If i could give Optimum/Cablevision a (1/4) quarter star i would. Their customer service agents are unprofessional, ignorant, incompetent unreasonable, not helpful, rude and ineffective. Further, they have no supervisors or managers who you can speak to so they can address/resolve your concerns. Most of the time all you can get is their automated phone service, unless you say you want sales. Then, they put you through to a live body so they can sell you something to get your money. My experience - Where do i begin? i have had the service for several years and i am moving in the next 2 weeks. I called to set up an appointment 2 1/2 weeks in advance so there will be no lapse in my service in my new home. A couple days later they remotely cancelled my internet & phone service in my current house as well a one cable box no longer works. All of this on a weekend with no notice, 2 weeks before the move, especially after i told them i will need the service up until the move in date appointment. Over the course or 4 days, I called optimum no less than 15 times being placed on holds for upto 1 1/2 hours and transferred to upto as many a 6 different customer service people in one call. No one can resolve the issue. Then they tell me that i have to cancel my transfer service/move appointment to have my service restored at my current address and there will probably be a charge$ because a service technician must come out and will need inside access to my house to restore the service that they erroneously cancelled remotely. Next, they make an appointment for 11am-2pm the next day without consulting or notifying me for availability. When i learn of the appointment the next day via email and inform them i am unavailable because i am at work. They schedule an appointment for the nextday from 2-5pm and say they have no appointments after 5pm, i informed them that i typically get home at 5pm...they said that they will put it in their notes for the technician to come for 5pm. Guess what the technician calls me at 2:15pm to say he will be there is a few mins. I tell him i will try to get there for 4:45pm and asked him if he read the notes on the appointment about my arrival time home. He says ok and never shows. I called optimum again and get no where with accommodations. My 90yr parent with limited mobility who cant answer the door has no phone service and my security systems are down because i have no inter6. All of my service issues are their erroneous creations and they make no accommodations to correct anything. I have to be at work so i can pay their bill. Taking off time is not an option nor should it be. Furthermore, i have a credit on my optimum account which i pay for via my checking account online, i requested a refund and the idiot customer service agent asks me 4 times for the last 4 digits of my credit card and the expired date which is not on file with them. I inform him 4 times that my service is paid via a checking account online and there is no expiry date for the checking account. He puts me on hold and then comes back and asks what are the last 4 digits of my checking account and tells me it should take 48 hours to refund to my checking account and i will be notified via email. I am still waiting for my refund. Needless to say when my move is finalized, i am dropping Optimum/Cablevision because i have other options of Fios and TW. If you have other options, avoid Optimum/Cablevision products because they do not respect, respond or care about their customers who laterally pay their salaries by subscribing to the services.

I rented a movie on my living room cable box and wasn’t able to continue watching in living room. When I tried to watch on bedroom cable box, the movie wouldn’t play because it was rented on the other box. The error message actually indicated I’d be charged again for watching the movie I was already just charged for since it was on a different box. It then expired unwatched. Why doesn’t Optimum allow a rented movie to be watched on ANY cable box in the home? This is standard on XFinity and other services. It’s absurd. It’s ONE system and one service yet it’s actually designed like that to only allow viewing on a single box despite the fact that I actually pay a per box monthly charge! Tried to get a credit for the unwatched movie on their website chat which only allows 50 characters to describe issue and only responds if your issue relates to a standard predetermined list. Waste of 15 minutes. Called customer service and wasted another 5 minutes with useless prompts designed to avoid connecting me with a live representative. Representative was unknowledgeable, and completely useless doing nothing but parroting their policy that downloaded movies are nonrefundable and ignoring the actual circumstances which prevented my actually watching the movie. A complete waste of time even bothering to try to contact anyone for help. They seem to be TRAINED to avoid any resolution of an issue and the actual circumstances relative to it. Of course, no higher supervisor or manager available. Have been a customer for over 20 years. Internet service has declined, webmail is a nightmare since Altice took over and picture breaks up on screen regularly several times a month. Complete incompetence. I told them this and that I was switching to FIOS prior to hanging up. If you have a choice when in need of cable service they should be avoided…

Great packages, a bit pricey but well worth the money with aces to hot-spots everywhere anyone has a router.
