The Good

  • Range of Medicare Plans
  • Convenient Shopping Experience
  • Good Client Support

Range of Medicare Plans

AARP Medicare plans are through UnitedHealthcare, a well-known health insurer. UnitedHealthcare offers AARP Medicare Advantage, Medicare Prescription Drug, Medicare Supplement Insurance, and combined Medicaid and Medicare plans.

While Part A and Part B (Original Medicare) are only available through a federal agency, a Medicare Advantage plan offers similar coverage.

Medigap plan availability may also vary. However, most Medicare beneficiaries should be able to find a Medicare plan from AARP's selection.

Convenient Shopping Experience

Some websites require demographic and contact information before showing visitors the available plans and estimated rates. While supplying demographic information can increase the accuracy of the quotes, it's nice to only have to provide your zip code.

It's also great that the AARP Medicare site does not require contact information for viewing available plans. This prevents Medicare shoppers receiving sales calls. Shopping for AARP Medicare plans from UnitedHealthcare is a convenient process.

Good Client Support

AARP works with UnitedHealthcare to offer good customer support. Medicare shoppers can meet with a licensed agent in person, chat with one online, or call.

The AARP's Medicare website also has Medicare educational resources to help shoppers understand Medicare. Shoppers can also request a free Decision Guide for Medicare Supplement Plans and a general Medicare Guide to help you understand Medicare benefits.

We've only been with AARP for about a year now. Haven't seen the many benefits we were expecting. The insurance has been good and dependable though
