The Good

• Free installation
• Plans
• Extra tools

There are a few nice things that Frontier Communications has to offer to their customers. Their installation for new satellite internet customers is free as well as the equipment needed to start with this service. They offer a variety of plans to fit their customer's need for internet. Their plans are as follows:

• Frontier Core Plan: $64 per month and features download speeds up to 5 Mbps and upload speeds up to 1 Mbps and 5 GB of data available for the month.
• Frontier Core Plus Plan: $74 per month with download speeds up to 5 Mbps and upload speeds up to 1 Mbps and 10 GB of data available for the month.
• Frontier Advanced Plan: $104 per month giving you download speeds up to 10 Mbps and upload speeds up to 1 Mbps and 15 GB of data available for the month.
• Frontier Maximum Plan: $134 per month at download speeds up to 15 Mbps and upload speeds up to 2 Mbps and 20 GB of data available for the month.

There are a few other extra tools that come with a customer's Frontier subscription. Frontier allows up to eight different e-mail accounts with up to 5GB of storage for each account, internet and e-mail security software, parental controls, and call waiting services. As an additional perk, Frontier Communications also offers a backup service to their customers for personal device protection and free tech support 24 hours 7 days a week. If you are in need of additional data for the month then Frontier only charges $8 for an additional GB and $15 for 2 GB. This is significantly cheaper than competing satellite internet providers that charge $10 just for 1 GB of additional data for the month. If you are needing WiFi for your home then Frontier charges only $6.99 per month for an additional modem to that will give you WiFi access.

The Bad

• Low data plans
• Fees
• Transparency

Frontier's least expensive plan starts out at $64 per month and offers 5 GB of data for the month. Their Maximum plan costs $134 per month and offers only 20 GB of data per month. Frontier's data caps are quite low compared to competing companies which offer 12 GB of data per month a price similar to Frontier's. If you know that you are going to be using a ton of data each month then you may want to consider a different satellite internet provider that offers more data. While Frontier does offer their equipment for free as well as installation for free when you sign a 2 year contract, they have a lot of fees that you need to be aware of if you decide to cancel before your contract is up. You will be required to pay $400 as an early termination fee if you cancel before your two years are up as well as a $9.99 satellite processing fee. Also, make sure you get the satellite equipment you were given back to frontier because you will accrue additional fees. There is barely any information available on Frontier's website about their satellite internet. We recommend you call them or do a live chat in order to get any additional questions you may have answered. Frontier does offer free installation when a 2 year service agreement is signed, and they also offer price lock guarantees but in order for any of these things to take place the customer must sign a 2 year agreement, sign up for a qualified auto pay, and a few other things in order to get the guaranteed price lock. It would be nice if these things were clearly stated on their site and where it is easy to find.

The Bottom Line

Residents of rural areas are limited to certain types of internet connections such as Satellite Internet. Frontier is a satellite internet provider that is definitely worth checking out if you have those needs. They offer download speeds and data plans that are very competitive compared to what other providers are offering. Also, new customers can take advantage of free installation as well as no additional payments for equipment unless you get a modem for WiFi. Their upload speeds are slightly slower than what other companies are offering and their data plans are less for the price you are expected to pay. Also, beware of all the fees you will be required to pay if you decide to cancel your plan early. We recommend Frontier as a satellite internet provider for your internet needs you may have living in a rural area.
