Had 30 panels installed in June of 2018 and everything went well. In May of 2021 had a panel stop working correctly and placed a service call. Spoke off and on a couple of times and eventually in May of 2022, they came out and told me the panel was bad and needed replaced. Haven’t heard back about that panel since so that’s over 18 months. Now I need my roof replaced due to wind damage from a storm and cannot get anywhere with getting the panels removed to redo the roof. One of the selling points in the panels was if I went through them to get my roof redone they would remove and replace the panels for free. Well, 4 years later they no longer do any contracting and I’m assuming won’t honor removing / replacing the panels. Customer service is basically non existent. Very disappointed overall.

I was told, no guaranteed that my solar payments would replace my monthly LG&E bills every month. Nope. The panels weren't turned on and it wasn't caught until 2 months after installation-2 months of sunlight wasted. Everytime I call my rep I get a, "let me find out what's going on and I'll call you back". I'm still waiting for those calls. I'm paying double what I did before I signed up for this. The ease of getting the panels installed was 5 star. The aftermath is a 0 star. I'm regretting my decision. I have a sinking feeling the rebate I was told I would get for installing these won't happen either.

Update: Aug 12, 2022. Still no contact from company and still paying for my non working panels and my full electricity bill and not banking any power. System is less than 1 year old. This is not how a reputable company operates. Be warned. Update: There has been no further communication and my panels are still broke. Please do your research through the reviews before making any final decision on using this company. Also, I think they changed my Doesn't Recommend to Recommend after they reached out to me...which I dont. Update: Customer Service has reached out and told me they should get to my system within two weeks and that the delayed issues are due to company growth and trying to select the correct partner companies for monitoring, etc. I have been happy with their choice of partners in the past, hopefully they will get back on track. I'm now waiting to see if they how my repair goes and what if any assistance I will get since my system has been down for so long and I've banked no credit with my energy provider. Update: At this point I would caution anyone on using this company. If you have any faults with your system, getting through customer service is a nightmare and it's been 2 months now with no service. My panels no longer work and I'm paying for them and my full electricity bill...not the savings they promised me...now a huge out of pocket cost I wasn't expecting...and at a time when gas and all other bills are higher. Solar is not Freedom now...its a weight dragging me and my finances through hell. The install process went ok; however, they said they would monitor the system. It was completely down for over a week when I noticed and it's been a month or more since I told them and I have gotten little assistance and no estimated time to get it fixed. I'm starting to get worried that anything past installing the system is going to be a huge headache. I definitely would not use a company that I have to rely on for 20 years if I knew they drop their customer service in the maintenance phase.

I am honestly wondering if this company pays people to take down negative reviews. We can't be the only ones having issues with this company judging by our experience so far. Here is our honest review. Mid Feb 2022, Our breakers for our solar panels caught fire, burning up the 2 solar panel breakers and 5 surrounding breakers. Solar is freedom was contacted and sent the pictures. We were told the pics were getting "sent up the food chain". My husband had to contact them multiple times a week, for 3 weeks, before someone finally came out to take a look. In the mean time, we hired our own electrician to fix the surrounding breakers for peace of mind. The solar is freedom technicians came out, and they really were the only good thing about this whole experience so far (got them installed Oct 2020 and they have worked properly off and on. Nov 2021 we were told we may need a stronger inverter but never heard anything else). Al and his co technician that came along were so helpful. They explained what was wrong and possible solutions. They replaced the breakers and got the system running again. A "higher up" told them to leave it and go. Al went back down to check the system and the amps were past the maximum allowed and were raising fast. So he shut it back down, saying he wasn't comfortable leaving the system on with this happening. We appreciated Al so much because he actually cared about what was happening and could happen to our house. We are still in limbo with our system. The service manager of the cincinnati office was giving us the runaround about how this is Duke's fault and not theirs. Called duke and they said it is nothing on their end. Even Solar is freedom's tech kept saying there is a major issue with the system. It's a major problem. But the service manager kept down playing it. This experience has not been worth it so far and if we could go back in time we would definitely not go with this company.

We are current Solar is Freedom customers (install 11/21) . Panels are currently inoperable due to wind storm damage. The company announced 3/28/23 that they are suspending operations for four weeks to “reorganize”. We are helpless, absolutely no response from the company other than the above statement. This is costing us hundreds every month, and we are stuck with having to pay for panels that don’t work. Solar is Freedom does not care about it’s customers, stay far, far away from them. The Central Ohio Better Business Bureau has a warning posted about this company.

I’m on my second year with Solar is freedom system. It worked great for the first year. Now my system has not been generating power for two weeks. I can’t get in contact with a technician to fix the problem. I tried to schedule an appointment on their website but no one showed up. I called my salesman got a voicemail, left a message. The response via text was to use the website for service problems. After going through the phone tree from the phone number on the website the reply was “ the person you are trying to reach is no longer an employee.”

I have had a terrible experience with Solar is Freedom. I placed a deposit with them in Aug 22 and was told it normally takes about 60 days to get the panels on the roof. Well, I'm about on day 140 since the deposit and still no panels. Twice they scheduled to place the panels and failed to show up. At this point I just want my deposit back but I can't seem to get a hold of anyone there and they never call back or email back. My advice is to stay away from this company.

Things started out great but turned sour. Customer service is nonexistent. Nobody answers the customer success line, nobody returns messages, must call sales to get anyone’s attention. I originally installed 21 panels and an inverter $19,800. 5 years later, I wanted 10 more panels and an inverter installed (their own website states that prices have dropped 43% over the last 5 years)…10 panels and inverter=$19,795 “our best price”. Bottom line they are so shady.

They decided after almost a year they didn't want to do my project anymore because of the distance. The distance didn't seem to be an issue when I signed the contract and gave them over $6,000 to order the panels. Its almost a month and still no refund check. They should be embarrassed they handled a project like this. Everyone signed the dotted line, see it through until the end. That's what reputable contractors do.

After installation and they get paid, no customer service. They will not even call you back. Forgot to install gen port. Have been restructuring their call center for 4 months now, that is their excuse for no calling back. Even after leaving messages for 4 different people. But if you call the number to get service installation they will answer right away!

If it was possible to give negative start I would. Panels installed less than two years ago, a part is already bad, and I’ve been trying to get it fixed since July 2022 and it’s now Sept 2022. Find a different company to install your system.

Looked into solar panels in early July and we set up an agreement with solar freedom now several months later and no install and no one returning phone calls or emails and yet I am suppose to pay for something that isn’t installed! Not happy at all with this!
