love it so much!!! Try it out you will love it too!

HBO has some amazing and thought provoking programing ever. Shows like Westworld and Game of Thrones is worth the price of admission alone. Also amazing behind the scenes for shows and characters you can't get anywhere else.

I'm not going to lie. I initially subscribed to HBO Now for Game of Thrones (who didn't?). But then I realized the amount of stuff that was available to me due to the subscription and I loved it. I didn't have to wait for things to come on, on HBO. They were just... There.

Family has HBO on cable and this comes with HBOGO which I assume is the the same as HBO Now minus the cable service. I mainly use it to watch series after they air (Silicon valley, insecure) I absolutely love the content HBO produces and the streaming service is alright just find it annoying how you have to login into your cable provider everytime, though I understand why they would do this to limit the amount of account sharing.

I love HBO now. I stream some great movies and some of my favorite shows (GOT!). Compared to other streaming apps, they tend to have better movies/shows. I wish that they would have more holiday-related movies but the ones they have are pretty good!

I enjoy TV over movies so I will use HBO Now mostly to watch the shows that are exclusive to HBO. I'll periodically subscribe and unsubscribe as I don't take full advantage of the service and isn't worth it to me to consistently pay every month.

I called to get refund on the 9 months that I wil not be able to access MAX and was told that I was out of luck' Life changes but you prepaid so you don't get a refund. Not acceptable. that is theft, I paid for something that they are unable to deliver but they will not refund my money.

NOT WORTH THE EFFORT> I was talked into adding hbo to my Spectrum account for half price for 1 year. there is not enough current content to make it a value even at half price. I was also promised i could stream HBO anywhere with HBOGO as partt of the deal. there were so many hoops to jump thru to sign on to HBOGO it wasn't even worth the efffort to complete the process. After serewing around for an hour the web site is like a list from a windows95 program. their interface sucks. I deleted the app and am trying to get Spectrum to cancel my HBO billing. Stick with Netflix and Prime. way more current contnent and better interface. HBO YOU SUCK

Terrible customer service. I called for a password reset that they claimed they couldn't do for my account because it had already been cancelled, and so I was not able to access the account for the remainder of the month that I had already paid 15.99 for. Frustrated, I signed up for Amazon's HBO Go in the meantime. I asked THREE SEPARATE TIMES for a refund from HBO Now and was told my request would be escalated and I'd hear back from them shortly. But this didn't happen either. On the third time I called, was told my refund was denied and in fact, they could reset my password and that I should try emailing Amazon for a refund request for HBO Go. Incompetent crooks. I will never, ever use this service again and will tell anyone I know who is thinking about signing up about the terrible experience I had with them.

Everyone be careful with HBO Now!! I subscribed for Game of Thrones, then cancelled it after the last season was done. They have been charging me ever since! I unfortunately was not paying attention to my bank statements like I should have and never noticed it. When I finally did, I called them and the gentleman on the phone said that he saw my account was inactive and that he would have to get customer service involved. Later that night I received an email from them asking for screenshots of the charges and the billing zip code. I provided this information and they stated they had no record of me canceling my subscription, and that they now canceled it for me. I didn't understand why it showed my account was inactive and yet, was not cancelled. They asked what email I saw this notification under... um... The one I am currently emailing you on! The only email I have! They continued to argue with me about whether my account was inactive or not and are now refusing to refund my money. After arguing for 2 days over email, they informed me that they would refund 2 months worth. Not the 8 I was due. That they do not give refunds. YOU CHARGED ME AFTER I CANCELLED MY SUBSCRIPTION!! I'm not sure how you will be careful of this, since it will show your account inactive, but I guess call to confirm? It is sad that a company would take advantage of their customers. Thankfully I am not hindered by the amount of money they stole, but someone else might be! What if I cancelled it because I could no longer afford it??

HBO Now sucks! It is NOT the same as cable HBO! If you search for "normal" movies you will find NONE. The only thing you get with HBO Now is access to HBO series' (such as GOT, Big Little Lies, Bill Mahr). You will NOT find other movies that you would find with a cable HBO subscription. HBO Now is extremely limited in it's offerings - what a ripoff HBO! You're just scrwing people left and right (first, abandoning ALL HBO subscribers who use Dish Network, and not the P.O.S. Directv), then you offer a cheesy streaming version that has limited available movies. Tsk, tsk. You just can't treat people like garbage and not realize it will bite you some day...

Here is what pisses me off. I pay for HBO and while I'm watching a movie and an advertisement for another HBO show appears at the bottom left of the screen. Reminds me of watching TBS or some other channel. You would think HBO had more class than to bother their paying customers with extra large words telling you whats coming up next throughout the whole film. If I wanted to see that I could just download movies from the internet for free. HBO you are starting to suck. Whats next commercials? You should take you customers reviews seriously. Keep it up and I will cancel you too. What is this world coming to?

I wish i had more than 40 characters to describe my nightmare experience in trying to cancel my subscription with HBONow. This company scams your money. Do not sign up. They make it nearly impossible to cancel. In my case, 2 accounts were made accidentally due to glitches and error pages on their end. It’s been 8 months and I’ve had to call multiple times to cancel and they will not refund my money even though I’ve never used the subscription because I didn’t know an account was actually created. They tell you to take it up with your credit card company instead of taking responsibility for their fraudulent ways. After 8 months, I’m still dealing with them charging me after they tell me they’ve canceled my subscription. I’m furious and want to start a class action lawsuit especially considering most everyone else has gone through the same thing!

I followed the instructions to cancel my HBO Now sub through my PC. I went to 'billing information' and it said my sub would end by the end of the month unless auto-renew was turned on. I had auto-renew OFF and was unable to access any shows after such date, therefore I thought my sub was cancelled. I continued to be billed. I had to call support and they finally cancelled my sub. The support person couldn't explain to me why my account stated auto-renew was off and I was still being billed. She stated she would have support email me about the issue since she did not deal with those issues. I never got an email. I had to email them about the problem only for a guy named Greg to tell me they have a no refund policy. My account stated auto-renew was off....my sub should have been cancelled but apparently it doesn't matter and they billed me anyway. I don't recommend HBO Now to anyone.

The HBO Now is ruining the HBO brand. It was a nightmare to cancel the service. According to HBO Now, I was supposed to be able to turn off the auto renewal toggle. For at least 2 months, the service was not cancelled even I turned off the auto renewal. When the service continued this month, I called and they recognized there was a problem but they were not sure why that happened. They manually cancelled my service but refused to refund my payment despite it was only a few days past the supposed expiration date citing non refund policy. I escalated the situation to the supervisor and he was not willing to help citing company policy. This is a classic example when a company has a great product that people love but a poor customer service (policy or otherwise) could simply ruin it. The lesson is never use HBO now if you do want HBO. Go through other channel, eg. Apple/Amazon, who has much better system and customer service.

They have a no refund policy when canceling service. I cancel my service a day after payment was processed and they refused to refund saying they have a strict no refund policy, yet their terms and conditions are not clear and sate they don’t give refunds if cancel mid month, so i questioned them saying I cancel my service at the beginning of the month therefor I should be able to get my refund, but they never responded to my inquiries.

I started my trial and soon ended the subscription BEFORE my trial ended.(which states that they won’t charge you if you cancel it before the trial end date). I STILL got charged $14.99 even though I ended my trial session before the date. I’ve called customer service several times to get a refund and they keep saying I’ll get an email if I’ll get approved for a refund or not. This is ridiculous. I’ll never make an account with HBO again. Poor customer service that doesn’t know what they’re doing. Be aware if you sign up for this trial session because they will still possibly charge you.

Pretty much the same bad experience as everyone else. I started a free trial and then cancelled my subscription, I was charged for 3 months since that date. I didn't receive a cancellation email, the toggle button doesn't work on the HBONow website, it said my subscription was cancelled but it turns out that wasn't the case. Also, on their website it says you can cancel at anytime but that's a bunch of crap! You have to jump through hoops just to get your subscription cancelled. They do not offer refunds or take the blame for their faulty website! I was taken advantage of by a greedy company. I've contacted my credit card issuer to dispute the charges!

Hbo Now is the only company or person to get my debit card details. 1-2 days after cancelling my subscription I get a notice from my bank that someone has my card details, but not the expiration date and are trying to purchase $200-300 worth of catering. The card was cancelled and reported stolen after this fraudulent activity was reported to me by the bank. I’ve worked in call centers and know that the CC/debit number stay on file, but not the expiration and/or the 3 digit security code. Basically for this exact reason! So greedy agents can’t get away with full on identity fraud! Also call center managers sometimes like to ‘treat’ their agents by buying them all dinner/lunch. The ones I’ve worked for never used a customers card details though... Pure shameful on HBONOWs part, as a whole allowinng this to happen, not once but TWICE! Again HBONOW is the only company or person to have my card details and this happened 1-2days after I cancel my subscription! So now I wait for a new debit card having to go into a bank for any money withdrawals/deposits and this has hindered our lifestyle. Just for one greedy agent trying to get $270.94 worth of Papa Johns and then try again for $288.57 worth of EZCATER Harleys. This is the type of people they hire to handle your personal details. Never again will I give any details to this fraudulent company and I recommend no one else do it either. Find another streaming source. It’s not worth it.

HBO Now has a policy of no refund, which I think is alright. In my case I registered with my email address and credit card, but I was not able to login. Thinking the registration didn’t go through, I registered again with the same email address and credit card and this time it worked. Later it was noticed that I have been billed twice for the same period and when contacted the customer service, got to know that there was a typo in the email address used for initial registration. Even after identifying the issue, what the customer service executive could do was to repeatedly say “HBO Now” has a no refund policy”. From company’s stand point what he did would be right. But as a customer I feel cheated by billing from same credit card for the same period for the same service and not giving a refund.

I was charged $14.99 two times, one through Amazon HBO that I subscribed and the other through HBO Now that I don't remember subscribing. Regardless, I never used HBO Now or accessed it since I have access through Amazon HBO prime. As soon as I saw the pending charge of $14.99, I contacted HBO Now customer service. I was told that they have a no-refund policy. I asked them how could that be a "refund" since I did not access at all in the first place (another customer representative confirmed that they know that I never accessed. They can look it up). Even then, they are unwilling to refund. I sent them an email but no positive result. This is unacceptable.

At $16 a month I find it baffling how awful HBO has become. I've been subscribed (to watch GoT) for less than a WEEK, and already have had countless problems. From server issues on their end. To their un-intuitive website and player that doesn't resume where you left off during your show. The quality drops and often buffers. You can't jump around with the arrow keys (small, but something every other video player has had for a decade, now). And let's not forget about the ads that play before anything you watch. Even with the highest price of ANY streaming platform, I'm still paying for ads? It's unbelievable how poorly run HBO's streaming operation is, and it's no surprise they're getting slaughtered by Netflix and Hulu. Find GoT somewhere else online for free. Even that isn't worth watching on this God awful website.

Horrible content. Over priced for the very few movies they have. The Leaving Neverland Documentary was pure garbage and I am not a Michael Jackson fan. Very one sided and the people in it are questionable. Just finished watching the documentary on Theranos and again, I think Elizabeth H is the worst of Silicon Valley scum, but again very one sided and they should have interviewed Elizabeth H for the program. HBO Now documentaries comes of like "People" magazine for TV....sensationalized garbage. In addition, when I went to cancel my HBO subscription, the "auto renew" button was not showing up in my settings. I had to call the customer service phone number three times. The first time the phone disconnected. The second time the connection was very bad and the third time I had to listen to the operator fumble with her head set and just about break my ear drum with the sound. They never did help with cancellation of the service as the third operator put me on hold and never came back. I wasted over one hour trying to cancel my subscription. I will be disputing HBO off my credit card as I gave it every effort to cancel my subscription to no avail.

There is no customer service here. Caveat emptor. I signed up for a 7 day free trial which was to end on the 18th in the evening. I called to ensure it was cancelled on the morning of the 18th and they said they “ask” that you cancel 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged. They then informed me that they have a no refund policy so I got screwed out of 15 bucks. This free trial was solely to be a test run to make sure I would be able to watch game of thrones when it came out. Now I just got screwed out of 15 bucks and won’t be able to watch the new season. Thanks so much for being a garbage service HBO. Save your money and look elsewhere. HBO is a dead service as it is. Thanks for nothing.

Signed up for a week's FREE trial. I never could get the codes to work like it's explained. Therefore never got my free trial. This was in February. I noticed my bank statement from April. HBO*GOOGLE charged me 14.99 in for service in April. I called HBO they said I was calling the wrong place. Finally got a 800# that I thought took care of the problem. May comes around another charge for 14.99 . Meanwhile still no service either. Many frustrating calls later I thought the problem was solved. June 8th my bank says I'm overdrawn. Not only did HBO charge me 14.99 for 2 months service I never got but a 35.00 fee for being overdrawn. Not only have four people given me the runaround for two hours they were rude and still they wouldnt cancel because they couldnt verify i was really me. Apparently you can only be you when they steal their 14.99 , for service you don't get each month. Finally after two and a half months I had to call my bank to stop the charges. Never, sign up for the free deal with these people. They had had the nerve to tell they were trying to help me on my last call. They only helped themselves to my bank account. My free trial cost me 29.98 plus 35.00 for an overdraft for not having HBO . TOTAL COST OF NOT HAVING FREE ONE WEEK TRIAL AT HBO, 64.98. And never saw one program.

If I could give negative stars I would. The App always crashes, I have to reinstall to get it to play and then when it finally won’t play no matter the hours of troubleshooting I went through with customer service, they say they’ll get back to me, and they have a strict no refund policy! I say no! Let me speak to your supervisor I’m not spending $14.99 a month on an app that won’t work I want that month’s worth back! All they do is say they will “escalate” this and email me back with a response. Then all I get is an automated “sorry you’re having issues” response. I will get my refund back. Highly do not recommend wasting your money on this company.

My app stopped working, so after trying to uninstall then reinstall without success, I reached out to their customer support… what a joke! Took several communications to get any help, most responses were short, and offered no answers to the questions actually asked. When they finally gave me instructions to try to fix it, I ended up being double billed for several months, when I tried to get them to refund, they said it was not them, I had to contact Google Play. They could not even confirm why I was being double billed or how to make it stop… Google Play was not much more helpful, and I had to finally cancel the subscription and go to my carrier for a refund of the double charges. Total Joke!

I paid for hbo now and thought I wouldn't get ads, since I'm paying $15 a month. Ads before every show. So they are banking off "us" consumers and having people pay for ads. I was bummed with Netflix cuz they didn't update new viewing fast enough... Netflix stepped their game and still cheap and new stuff. When I was younger the shows on HBO were the thing to see. My mind has changed.

Can't get 2 minutes into a movie without it stopping to buffer. It has stopped 3 times already, and I'm less than 7minutes into a movie. If I weren't on a free 30day trial, I would have already cancelled and asked for a refund. This is the worst streaming experience, for the worst price, with the least amount of content. I've had problems with this from day 1 and less than a week later, I'm pretty sure I'll be cancelling before the 30days is even expired. HBO should absolutely feel ashamed at even attempting to offer a streaming standalone service. I don't think it's worth $15/mo, I can't even see myself being okay paying $5/mo. Pathetic is the one word I can safely sum up what an utter travesty this is.

The selection of movies and shows does not change very often and many can be found on other streaming services. Their series are only so-so with short seasons and their alleged "late night" fare is tepid with the same never changing Latino based adult series and only two or three very dumb softcore movies. The largest issue with this service is... the service itself. Constant buffering problems, bad connectivity and playback issues. I have very fast landline internet and I cannot watch more than a few minutes of any movie or other program without having issues. On my wi-fi devices it is even worse. When you talk to customer service they are full of excuses as to why it has to be something on your end of the service that is causing the issue. They don't want to hear anything negative about their service despite the fact I can get faster and better service from their competition. I have cancelled my HBO Now subscription as of today and will stick with Amazon and other higher quality providers.

I really like the HBO shows, and HBO Now has made it so I can watch it on my iPad. I can't get enough of Game of Thrones and True Detective. I just wish I had more time to watch my shows.

HBO has some great shows, but HBO Now is probably a couple years away from being a viable, reliable service yet. Specific shows would not stream on my Roku. When I tried to open Game of Thrones or Oz it went to a screen which said "Retrieving", where it stayed for a few minutes until the app crashed. I contacted support. Almost immediately I got a response. But that response was asking for all kinds of nonsense information. What version of the Roku software did I have? What version of the app? And most ridiculous of all, what was my IP address? It's called a "log file". Look into it. All of that is in the information contained in YOUR server's log files. What's more, most customers don't even know what an IP address is. And if they do, theirs probably keeps changing as most are not static. I responded immediately with all the requested information. EIGHT DAYS LATER I got a second response. They needed MORE information. Log files, guys. Log files. Selection is not bad. If you have a problem, however, it's apparently forever. Support is under staffed and incompetent as far as I can tell. 8 days of being unable to use one of the most expensive streaming services there is with no hint of it actually being fixed yet is ludicrous.

Streaming issues Higher price Smaller library selection Why can't HBO Now model this like Netflix? Piss poor Management? I play Netflix and My Time Warner App on my 2016 Roku TV without the above mentioned issues. Why? Super, top notch Management. Yeah I'll put up with the HBO Now App Issues during the free trail but for Everytime I have Streaming issues the angrier I get and before the free trail is over I'll uninstall it then I'll share my nightmare experience with My Family, Friends, Co Workers Everyone I come in contact with. Now multiple that times thousands. Now ask yourself this Question Management of HBO Now. What will I have to do, What do I need, to model this piss poor app to have 43 Million Subsribers like the near perfect Netflix? Now get to work and fix it. Zero tolerance for blatant Stupidity. Just fix it Now.

The crappiest streaming out there!!! I have all the streaming channels and guess what? They all work EXCEPT FOR THIS ONE!!! Utter, utter frustration! Go to their help page and they'll try to tell you it's your wifi signal- it's not! Couldn't get my favorite series "Sex in the City" to stream for more than a few minutes w/ out buffering endlessly! Found the whole series on Amazon and no problemo! Streamed just fine. Pathetic service and would expect way, way more from a company like this. I've cancelled my subscription twice and now am on my 3rd hoping that they'd have their shit together by now (12/3/16)- THEY DON'T! Save your money and frustration level and just avoid it. Will be canceling 3rd subscription now.

Very limited selection of movies. Also, the movies are not updated fast enough at least for me. I have watched almost all of the movies in the SCI-FI category. Not much has been updated. They do have some really good box office blockbusters along with a mix of lame 1 or 2-star movies. Its seems that along with good content several are not so good thus "watering down" the quality of the content with cheap fillers. If it wasn't for Game of Thrones, Walking Dead and possibly Westworld I would not be a subscriber. So the conclusion is for me to look for other methods to watch my favorite TV shows without feeling ripped off. As for going back to having a dedicated cable or subscriber service, there is about a 99% chance this will never happen. We had been paying almost 200.00 per month. Granted we had just about every movie channel out there to watch. We came to the fact this was a massive waste of money going to the greedy as hell cable companies. 50.00 a month to watch everything would be fair! 50.00 without the added fees, (Allowance for robbery fee, Fee for paying for a fee. Fee for paying with money. Fee for taxes after we already have paid our taxes fee.

Good selection of shows...but they do nt have a resume viewing tab..so it takes forever to get back to the place where you stopped viewing. Also their technical support / customer support iis horrendous. I sat on the phone for 40 mins before it was answered, and then it took me 30 mins, with a very patient customer service person to rectify the problem. However the technical department had finished working ( Friday pm at 6) and would nt be working again till Monday, so I would have to wait till then. Forward 10 days...the problem still has nt been resolved...even after again talking to hbonow customer service...they can t give me a deadline as to when it will be.!! Dreadful?

Yes, $15/month is a little spendy. But for a show, or shows like Game of Thrones, does 50 cents per night to watch really seem that bad? That's my positive point. The negative, is that Roku HBO Go app is pretty decent. Shows you 'snapshots' of future and past video so you have some clue to where you are fast forwarding to. Seriously HBO, who wants to watch 1 minute of the same intro before every show? So, we fast-forward over it. With GO, that's easy. But with 'Now', you have to guess how long to fast forward for, no clue to where you're going to. HBO, PLEASE FIX THIS.

Many users will be aware that HBO NOW was down just as the Game of Thrones episode "The Battle of the Bastards" was set to air on Sunday night. There was the predictable (and perfectly appropriate) Twitter onslaught as many, many fans were unable to watch their beloved show. In our case—and I'm sure many others—GOT is the main reason we pay so much money to subscribe to HBO. In any case, I emailed HBO customer service to ask for them to make amends. (After all, if this had been any other paid event, such as a dinner out at a restaurant or a movie in a theatre, the management of a quality establishment would have both apologized and compensated their viewers appropriately.) I got a boilerplate response that ignored the content of my complaint. When I pointed out that their response was inappropriate, I recieved a second, equally boilerplate response that again missed the mark. I pointed this out again and let them know that I would be canceling my subscription if they did not attempt to recompense me. I received, immediately, a boilerplate reply explaining how to cancel my subscription. No apology, and no attempt at resititution. I will be canceling my subscription before the end of the next pay cycle.

HBO now for roku is awful. I will not be keeping it past the free trial period. Sound and picture have to be adjusted differently to other streaming channels which makes it cumbersome. If you pause during an episode or movie for too long, you can't resume from where you left off (resume option starts the episode /movie from the beginning so you have to scroll through and try to remember where you watched to). Glitchy going from one episode / movie to the next, usually have to exit the channel and go back. Does not navigate as quickly as hulu or netflix. Overall pretty crap for what they expect you to pay for it
