Regarding the size, the rechargeable batteries do make the band bigger than that of most smartwatches, but the design intent is that our wearers never have to take their Kanega Watch off to charge - providing real 24/7 protection. We have many happy wearers who have never had to replace their watch after a number of years who might disagree with your assessment regarding the finish and materials. That said, about 2-3% of our wearers can have issues changing the batteries and, in forcing the batteries into and out of the watch, breakage can occur. We have a pretty generous replacement policy when that occurs. We also review every watch that comes back to assess ways to improve the experience going forward for all our wearers. Too heavy. Closure mechanism unclasped and falls off arm. Can go off without provocation, yet takes several minutes to respond when actually needed. I can reach 911 much quicker while I am waiting for UnaliWear to respond and I had to ask for a family member to be contacted. If Battery can fall out easily. You can tell that a certain connection is loose. A UnaliWear rep is working with me to obtain a stretch band. Why wasn't that offered initially like choice of color was?

We are really sorry you are so disappointed with your Kanega Watch, but happy to know you are wearing it regularly. It's true the watch has more ways to get help than traditional medical alert devices, and two of those ways - voice and fall detection - can cause false alerts. That said, we will have one of our Customer Service team members reach out to you, as we can adjust the sensitivity of your alert systems remotely at your request. In terms of emergency response, the average time is approx. 30 seconds - though that time can vary. The batteries snap into place and are locked in through the battery prongs. When our Customer Success team member calls you, he or she will see if they can be more helpful regarding this process with you. Thank you for your review. Regarding the batteries, we have wearers in age from 25-103. The battery system, which means your father never has to remove his watch to charge, is designed for those with limited dexterity. We are sorry he is having issues. If it would help, our Customer Success Team would be happy to speak with him directly about any issues he is having changing the batteries. Regarding the voice activation, some wearers find that asking the watch for the time a few times a day helps build the habit/memory of using our wake word to activate the watch using the wearer's voice (just like Alexa or Siri). Alternatively, if he is never going to be able to use the voice command feature, we can turn it off remotely (leaving him the ability to get help via button or fall detection, neither of which requires him to use his voice to activate), to simplify the watch experience for him. If that is something you think would be helpful, please let us know and we would be happy to reconfigure his watch remotely that way. All the best and stay well and safe.

While my Unaliwear watch did register several of my falls, it registered more “ false alarms.” The company did reduce the sensitivity of the device, but I have continued to get these notifications when, for example, I simply lower my arm in my chair. Overall, for the price, this watch has not proved totally satisfactory to me.

The watch can take time to adjust to your personal movements and it looks like you have only been wearing it for a few weeks or so. As you know, you can simply push the crown button to disable the fall alert and that helps the watch learn your personal movements faster. We are also really happy to hear that the watch has detected several of your actual falls. Note, we can remotely lower your fall detection sensitivity further at your request. We will have our customer success team contact you to see if that would be something you would like us to do for you. Note also that you did not purchase the watch - the watch came with the service. Just to clarify, you don't need to use your voice to get help via the watch's built-in Automatic Fall Detection or by pushing the discrete crown button of the watch. Regarding the batteries, with very numb fingers, we can understand this may be difficult for you. We are sorry. Our batteries are designed to last 24-36 hours. If you are not getting that level of coverage, we can replace your batteries at no charge to you. Regarding the battery holder, that rarely breaks and when it does it is almost always due to wearers forcing the batteries into and out of the watch, which causes the holders to fracture over time. One note - regarding the watch having a black screen in the shower, the watch face is black unless you do one of five things to light it up:
1. Trigger the fall detection
2. Trigger the voice activation
3. Ask the watch for help, the time and/or the date
4. Push the crown button
5. Turn the watch to your face (the haptics of that movement of lifting your wrist and turning to your face cause the watch to light up)

We are sorry for your negative experience, but we are a bit confused by your review, due to the following:
1. The watch is fall detection, button and voice activated. It is rare that wearers tell us they have issues holding down the crown button of the watch to get help, but you can always just use your voice to get help. No other system on the market offers this feature.
2. The batteries last 24-36 hours on a single charge. In order to ensure wearers never have to take their watch off to charge, we use this patented battery system. The available size of the batteries to fit in the watch band dictates how long they can go before needing to be recharged. It's about a 5 second procedure to swap out the batteries (we usually tell people just to do it when they are brushing their teeth, to create an easy habit - though the watch will tell you when the batteries need to be changed, as well).
3. You are able to adjust the sensitivity of the fall detection if you are getting too many false alerts. Just contact our Customer Success Team at 888-343-1513 and press option 1 for prompt service (as we can adjust this on your watch remotely). In addition, over time the watch learns your movements, naturally reducing false alerts. Again, no other system on the market offers this feature.
