The Good

  • Strong Brand Reputation
  • Cost Transparency
  • Variety of Products and Services

Strong Brand Reputation

For over 90 years, Pella has been one of the most recognized names in the window industry and has a widespread network of dealers and showrooms in 35 out of 50 states. This availability makes it easy for customers to view products in person, consult with professionals, and arrange for installation. Additionally, Pella offers a diverse range of window styles and materials to suit different needs. Whether you need vinyl, wood, or fiberglass windows, Pella has options to match various budgets and design preferences. Their window styles include single-hung, double-hung, casement, sliding, bay, bow, and awning windows. Pella has built a strong reputation for themselves based on accessibility and product diversity.

Variety of Products and Services

Even though Pella mainly specializes in window services, the company also offers Insynctive Technology. Pella's Insynctive Technology offers wireless sensors for windows and doors to keep its customers' homes secure and comfortable, as well as motorized blinds and shades to make homes even more functional by allowing customers to control blinds and shades from anywhere in the room with a remote control.

Cost Transparency

Pella provides clear and transparent pricing for their windows products, although cost may vary depending on various factors such as material, window type, size, and customization options. The average cost for Pella windows ranges from $300 to $3,500 per window. Below is a general breakdown of the cost range for Pella windows:

  • Vinyl Windows: $250 to $600 per window (including installation)
  • Wood Windows: $600 to $1,200 per window (including installation)
  • Fiberglass Windows: $800 to $1,500 per window (including installation)
  • Custom or Specialty Windows: Prices can exceed $2,000 per window, depending on the materials, size, and customization

Lifetime Warranty

Pella Corporation offers a limited lifetime warranty to its customers. The warranty automatically comes with the product when purchased. Receiving a lifetime warranty on the product purchased should give customers confidence in the company they have chosen to do business with. Pella warranties are also transferable, which can enhance a home’s resale value. However, specific terms may vary by product and installer.

The Bad

  • Premium Price Point
  • Varying Installation Costs

Premium Price Point

Pella windows tend to be more expensive compared to other brands, particularly when it comes to their premium wood and fiberglass models. While the quality and performance justify the price for many customers, budget-conscious buyers may find Pella’s products less affordable than lower-cost alternatives like vinyl-only brands. Despite the higher overall cost, Pella offers several different product lines to meet different budgets:

  • 250 Series - $250–$850
  • Encompass - $200–$900
  • Lifestyle - $300–$1,500
  • Impervia - $300–$1,700
  • Defender - $700–$1,500
  • Hurricane Shield - $700–$1,500
  • Architect - $1,200–$2,700
  • Reserve - $1,300–$3,000

Varying Installation Costs

While Pella offers in-house installation services through Certified Pella Contractors, the cost of installation can vary greatly depending on the location, window type, and complexity of the job. Improper installation can affect window performance, so it’s crucial to ensure professional, experienced installers are used, which can add to the overall cost.

gavel

The Bottom Line

If you are looking for a new windows company with almost a century of experience and a wide variety of products, Pella Corporation may be the company for you. It provides a limited lifetime warranty on all products purchased and also offers doors, blinds, shades, and Insynctive Technology.

I converted a 3-season porch to a family room/home theater. The view from the room is priceless- an unobstructed view of a river, forest, and associated wildlife. We resolved the issue of having a room dark enough when wanted while being able to keep the beautiful commune with nature, using the architect series windows and doors- the ones with the built in blinds- and the invisible screens. During recent extremely cold weather, I felt the windows which didn’t transmit the cold. The door is extremely secure. And they are beautiful. An additional bonus is we added more than 450 square feet of heated area without having to change the furnace.

When the day finally came for my windows to be delivered, I was pleased to discover that Pella offered free shipping as part of their service. This added perk not only saved me money but also made the entire buying experience even more satisfying. The delivery process was smooth, with the windows arriving in pristine condition, ready to be installed.

We invested in new windows and French doors while we were remodeling our house. Researching windows, we found that Pella is THE top of the line window company in the country. The windows are wood framed double pane windows and are a step above the other window companies. Yes, they are a little higher than their competitor, but the quality that you are getting and the longevity of the product, all adds up to never having to replace windows again. They are the BEST.

The quality craftsmanship and innovative designs align with my preference for durable and aesthetically pleasing home elements. The customizable options and energy-efficient features add value. While the higher upfront cost is notable, the long-term durability and Pella's reputation for excellence make it a trusted brand for enhancing my home's appearance and efficiency.

My husband and I purchased Pella windows through our local Lowe's store in Texas. We were extremely pleased with the quick and professional installation, We also had an issue with some of the window screens not being properly fit to the frame due to the screen having been made by the factory incorrectly. There were only 2 or 3 out of 14 that were made "too tight" and was causing the frame not sitting in the frame properly. Pella sent out a full replacement for ALL the windows we had purchased. We did call Pella to let them know we only needed to replace 2 or 3 but they insisted that we keep the additional ones sent just in case they were needed later. WHAT A DEAL AND JESTURE OF GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE! Would definitely recommend them for any installs one might have.

When we had our new house built, we selected Pella windows because of their design and reputation. We have a modern house with quite large great room windows, and with many arched windows throughout the home. I was very pleased with the quality of the windows, their features, and their operation. All of the windows were ordered with encased mini-blinds, double panes, and crank-open operation. The blinds open/close and raise/lower effortlessly. I have had these windows for six years and they still remain fully functional with no failures of any kind. Additionally, the windowpanes are still sealed as well now as the day they were installed.

I had Pella windows installed with double pane for efficiency to lower my bills, my other windows were just costing too much money. After installing the new windows I noticed a drop in my bill and think ,y cost of this project will pay for itself in another year. Very happy

I used Pella for two replacement windows and a patio door with great results. We live in northern Minnesota so performance in the cold months is critical . We have never experienced any frost on the inside nor have we felt any drafts. Yes, they are a bit more expensive than some brands but clearly are worth it.

We purchased 18 Pella 250 series windows. They are made with very good glass and are big and bright. We know that Pella is a good brand and they live up to their reputation. The frames are well made and they are well insulated

Just installed new windows myself and was a bit nervous not being a regular installer. I was pleasantly surprised now easy it was until I got to the window crank and removed the install 'plug' plastic piece. I thought I broke something until I looks at the instructions. I put on the final piece and it just popped into place - final outcome was that I was very pleased. Only negative was that I wised Pella had a way to order custom screens.

Pella's products are amazing but if you need service, you are in trouble. I have Pella windows and a sliding glass door. I have never had a problem with the windows and have not needed to call Pella. My sliding glass door was broken twice in 2 years and both times I had to wait months to get a hold of Pella to get them to come out for replacement. Be aware that they are a very good product, but if you need service for the product be aware that you will wait a long time for them to come out and you will have to pay in advance before they will even schedule you for service.

Loved the new windows but was told they don't clean the windows after installation- it wasn't until I tweeted at Pella that someone came back and cleaned the windows that they just installed - really , new windows tht cost thousands and they expected me to get on a ladder / scaffold to clean the windows. Still leaves a "poor initial customer service " feeling.

We brought a new home that has a beautiful patio, but very damaged doors. A friend recommended Pella, they gave us an estimate that was very expensive to say the least, but upon reading reviews the quality would be worth the cost. The technician was absolutely hilarious he made for great company while being knowledgeable and professional. The patio doors are absolutely beautiful, I would definitely recommend Pella yes they're pricey but well worth it money.

When we recently remodeled, we went with Pella windows. I have noticed a big difference in the room especially where we have UV protection windows. It holds in the heat in the winter, and stays cooler during the Summer. I feel like my utility bill is reasonable for the house size now.

We had to replace 25+ windows in our home about a year after purchase and while Pella was not the cheapest, they have been the best value. Our heating and cooling bills have been reduced pretty significantly with the effectiveness of our windows. In particular, we got the sun guard on 8 of our windows that see almost 8 hours of direct sunlight in the summer, and our impacted rooms stay dramatically cooler. I'm taking off one star because a number of the windows were delivered without the locks, but Pella shipped a whole box full of them (more than we needed) to be installed.

4-5 years ago, I spent nearly $100,000 to install all new Pella windows and doors in my house. Today, when it rains, all three of my Pella sliding glass doors leak. These leaks have caused significant damage to my home. A Pella service person recently came out to inspect the problem and determined the seal around the glass on the doors has failed. He said that 8 of the 12 glass panels (4 panels per door) in the doors need to be “reglazed”. That’s a 67% fail rate in a relatively short time. Pella just informed me I’ll need to pay $500 per glass panel to have them reglazed since they only carry a 2-year warranty for labor. The warranty to reglaze only carries a 1-year warranty. Based on my experience, I would steer away from Pella. In all the homes I’ve owned I’ve never had such a problem. Not even with old windows. But to have this kind of problem with a relatively new product, and then have to pay to fix the product, is downright unacceptable.

Builders and general contractors once thought Pella was a high end product, but recent experiences such as recalls, lawsuits, and class action payouts have made me leery of Pella. It seems that they have had faulty product lines for years now. I know they say it has all been corrected but the reputation damage is done and hard to look past.

We were told that our single window (replacement for tornado damage) would arrive on 8/9. On 8/9, I inquired about arrival. They told me it would now be 9/6. No communication whatsoever prior. I indicated that this would delay our repairs and they needed to find a better solution. No respond to my email. After another email, on 8/21, I got a call indicating the window would arrive on 8/29, which we can work with. Communication...the key to customer satisfaction.
