The Good

  • High-Speed Internet
  • Security Features Included
  • 90-Day Money-Back Guarantee

High-Speed Internet

Mediacom offers some of the fastest high-speed broadband internet available. Most of its plans have download speeds as fast as 60 Mbps and upload speeds as fast as 5 Mbps, which is much faster than any DSL internet service. Here are Mediacom's internet packages:

  • Internet 60 — $39.99 per month, 60 Mbps
  • Internet 100 — $79.99 per month, 100 Mbps
  • Internet 200 — $99.99 per month, 200 Mbps
  • Internet 500 — $119.99 per month, 500 Mbps
  • Internet 1 Gig — $129.99 per month, 1,000 Mbps

Mediacom also has data caps that max out at 400 GB for Internet 60 and rise incrementally with each package.

Security Features Included

Included with the per month cost of Mediacom internet service are security and spam services by Internet Security Suite by Total Defense. These features ensure that customers are protected from malware and viruses.

Mediacom also has 24/7 customer support available.

90-Day Money-Back Guarantee

Mediacom also has a 90-day money-back guarantee. 30-day money-back guarantees are common among internet service providers, so 90 days gives customers more time to decide whether they like the service they receive.

The Bad

  • Limited Availability
  • Additional Fees

Limited Availability

Mediacom is only available in 21 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

If you are not in one of Mediacom’s service areas, you’ll need to look for another provider. For more specific information on availability, check the company’s website.

Additional Fees

While Mediacom does not charge early termination fees, it does charge fees for installation, equipment (modem) rental, and activation. Customers should also pay attention to promotional rates and compare them to the regular monthly rates.

The Bottom Line

Mediacom has reliable, quality, cable internet service. Its speeds are very fast. Mediacom also provides security features to its customers, which helps keep customers’ internet secure and devices virus-free.

Unfortunately, Mediacom is only available in 21 states. Additionally, it charges installation, activation, and equipment fees. These fees can make the up-front cost of internet high. If Mediacom is available in your area, it is a good choice. As with any internet service provider, be sure you understand the terms and conditions before signing up.

They’re service is horrible and the internet is awful as well. The only reason I’m still with them is because there’s no other option.

They go down too often. We have to reset modem quite frequently. Not a fan but few choices.
