For an additional cost, Google Fiber customers can add on premium and sports channels to their existing plan. This allows users to watch more movies, original series, sports, and Spanish programming.

Here's how much you'll have to pay for each premium package:

  • Premium Package: $45 per month
  • Sports Package: $10 per month
  • Movies Package: $10 per month
  • Family Package: $10 per month

Cancel Anytime

While many top cable providers lock new users in with a 24-month contract, Google Fiber extends no further than 12 months for any of its offerings. This gives the user more flexibility with the service in the event of moving or changing subscriptions.

You will not be under the same fee obligations that other cable providers place under you because of this.

Excellent Customer Service

Many consumers praise Google Fiber’s customer service. The company boasts having a friendly and knowledgeable staff to help answer any questions that may arise. The company also strives to have exact-time service appointments — so you aren't waiting hours for someone to come to your house.

Helping Families Connect

Google Fiber knows how essential internet access for families is. It can help people take advantages of resources, help students finish their homework, and get kids involved in STEM classes. That's why the company has partnered with ConnectHome — an initiative by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the White House — to help bring a faster, more reliable internet service, to families in public housing. Housing authorities and residents will receive this service for free.

The Bad

  • Availability
  • Capacity Limit

Google Fiber began as an experiment and then formed into a company, so the locations across the United States are limited. The cities in which Google Fiber is offered are:

  • Atlanta, Georgia
  • Austin, Texas
  • Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Chicago, Illinois
  • Denver, Colorado
  • Huntsville, Alabama
  • Kansas City, Missouri
  • Kansas City, Kansas
  • Miami, Florida
  • Nashville, Tennessee
  • Oakland, California
  • Orange County, California
  • Provo, Utah
  • Salt Lake City, Utah
  • San Antonio, Texas
  • San Diego, California
  • San Fransisco, California
  • Seattle, Washington
  • The Triangle, North Carolina

These cities are being dubbed as "Fiber Cities," and city officials are working to bring the world's fastest service to more cities. It may be a couple of years before it reaches your city. This is due to the fact they have to run fiber optic cables through the city to bring the service to a new location. The installation process of installing a network can be time-consuming.

Depending on where you live will also affect the number of channels and which channels you get with Google Fiber TV. Check the company website to see what channels are available in your area.

Capacity Limit

If you plan on using the internet at the same time as watching Google Fiber TV, the internet speed may be affected.

The company explains, "Google Fiber's Internet and TV service offerings share capacity on the connections to subscribers' premises. To provide customers with a consistently high-quality video service, the capacity available for the Google Fiber Internet service may be reduced if subscribers are utilizing Google Fiber TV services and, in particular, if subscribers are watching or recording multiple Google Fiber TV streams simultaneously."

The Bottom Line

Google Fiber is the new satellite television provider with three different options that are intertwined into five different plans. Consumers have the opportunity to choose the one that best suits their needs.

The connection is much faster than the average smart television - up to 1,000 megabits per second. Its fast internet creates less time buffering and more time video chatting, uploading videos, and playing games. This is a brand new form of service, so it is not available everywhere. It is a little tricky to get signed up, but the Google Fiber website has a search tool that can help with any questions.

If you are a current member and have any additional questions, be sure to reach out to their customer service, and they'll be able to give you more information in regards to their fiber space, gigabit speeds, high-speed broadband, fiber tv, and other fiber services. Between their upload speeds and download speeds, this service provider is very fast compared to the speeds of other companies.

Note: If you are not a current customer, you will be unable to sign up for a TV plan through Google Fiber as this service has been discontinued to new customers

The best thing about Google Fiber is how easy it is to get help. They stopped by the house when our internet stopped working. It was easy.

Amazing company. Amazing customer service. I had Google fiber services for a couple of years before I moved away from the city. I so wish I could've taken them with me! Excellent service (never went out once). Excellent product (the speed was amazing). Excellent customer service (they made setup and return as simple as I've ever had, and I've used many different companies--dish, direct, Cox, centurylink, etc). The fee schedule was simple-No deciding over millions of different packages. I would recommend Google fiber to anyone who's trying to decide on a cable/internet company.

Google Fiber is so awesome. The interface is easy to use and the customer service is great. But most importantly with these cable companies is that they are transparent with their service and costs. It is one simple price and they don't jam you up with hidden fees and random charges and all the other crap companies like Comcast screw you with. DVR comes with the service as well as I think 1TB of space to save shows and movies. Would recommend Google Fiber to anyone and thank you for giving us an alternative to the other cable giants.

My least favorite part of moving away from Provo was losing Google Fiber. I never thought that I would say this with an ISP before, but I loved my entire experience with them. I loved it so much that after a few months of having only internet through them, I decided to add on the TV service too. I ended up switching back to just internet after a couple months, solely because my brain had gotten so accustomed to not having cable and I found that I rarely used the service. With that being said, it was breeze switching back and forth. The customer service and the installation people that interacted with over the phone and in person were wonderful. When I let them know that I was moving, it was a really easy to cancel and I didn't receive any backlash from them in the process. I wish they were available in more cities.

I have been a Google Fiber customer for only two years. I've been a AT&T and Spectrum customer. AT&T provide great service but the price was a little more than i wanted to pay. Spectrum service was horrible and the price was always changing

I have felt really good about Google Fiber and I love how it is free in our town! My husband said that their salesman are pretty pushy and make you feel like the free internet will be barely enough to download an email but that's super not true. It's been working fine for us :)

We had Google Fiber as our Satellite TV provider and were amazed at the reliability as well as the service. We then moved and were not in an area that it was available to us anymore and I was disappointed in that which is why I only give 4 stars. I just wish it was available in more areas.

I've recently had a some trouble with google fiber. The wifi always goes in and out and channels randomly stop working. Prices have also gone up with is ridiculous when they can't even fix the problems. Customer service is really nice though, they're always willing to help.
