Sun First Solar have been very responsive and efficient to work with. They worked fast to get our contract in before the NEM3.0 deadline in 2023. They interfaced very well with the roofing company to remove old panels, and install the new panels after the new roof was installed. They have also interfaced very well with the electrical contractor as our main panel was being replaced and there was a new set of conduits/gutters to interface to. They also worked with the fire department to have our installation approved so that setbacks and skylight clearances were negotiated and approved to give us the maximum installation area. Aran and his team have helped me to understand some of the other choices and tradeoffs regarding batteries, and implemented the equipment to make it easy to add additional equipment later as I assess my needs. Overall, I would certainly recommend them.

Once we met with Kurtis and he explained everything to us, it was a no-brainer to go with the panels. It’s been over a year now and we are so happy. Because Kurtis was able to calculate the proper number of panels for us we did not get a true-up bill in January, we got a small credit. I recommend Sun First Solar to everyone all time, I tell to at least talk to Kurtis.

Sun First is a well established solar company in the North Bay. As an architect, I’ve seen their work on a clients’ homes, and I’ve seen how they are able to coordinate and communicate with the general contractor and others on the job site. When I was looking to install solar on my own home, I went with Sun First. There’s a lot of solar companies out there now, but I’d go with one who has experience and has been around as long as Sun First.

We have worked with Sun First since 2004 when they installed our first solar panels. They supported our system and walked us through upgrading and replacing the panels when they were recalled many years later. Aran spent a lot of time making sure our warranty claim was honored. He has taken great personal care of us, and we love the security of the solar power we generate. After adding a Tesla Powerwall, we feel absolutely NO effects of power outages. Solar is the way to go, and Sun First is the way to do it!

Everything I contracted Sun First Solar to do was handled well from beginning to end. I can't speak highly enough of my experience with the team. Communication was fantastic from the planning phase to final details. The sales team worked with me to make sure I was comfortable and satisfied with the plan, their installation team was quick and effective, their service team was able to assist me with some fine tuning after the fact. Here we are one year post installation and I am still happily not paying my power provider anything (!). I highly recommend Sun First Solar for anyone who needs a full service outfit to come and handle business. I will note that I have two neighbors who had systems installed in a similar time frame, both are highly satisfied as well. Thanks to the Sun First team for all their hard work and for making my house self sufficient. Regardless of the price of excess Kw/h, we are still producing more than we use and don't have to pay the man to exist any longer!

SunFirst Solar in San Rafael, is a Marin based business since 1984. They have exceptional customer service. Competitors with lower bids used lower quality components and string inverters which is cheaper, but is less optimal because if one panel goes out, they all go out. Sunfirst was the only provider out of four I bid out that installs a microinverter. Another plus is they do. It su chas tract out the installation. All work done from start to finish are Sunfirst solar employees so there is always recourse if a problem arises. Larger solar providers subcontract installers who merely follow the design plan. This can lead to problems when an onsite modification is required and potentially serious problems with getting your final approval if something is not to code. They also have excellent warranty and customer service. See more about this below.

Our neighbor is a solar engineer for one of Sun First's competitors, and he said the Sun Power equipment offered was excellent, and he would not hesitate to install it on his home. Two friends of ours had recommended Sun First, and Sun Power equipment, and the entire process from sales presentation, installation, and final inspection was seamless, friendly and professional. Our system has been installed, and operating perfectly since December of 2021. The Sun Power battery storage system has been used about 8 times since completion, and it was the best investment that we've made on our home in these times of PG&E's PSPS's. I would absolutely recommend using Sun First to any family or friend. They're a great company.

Three part project: New roof, main electrical distribution box upgrade, solar collection/storage. Three contractors working and communicating together to provide excellent, coordinated service. Sun First was timely working within the availability of the other two contractors who needed to do their parts first. They provided very professional installers who worked efficiently, courteously, and left me with very good information on how to maximize savings with my new system. I am approaching 1 year since installation and am very pleased with the way the system has worked through grid outages and especially through the difficult months of December - March when sun time is at it’s lowest for this location.

They did a really great job. They showed up on time, they did excellent work, they finished on time, they dogged the PG&E department responsible for turning on the system and made it all happen for me. And then, after always said and done we had a storm one night and Kurtis came out the next day and checked everything even though it had been months after the install. He didn’t have to do that but that’s the kind of guy he is. Sun First Solar is the one and only place to go in Lake County. And, he designed exactly the right system for me not too large, not too small. At the end of the year at true-up I had generated $1600 more than I used so I am more than happy.

From the start to finish, this company is a class act! The initial contact with the rep, Kurtis, was educational, interesting, and fun. He answered every question, knew the product completely, made sure the placement was perfect for our house, and kept in contact while waiting for the installation. During installation, the installers were fast, efficient, very neat, and patient with explaining how the wall and the internet info worked together. When I had a questions about the process, I always got the answer quickly from the office, and once (believe it or not) the CEO even called to give me a detailed answer to a question. It's been several years, and the Walls are fabulous--we don't even know that there have been blackouts because they kick in immediately. Best idea we ever had!!
