Apple created and launched iTunes in January of 2001, allowing users to listen to music anywhere on their Apple devices. iTunes became a noteworthy addition to the streaming industry as Apple added streaming movie and TV through iTunes and Apple TV. iTunes is now more than just a music player or a podcast app. This plunge into the television streaming space adds to the many unplugged streaming entertainment options.
iTunes allows users to have access to all of their Apple content (music, movies, TV, video, and pictures) in one place, the iTunes library. This is a unique feature in the streaming TV industry. It's an added convenience to customers to have all of their content in one place.
For $99 users can purchase Apple TV, a streaming device that syncs with other Apple devices and allows users to watch their favorite shows and movies from their TV and other Apple devices.
Users are able to watch movies ad-free and have parental controls for movies, giving flexibility for family viewing.
Apple has created a great iTunes app for its users that's available in the app store. The overall user experience is great and users give the iTunes mobile app a rating of over 4 stars.
iTunes users don't pay a monthly fee to use iTunes. Users simply pay per rental or purchase. Overall, iTunes is a great entertainment platform where users can access music and pictures, and stream TV and movies. Users are able to watch movies ad-free and have access to parental controls while watching. And with a large library of over 2,000 TV series and over 20,500 movies to choose from, users have a great selection.
TV episodes and movies can be a little pricier to rent on iTunes. Rentals start around $3.99 for movies and $2.99 for new TV episodes.
Even though iTunes provides syncing with all of your other Apple products, they are closed off to other common devices (like those using Android).
iTunes has a large library to choose from, but new releases are only available to purchase, not rent. Whereas Amazon Prime allows its customers the option of purchase or rental.
With Apple TV, users can't play DVD's, CD's, or do any kind of recording of their favorite TV shows. Also, no cables come with the purchase of an Apple TV and will need to be purchased separately.
With iTunes users pay per rental or purchase. There is no library of free movies and TV for users to access. This is mainly due to the fact that users do not pay a monthly fee.
Although iTunes has many great features to their services, there are some drawbacks to consider. The main drawback to iTunes is that if you aren't an Apple user than Apple TV and iTunes isn't even an option for you. iTunes only works for Apple devices. In addition, iTunes doesn't have a library of free movies and TV series to watch.
Great library of show and movies and great quality. I've been using iTunes for several years and never have had a issue.
I love itunes. It is a very enjoyable app to use. It is easy to use and has a good display and easy access to find what you are looking for.
I love iTunes! I just recently got an iPhone and have enjoyed this streaming service. The Unser interface is convenient.
I feel like streaming is so normal these days- itunes is almost unnecessary. But I love how many music videos and random interviews there are on itunes. It almost feels like its own type of genre.
Great product and app. Works well. Always have what I’m looking for. Sometimes it is expensive.
ITunes is fantastic when it comes to buying movies. The price may be expensive, but the quality of the video is great.
apple anything slaps. it’s amazing. unreal. impeccable. so much creativity and i love it.
It's tough to match Apple's streaming content and producer relationships. I really love watching/listening!
Itunes has a great variety of music and shows. I am always able to find entertainment through this service.
Great service and easy to use. Being able to get great selections anywhere I go is so convenient.
I own so many apple products and I feel that for some reason iTunes is not user friendly. Content is good.
Not a huge fan of iTunes. It was great for awhile, but its frustrating that it isnt compatible with all of my devices.
I am satisfied. After major IOS updates, some kinks in the software needs to be ironed out but it is an excellent platform.
I love all things Apple. I have basically one of every device and I pay for the monthly cloud service that keeps everything linked.
I love iTunes and I use it everyday but the only thing is I bought so much before iCloud became a thing and it was real money but I don’t have any of those shows and movies anymore and that’s bummer..
I am a very loyal apple user and so I love renting movies or buying movies on itunes. It is so easy to use and is never a complicated experience. I am loyal to a few movie series as well and I love that these are often offered as bundles as well.
I have always really enjoyed using iTunes for my library, especially since my I have so many Apple products. It does feel like there are updates constantly, which starts to get a little bit old and I don't use the iCloud but they keep sending me stuff for that whether I want it or not. I don't see myself moving away from iTunes anytime soon.
I tunes has almost everything that you could every look for. It is very convenient.
I think that it is easy to use but it is expensive for what you get. We discontinued because we were using others for a better price.
ITunes is so reliable and I love how fast it works! I have over 1000 things bought from iTunes and I don't regret it!
they have a good variety of music, TV, and movies. I use it mostly for music downloads
Love the selection of streaming media. User friendly and perfect for those of us that don't do as well with technology.
We’ve been iTunes customers for as long as they’ve been around. Absolutely love the service, as well as the selection. They’ve done a great job at being competitive in offering more selection, as well as new ways of streaming music.
The songs are reasonably priced. I love how you can easily find the songs you are looking for. I like how they make charts of the newest songs so they are easier to find. It's convenient to use and you can have it on a variety of devices.
My family loves iTunes. We feel the variety is awesome. We seem to find all the things unique and hard to find within the entertainment world right there on iTunes.
iTunes for tv shows is not my favorite to use. It costs too much in my opinion.
iTunes has never been the first option for streaming TV but I think it does a good job of it! Just not my favorite way to watch TV.
More expensive than I would like and most of the time you don't need to have a show forever so I wish there rent options were better
I love the shows and the options that they have on iTunes. This streaming service probably has the best prices out there.
I love streaming all my shows with iTunes. They have great shows and their prices are affordable.
iTunes is really nice on a TV. It's so simple and easy and I love the set up of it.
love iTunes i use it almost daily at work you can pretty much get every song you want out there besides garth brook which sucks but oh well. Being able to stream tv shows and have movies to watch is also super nice!
iTunes is great for streaming TV and shows. I like renting movies because they have had every movie that I have searched for in the past.
iTunes is hard to use. It is hard to download and keep it downloaded. Once you do have it downloaded it works great.
I love Apple Music! and iTunes and all of it. It is so nice being able to have music downloaded with me all of the time! Also being able to have movies bought and downloaded to watch on the go. Never had problems with iTunes. Highly highly recommend to anyone with access to iTunes.
Honestly super frustrating in a lot of ways. Even after purchasing a movie or a song their are a lot of limitations with what devices you can access your media on. Not a huge fan
This has been a great way we buy our movies now. Because now we can download them and watch them anywhere without service on my laptop or phone.
iTunes has been so nice to have especially while you are traveling because you can download them and watch them anywhere even without service. Also anytime I’ve had concerns, apple had been there to help me fix my problem fast.
I enjoy Itunes streaming TV. It has good content and usually doesn't have issues buffering.
My biggest complaint about iTunes and overall apple products is that it’s really expensive compared to other places and the service and quality is actually worse
Overall a great system, doesn't always work super cleanly with my apple devices, despite being an apple lover.
I give iTunes 2 stars because they used to be awesome before streaming was a thing. Now that streaming exists, I would never think to go to iTunes to do that because in my head I would have to buy that individual show or movie and that’s lame when you can pay for a subscription and have access to lots of things! Sorry iTunes but you are so 2000 and late.
I love iTunes!! I use it all the time. It’s very user friendly, and high quality.
I like how this company has more movies than others and that there is an option to rent. I wish that you could rent the movies for longer/had the option to rent for longer.
I love streaming movies from iTunes because it’s more convenient than redbox and we can easily look up movies that we want to watch. I also love how you can rent for a day or two!
I have always used iTunes for media. It’s a great way to get movies and music that is not available other places.
Great selection, almost anything you can think of is on here. Prices are in line with most other places. Super easy and convenient if you are in the Apple ecosystem.
The service is excellent but delivered through a slow and clunky client that has had the same codebase for almost 20 years.
iTunes has always been the best when buying movies and downloading then. The movies aren’t super expensive and download fast so you can always have them to watch!! One of my favorites!
The best thing about iTunes is being able to watch the movies I bought across different platforms. I just wish it was easier to login to my iTunes account on other computer, but I think that is just the nature of Apple.
