I have degrees in Chemical Engineering and Sustainability and was looking forward to having a positive impact on the environment while lowering my bills by implementing Solar. Throughout the quote, design, permitting and installation process I had numerous questions as a first-time solar customer. I did not feel that SmartWave had any interest in answering those questions and in fact was told at one point that they "just wanted to get the panels on my roof." Much of my headache started AFTER I had already been approved for loan/install and thus was told repeatedly by the company that it was too late for me to change my mind. My home was constructed in 2020 and I KNEW I wanted to look into solar options so during construction I had a conduit installed to transport cables from my roof to breaker panel and electric meter ahead of time. SmartWave audited my property and said everything would work as intended but the day they showed up for install they did not have plans that had been bought off by me and they indicated that the conduit was not able to be used for the type of wiring that they were installing. This caused me to miss time at work as I had to rush home to help them get the plans in place on the days of installation which also resulted in having unattractive wiring going up the side of my house. Again, they insisted that if I did not submit to this design my contract would be cancelled and I would be charged anyways. Aside from the poor customer service, here is the worst part; I have had the system installed for just over a year now and have been paying MORE than I was before. Before installing solar, my average bill was $110.19 with three people living in the house. After installing solar, my average bill is $95.56 PLUS the 92.75 I pay towards the solar loan and this is with only two people living here. I can not recommend this company and less and am disappointed that I ever worked with them.

Nick, I'm very sorry to hear about the trouble you've experienced. I'll have an owner reach out to you so we can help you out. Your agreement has a production guarantee, so if your solar panels are not producing the kWh's guaranteed in your agreement, we will fix them, install additional panels at no charge, or compensate you for the loss. You can talk with one of our owners about that and/or you can reach out to support@smartwavesolar.com to have them review your production with you and schedule next steps. I'll post an update on this review after I get more info from the owner that speaks with you.

They promised that this system would meet ALL of our power needs, We spent several hours with their salesman Steven as he assured us that it would cover our needs plus the additional power of a sprinkler pump we were installing. Needless to say the system didn’t perform as promised. As I talked to the owners, Gary and Justin I found that they won’t do anything to correct the problem. Their contract is very vague so there is nothing to fall back on. I later learned that their own system analysis shows that the system won’t be able to meet my current power needs let alone with my new pump. They didn’t bother showing me this until after the system was installed. I had another (competent) company evaluate my system and was told that there is no way my system can do what was promised. Beware, these folks only care about making the sale and will say nearly anything to get the sale.

Steven, I am sorry to hear about your frustrations. We have an extremely high standard to exceed our customers' expectations and will always continue to work accordingly. We take great care from sales to design to project management to installation to make sure it is clear how the system you purchased will function. We're very committed to making sure our customers get what they are promised, which is why our solar systems include a production guarantee (not something most solar companies offer). This guarantee outlines the amount of electricity the system is supposed to produce, and if it falls short, we fix it, even fit that requires us to add additional solar panels for free. At last report, your system is producing in the expected range for the first year but if that changes we will be sure to act quickly. Further, our investigation into your production since the time of installation revealed that your home has been consuming more than double the amount of electricity you were using before your project began. That dramatic increase in electricity consumption will require additions to your system. We consider all of our customers long term partners and we will continue to monitor, service, and warranty your system for years to come.

I do not see much of a savings from before I had the solar panels installed.
