As a senior on a fixed income, I went solar as my monthly payments for electricity on a level pay plan is $360/month! Unfortunately, I went with SUN UP. My project was supposed to be completed in April. NOONE from SUN UP has been to my house since April. SUN UP is not returning phone calls or e-mails. Meanwhile, I am now paying $360/month for electric PLUS $200/month for non-activated solar panels. I can't afford both payments on my fixed income. GOODLEAP is no help as they have the same song and dance routine of, "You signed that you would make payments even if panels aren't activated. " Yeah, for how long??? I asked one GOODLEAP rep how long I was to pay for a service that I'm not receiving: 6 months? A year? 5 years? Her response was, "We wouldn't let it go on that long." So what is the cut-off??? I asked my latest rep from GOODLEAP this same question, and her response was, "It can go on indefinitely. " So I'm supposed to pay for 25 years till these are paid off and STILL not have solar? GOODLEAP is doing nothing but gaslighting me. "Just call her once a week and tell her we're working on it. That should keep her quiet." I was also promised (in writing!) two advocacy checks which never came. I need a consumer rights attorney. I've had it. I can make one more payment to GOODLEAP then I'm done. I need help!

Sunup America

I can almost promise you that I am the reason Sunup America is not only shutting down but running g and hiding from the lawsuits . Fred R. and his bribing county inspectors and the state ROC inspectors . Mohave county inspector sold signed stickers to pass stuff I wouldn’t allow as an 11 year old , then on top of that Supervisor came out and started claiming they allow this and they allow that ( code books are optional in their Dept ) to top it off they are coming to inspect and will tell you to your face they do not go on a roof but sign off on the roof work claiming their rules don’t require the inspection , that you pay for ! They are a bunch of criminal hacks at Sunup , the workers participated in criminal negligence throughout the process ! Not only endangering the lives of me my family and home with their ignorance in all aspects of electrical and solar . This and the fire hazard they left behind was not enough, they also destroyed my roof and brand new turf ! They then bribed someone at the ROC that sent out an old man who could barely walk and also refused to inspect or go on a roof! But was using pictures from Sunup for his report . He admitted he knew nothing about Solar or electrical to begin with ! This is a 30 year veteran of the ROC ! He screwed up so bad in court the judge basically said I never had an inspection and deserved a proper inspection so I was allowed to apply for another inspection . So when I did the ROC gave me the supervisor that sent him to begin with ! A friend of his for years , who claims that his totally fake inspection report was perfectly ok !! No lies I’m not doing your job but filing a total lie saying you did ! Can you say ROC stands for Receptive Only for Cash ! So Sunup America and the ring leader Fred R. skipped out on the second court date ! Did a complete no show , including their lawyer disappeared . Still waiting on judge to rule ! Over a month now . Those who Hope to get something for their money , don’t hold your breath ! First court case got them a 1 day suspension and a $500 fine . After 4 months and several notices they lost their license to operate . They install stuff to break and then claim it’s not covered , they don’t have a clue on how to fix anything they install . They fake completions to their partner finance company Dividend to get the cash and are Missing in action after that ! They will install on a roof destroyed by a storm 3 days prior , then want over $8 thousand to remove and what ? Reinstall it the same ridiculously dangerous manor ! Fred R. is an owner who does not have a clue about any of the work being done , but is afraid of heights and will lie about anything and everything to anyone anywhere , including on the stand in court ! If you read reviews in must sites every bad review is true . They all have so many common complaints it’s unbelievable ! They will also pay their employees to post positive reviews ! The BBB gives them years ,( I’m going on 2 1/2)to keep coming back to fix complaints and once you do in the they give them an “A” ! I refused the BBB cause it’s all about protecting the business! That grade for years of abuse is a joke and most people I believe just quit trying . Dividend their partner finance company knows of their fake completions and dangerous conditions they leave the jobs . Dividend refuses to listen to the customer and hands out the cash to them . Sunup claimed completion of my system with showing up one day for 3 hours with four guys . They spent more time putting partial roofing that had blown off 3 days prior so they could stand waaaay back and take pictures ! I proved this in court with their own damn pictures ! Their wonderful “sister” roofing company came out to look at all the leaks and started claim I had ponds on the roof and it was all the roofs fault . The idiot did not notice that the so called professionals had sloped 8 panels back at the house sloped in opposite direction twitch 3 tab shingles ! The water flew off the panels right up under the roofing shingles causing 20’ of leaks ! Which the ROC inspectors both said was perfectly ok ! You know all of this would never happen if the county inspectors in Mohave county actually showed up or did their inspection ! How many companies know all about this no inspection policy ? My money says they all do , Just some companies do the job ! Not team up with county inspectors to scam and rob! Hell the head official at the county (Gilbert ) laughed at me when I said this will be in a court of law , actually telling me to have fun cause he won’t be there just the county attorney’s . There is no accountability for these crooked state and county departments . So everyone beware ! The ideal thoughts of having backup in case your contractor is a criminal from these places is just a pipe dream ! The crap I’ve caught them at and that has been ignored or lied about was so bad there is no excuse other than bribery ! Which was the only brought up to me and my sister by the first ROC inspector several times including his introductory phone call with my sister . PS - I still have no completion to date

Sun-up solar installed a system on my home and in the beginning it was not operational. After the company sending out technicians 4 separate times they found out that there were too many panels on all but 1 string to the inverters. The 1 string was able to start 1 inverter but all the other strings and the second inverter are not working so the system is not producing anywhere near what was agreed upon when I signed for my system. Not only this but I was not ever set up to monitor any of the system because they told me they would do this once the whole system was working. Now I have not even 1/4 of a system barely functioning, I’m paying for a completed system and now I’m paying for an electric bill that is almost as high as the systems price? And no one from Sun-up will return any calls, probably knowing their install team didn’t install the wiring correctly and don’t want to fix it, and yes when they sent out their technician, each time they say "there are too many panels on each string to the inverters". There is even 1 string not even plugged in. Finally received a call from Mr. Fred Richie and he said someone would come out to take a look but the system appeared to be working (how's this possible with 1 string unplugged and 1 inverter not working at all)? It's been 2 weeks from his call and no one has called to set up the system check.

Would give zero stars if possible. Signed contract with loan company did not state the entire project scope. Upgrade to insulation, duct sealer and power filter was not included. The notified the loan company as soon and panels showed up pn site that system was installed when it wasn’t. System was never tested for operating before submitting to inspections. Failed inspection do to plans not meeting installation. System is still non operational and they reported to loan company it was so now I am responsible for billing with a non operational system and only part of what was promised installed. That told that other would be installed after system was operational, but now they will not answer any emails or phone calls.

I'm a new customer so we're going through the process of installation. Had the roofer come out a week ago to finalize the broken roof tiles. The roofer and assistant were here for a short period of time and had left without saying a word. I assume they completed their tasks, at least I hope so. I had to clean up the mess they left in my driveway as there were pieces of broken tiles and some nails. Today Cameron was here to outfit the panels with labels and leave some inspection paperwork. He had to update the Enphase which took some time. He was very pleasant and cleaned up prior to his departure. He let me know he was done, and everything was in working order. Informed me the next step was the inspection. He also said once the inspection is complete, someone will show me how to utilize the system monitor application on my phone.

I am extremely frustrated with the lack of professionalism and follow-up from SunUp America. I signed a loan contract on 10/24/23 & within a couple of weeks 29 panels were installed. Around 2/27/24 a company technician told me that there was something wrong with the Tesla inverter – water from the roof was running into the pipe and then into the Tesla inverter box, and that this issue would need to be resolved. The company would request a new work order to get me back on the schedule. The next communication was that a technician would be to my home on 4/1/24 – again a no show! On 2/15/24, I received TEP approval, but still nothing but unfulfilled promises from the company! In the meantime, I continue to make loan payments as well as paying my monthly TEP bill. I received an advocacy check for 1 month but nothing since. The Project Manager at the time, Anastasia continued to claim that she was in touch with accounting and that I could expect more checks for February and March – still nothing! In my frustration I left a VM for the General Manager of SunUp America in March detailing the situation and asking for his help to resolve it – and once again NOTHING!! This lack of attention is unacceptable and I am awaiting a quick resolution from SunUp America Solar or I will be filing complaints with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, the Better Business Bureau and the Arizona Attorney General’s office! I rue the day I ever considered doing business with this company – buyer beware! One star is one star too many!!! Tucson, AZ

SunUp America has our money and won’t give it back! On March 12, we signed a preliminary agreement with SunUp America for a solar installation. We gave them a check in the amount of $15,181.00, which they promised to hold for 3 days should we change our minds. Within hours of receiving our check, it was cashed. On March 13 we informed the sales person that we had changed our minds. He said the check had already been deposited which was not supposed to happen until after the 3 day cancellation period. He assured us the project had been cancelled. We decided in addition to the verbal assurance that the project had been cancelled, we signed the cancellation clause in accordance with the contract on March 14 and mailed to the Phoenix address in the contract by USPS overnight delivery. The USPS attempted to deliver the document on March 15 but said SunUp America was not at that address and had no forwarding address. The package was returned to us. We have repeatably called the phone numbers for this company listed in the contract, left messages asking for our money back, with no response! It is now well past the 10 days specified in the contract for SunUp America to return our money after cancellation. Do Not Do Business With This Company! They are thieves!

I had the best experience with SunUp America. From the first day my sales rep came out I knew I was in good hands. He answered every question I had thoroughly and with patience. SunUp America made everything so easy for me. If you're looking for a solar company this is the one! Thank you SunUp America for giving me the best experience

Just got my new solar project commissioned and online this morning and couldn’t be happier! This entire project was so easy with @sunupamerica and I will definitely refer them to all my friends and family. Dominick was our onsite rep and did a great job of answering all of our questions and helped walk us through the set up, class act.

We have total buyer's regret! We're filing an ROC complaint against them and then suing them! They install their products poorly and then when the bad install is identified, they don't stand behind their products. They'll string you along the first couple of years, while you're calling them time and time again attemptingto get them to make it right, and then they tell you, too much time has passed, we're not making it right. 🤬 We pay more now between our solar bill and TEP bill, then we did before getting their products.

Buyer beware! This company (SunUp America) is extremely difficult to communicate with and will not offer any services beyond the initial two-year installation warranty. A summary of our experience includes the following; unanswered and unreturned telephone calls, delays in the installation of the solar system and commissioning date, no service beyond the initial installation, loss of solar generation power and additional electricity cost due to the solar system frequently in a rapid shutdown state. SunUp America, inability to communicate and provide service after the sale led us to hire another solar company to conduct an inspection and restore our solar system to an operational state. This is at an additional cost, now approaching a thousand dollars to date. The root cause, SunUp America installation and use of non-rated solar circuit breakers. Selecting SunUp America as a solar system provider is by far one of the worst decisions we have ever made. We do not recommend this company and strongly advise against selecting them for any solar system installation or solar service agreements.

SunUp America is a terrible company. While installing the solar panels they broke my swamp cooler. Fred R's initial reaction was to bully and lie to us. Then they continued to put appointments before us and took a month to fix it in June/July in Arizona. My 4 children, the youngest being 2 years old, lived in a 100 plus degree home for a month feeling sick daily. Oh, but they graciously lent us a 500 sq. foot portable air conditioner for a 1700 sq. foot house!! Which did nothing except run our electric bill sky high. Our panels have been sitting on the roof for over almost 2 months now not hooked up. SunUp America installed them without a hook-up date because they were getting too close to their 6-month allotment in the contract. RUN!!!!!!

Don’t EVER waste my time again. My wife was not available to attend the meeting with the salesperson so you immediately cancel the meeting?!!! A TOTAL waste of my time and I would NEVER consider your company for ANY type of service again. The way I figure, it is your “sales plan” to have both husband and wife together at the initial meeting to coerce signing a contract together, immediately. Sorry, but that is NOT cool! Go prey on some other sucker!

Very disappointed. The system is apparently undersized, does not deliver as promised, and no return to voicemail or texts. I gave 2 stars because the working guys were very professional and polite. Three neighbors who were considering this have now declined due to my experience.

Horrible communication when you have issues that they don’t want to fix and very defensive when you demand answers or resolution.
