From the moment the salesperson left to the moment the system was installed, I found each person with whom I met to be professional, knowledgeable and extremely courteous. After about a year I noticed an odd discoloration on one of the panels. Fearing a failed solar cell, I called A-1. They were responsive immediately. A team was sent over within 24 hours and it was determined that the discoloration was created by a large birds' reminder that they fly overhead. Evidently, the washing away over time had left the odd stain. They cleaned the stain and the system looks pristine . I hold A-1 in very high regard.

I chose A-1 based on the sales presentation which was thorough and included photos and drawings of the whole installation process. The installation crew was equally impressive as they paused to answer questions from the roof. Installation was enabled by a very responsive city staff with timely permit approval and inspection. The only glitch involved the router which allows me to monitor output on my computer--the problem seemed to be in the construction of our old house which the technician was able to circumvent. 40 inches of rain fully tested the installation. We are very pleased with the results!

A1 Solar customer service was the worst!. They wrote in my contract that If I needed a new roof, they would come and remove the panels and put them back on upon completion of the new roof - FREE O CHARGE within 10 years of solar installation. There office had closed in Petaluma with no new phone numbers. I finally contacted their main office, and they promised to have someone contact me to have the panels removed. No one called even after I contacted them again and again. I learned that they sub- contract many of the jobs out. Finally, I got local Solar company to do the work. Although it cost almost $3000. for removal and re-installation, the job was done professionally. I am now using Simply Solar to monitor my system. BEWARE OF A1 SOLAR. They make many promises but after the job is completed, you are on your own

Had the system installed three years ago. It has been great! In the summer my electric bill went from $350 to $450 without using much A/C to under $50 and we use the A/C all the time now.

Good luck to anyone that gets in bed with this company because you are sure to get *^#@!+, if anything goes wrong . For example, let's just say the integrity of your roof is like TOTALLY compromised due to A-1's un-professionals having forced-drilled (not pre-drilled) a healthy number of 5 inch lag screws into your roof, causing the roof to leak every time it rains. Interior damage? You betcha. But will A-1 step-up-to-the-plate and honor their guarantees or warranties? Ha! Ha! Ha! We're still waiting, and we have been in this "waiting game" for months now. Our roof still leaks (Thank God! It's not raining right now.) And all of the interior damage to our home has never-- EVER--been addressed by A-1. Do your research. A-1 is known for its lack of commitment.

This company took 5 months to complete the installation even though their contract language stated "Time to complete on-site construction activities is one to two weeks for a typical residential system". They presented me with one layout -that I signed off on - and then installed a different layout for the system. They were very slow to respond to my inquiries and often did not answer all the questions I had. Now - 6 months after the completion of the project 5 of my panels are not producing energy like they should. My system has dropped by 33% in productivity. (15% of that could be attributed to shorter daylight hours. They sent out an engineer who discovered the problem - and he was told to tell me they will get back to me. That was Tuesday of this week - It is now Saturday no one called me to follow up on this I have no confidence in this company. I understand they are now doing business under a new name "Colby" solar. I hope the name change does not somehow negate the warranty that I have. I have paid nearly $50,000 for 34 panels and I am very disappointed in the performance of the system.

Said they would monitor and maintain system for 25 years. They didn’t even do 1 year! Our true-up bill 1st year was approx $800 which we were expecting but the next year was approximately $2000. When we tried to contact A1 to see what was wrong, all we got was answering machines and never got a call back! We were told to call canopy sales and got no where there, we spent $40,000 on this system and feel totally had! Wish we could file a legal grievance against these people! Any advice on how to track these people down, let us know!

I have made five calls to A1 Solar, left a message with the operator and my telephone number for a call back from the support department. None ever received. A call today resulted in continued disconnection with the operator and when I pressed button #2 as an existing customer I kept getting a dial tone. The Internet states their Van Nuys office is closed. It appears they may be out of business?

Most thorough presentation with the most information. Install was great after the previous solar company never came back.

They were great, at first?! No problem until the rain...called, they came out and sealed around possible problem areas, no rain so all good. This years rain came and leaks again, called several times and no call backs?! What happened to customer service? Not happy...

We had our Solar put in 2013 and have had nothing but problems, poor customer service and our solar had not been working for a month and half and they will not return phone calls, sent letters and sent letters to the CSLB, we have 28 panels and cost us for 41.000.00. It looks like they are under review with the CSLB
