We had uhaul put a brake Controller on my SUV and they ran a wire over my gas pedal. Every time o pressed the gas beyond a certain point, my pedal was held down causing me to almost crash off a mountain road in Colorado. It was not until I could get into a parking lot to discover what had actually happened. I called the uhaul in Denver Colorado and they fixed the problem.

i have used this service several times. It is very inconsistent, and sometimes i have to wait for a scheduled appointment. Sometimes, they do not have the promised vehicle available. The vehicles are usually dirty and every thing is ala carte.

Last time I used uhaul I was extremely dissatisfied. I reserved my truck online with my Walmart debit card that has as a checking account number and routing number. I had used it on several occasions before and had gone fine. However I was called twice and had missed the calls as I was busy moving. The second voicemail I received was telling me I needed another form of payment otherwise they were going to file a police report for a stolen vehicle. After talking with someone at the 800 number they said nothing could be done and that I needed to return the truck ASAP unless I had another form of payment otherwise the authorities would be called. I unloaded the truck and told them the keys were in it and parked on the street outside my home and that they could come pick it up as I was not going to spend the gas money to drive it back. They did not pick it up for almost 36 hours!

I like how easy the mobile check out process was. It was pretty fantastic. However, I hated that the truck was somewhat dirty and I was asked to fill up the truck with more gas for a credit. I do not think that is a far thing to ask. Price was affordable but the truck I really wanted was not available.

The trucks are worn and tired. They do not repair damage from prevous renters. I am sure they bill them for the damage. You have to take pictures of all damage on the truck when you rent it and then upload them to their server. It takes about a half hour of your time. If you do not, then you are charged for someone else's damage.

UHaul is my #2 moving truck company. The reason being is their trucks are cheaper than the others, but they are not very clean. The box trucks are usually grimmy. Not a good thing for decent furniture. Very good for short moving distances and worth the money.

We had reserved a moving van online. When we got to the location to pick it up it was not there and we had to rent a different size. When we returned the van they said it was dirty and they would charge us for cleaning or I could go sweep it out. I opted to sweep it out. There was literally maybe a 1/2 cup of dirt that I swept out.

I used U-Haul to move 45 minutes away from my original home. The truck was fine and everything was great, it was just SO expensive to have workers help out for a couple of hours. It was not worth it and I just begged family members to come help. Like I said though, the truck was great.

I love the random facts on U-Haul trucks though I hate the fine print of every contract I must sign. Still, the sheer ubiquity of U-Haul gives it a leg up on competitors. They know you pay for that convienience.
