Variety of Window Types

Lowe’s provides a variety of vinyl and wood window types. Vinyl is one of the more common window materials in the industry, as it is more resistant to heat transfer and condensation. Wood windows offer superior insulation, but they may require a higher level of maintenance than vinyl windows. Lowe’s provides the following window types in both materials:

Lowe’s provides average pricing for each window type in vinyl or wood, it’s worth noting that wood windows are more expensive to install than vinyl windows. Wood window installations range in price from approximately $1,000 to $12,000 depending on window type, permit fees, taxes, etc. On the other hand, vinyl window installations range from approximately $800 to $5,000 depending on window type, permit fees, and taxes.

New Window Installation Process

The Lowe’s window installation process is relatively simple and straightforward. You’ll begin with an in-house consultation with a Lowe’s window project specialist. The specialist will discuss your budget and requirements with you, and share samples and review available materials and window types.

After your initial consultation, a window professional will come to your home to take measurements of window openings. You’ll be given a project quote, including all labor and materials.

The window installation itself will be done by a licensed professional installer from the Lowe’s contractor network.

Lowe’s Double Lifetime Window Warranty

All Lowe’s installations come with a standard one year warranty. After this one year period, your Lowe’s Double Lifetime Window Warranty protection will begin.

The Lowe’s Double Lifetime Window Warranty is a manufacturer warranty and covers all window components and adjustments, including repairs due to glass breakage or leaks. It’s important to note that some labor coverage is available under this warranty, but only for a specific period of time; for example, labor costs to repair a window due to leakage is covered only from the warranty start date for up to 5 years.

The Lowe’s Double Lifetime Window Warranty provides you with protection for as long as you live in your home and the warranty is transferable to a subsequent homeowner.

Lowe’s 120-Month Special Financing Program

Lowe’s offers financing through its Lowe’s Advantage Card. If you’re a Lowe’s Advantage cardholder, you can ask for 120 fixed monthly payments for purchases/installations of $2,500 or more. Interest will be assessed at the time of purchase, but you can typically expect an interest rate of 9.99 percent APR. It’s important to note that the standard APR for new Lowe’s Advantage cardholders is 28.99 percent APR.

While most windows feature increased insulation and glass technology, providing customers with more energy efficient window options, Lowe’s doesn’t provide specific information about window energy efficiency. This lack of information doesn’t mean that the company offers windows that aren’t energy efficient, but if this is something you’re particularly interested in or concerned about, you’ll need to ask a Lowe’s window specialist about energy efficient window options.

Third-Party Contracted Installers

Lowe’s has a network of local professional installers that are equipped to do a variety of installations. While this allows Lowe’s to provide installation services nationwide, working with a contracted installer may be a drawback because contractors are often independent and Lowe’s can’t necessarily always guarantee speed and/or quality of work. That being said, Lowe’s vets contractors to ensure that they provide high-quality workmanship.
