The Good

  • Impact-Resistant Products
  • Energy-Efficient Design
  • Customizable Options
  • Limited Lifetime Warranties

High-Quality, Impact-Resistant Products

PGT windows are constructed with premium, impact-resistant materials specifically engineered to withstand extreme weather conditions, including hurricanes. This durability provides not only safety during storms but also enhances home security by making it difficult for potential intruders to break through.

Energy-Efficient Design

PGT incorporates advanced glass technologies, such as low-E coatings and insulated frames, which significantly reduce heat transfer and help stabilize indoor temperatures. This efficiency can lead to noticeable reductions in utility bills and may qualify homeowners for energy rebates or tax incentives.

Customizable Options

With a wide array of customization options—including frame materials, colors, glass tints, and hardware finishes—PGT windows offer tailored solutions that blend seamlessly with various architectural styles. This flexibility allows homeowners to match their personal style without sacrificing performance or functionality.

  • Impact-Resistant Windows: One of PGT’s standout product lines is its impact-resistant windows, ideal for hurricane-prone areas. These windows feature layers of impact-resistant laminated glass that not only protect against high winds and flying debris but also offer added security by resisting forced entry.
  • EnergyVue Windows: PGT’s EnergyVue windows prioritize energy efficiency. These models feature insulated glass and frames designed to minimize thermal transfer, keeping homes cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. EnergyVue windows are ENERGY STAR® certified, and many models meet stringent energy standards to qualify for local rebates or tax incentives.
  • ClassicVue Max Windows: ClassicVue Max is a popular choice among homeowners seeking traditional aesthetics with modern features. These windows offer durability with aluminum frames and clear or tinted glass options. While they don’t have impact-resistant features, they are designed for strength, longevity, and ease of maintenance.

PGT’s window offerings include various types to fit different room layouts and architectural designs. Some of the most popular window styles from PGT include:

  • Single-Hung Windows
  • Double-Hung Windows
  • Casement Windows
  • Sliding Windows
  • Picture Windows

Limited Lifetime Warranties

PGT offers robust, limited lifetime warranties on most of its windows, covering defects in materials and workmanship for the original purchaser. This warranty generally includes frame components, insulated glass seals, and hardware, provided that the windows are installed according to PGT’s guidelines. These warranties provide peace of mind, ensuring homeowners can feel confident about their investment and its durability over time.

The Bad

  • Higher Initial Cost
  • Limited Availability
  • Professional Installation Recommended

Higher Initial Cost

Due to their specialized impact-resistant design and quality materials, PGT windows come with a premium price that may be prohibitive for budget-conscious homeowners. However, the long-term energy savings and added home protection may offset the upfront cost for some buyers.

Limited Availability Outside Certain Regions

PGT has a strong market presence in areas prone to hurricanes, such as Florida and the Gulf Coast, which can limit access to the brand in other regions. For homeowners outside these areas, finding a dealer and securing installation may be more challenging.

Professional Installation Recommended

To ensure the integrity and performance of PGT’s impact-resistant and energy-efficient designs, professional installation is highly recommended. This often adds an extra layer of cost to the purchase, as DIY installation can void the warranty and may lead to suboptimal performance.

The Bottom Line

PGT windows are a high-quality option that brings considerable long-term value, especially for homeowners who prioritize durability, energy savings, and storm protection. While the upfront cost may be higher than some competitors, PGT’s attention to quality materials, professional installation, and energy-efficient designs make these windows a worthwhile investment for those seeking premium-grade products.

Bought new hurricane windows from a dealer who installed for PGT. Love my windows. I cannot hear any sound and the house is kept at a cooler temperature. Expensive investment but I am glad I went with this company.
