GreenPlus Option

Home Warranty of America is a member of Ethical Directory and United States Green Products. With that being said, the company offers a service known as GreenPlus for an additional fee. Home warranty is worth it !!! At time we think well I’m not going to have an issue or this not going to happen to me and once it does you waste more money out of pocket to do it yourself or hire someone else to fix it. While with home warranty you make a claim then they get back to you and it covers . Just keep in mind they do have certain things in home that it covers so always double check which plan you have . Other than that , only a small fee has to be paid which is better than an overall cost . They will get in contact with you really quick and customer service is great with scheduling your appointment they will work with you . I would totally recommend it , especially for first time home buyers and keep renewing it .

I liked it. Here is a 'funny' story for the reader. I called because my Kenmore dryer stopped drying. Those things don't break down, but mine did. I tried along with another person to correct the issue before calling you, but not no luck. The friendly person came out to take a look and after pulling the appliance from the wall, he started to laugh. As it turns out the exhaust vent piping was extremely long and lint was clogging up the ventilation causing the dryer to fail. We laughed, I paid up and cleaned out the pipping after reducing the size and removing all the 'stuff'. The man was very friendly and I am grateful that it worked out okay!

I called about a leak in my front lawn not realizing that it wasn’t covered in my policy and the customer service representative on the phone with me was very helpful when explaining to me where in my contract it was stated. I was disappointed and it probably transferred to my speech but she was still very professional when speaking with me so I can’t complain.

It would be nice if the customer can help find a technician to come out, although the company dispatch one in a timely manner, the appointment wasn't scheduled for another week and my a/c was out in the middle of summer. I placed a repair concern 4 weeks ago. I am still waiting on a contractor or the company to contact me. I have home warranty insurance to repair what needs to be repaired and I feel a 4 week wait to fix my a/c duct work is not acceptable! I went into my attic and did a temporary fix before I placed my order. This is not the first time I was expected to find my own contractor and then submit to HWA for approval on service. I had a water heater issue which needed to be replaced per the vendor who assessed it. Despite approval by HWA, it’s took over 3 weeks with constant back to back between the vendor and HWA. The case managers do not respond to emails or pick up calls while their call center which is outside the country appears unable to help. I will seriously reconsider my renewal with them. Of note, I ended up paying for a new heater and seeking a refund from them, which they refunded only 50% of the cost.

The last time I had to use my warranty, it was a disaster. The technician they sent out didn't have a clue how to fix the problem, and when he couldn't figure it out, he just disappeared. RUN!!!! I truly wish I could give 0 stars. This company has terrible customer service. The technicians that come to your house are often arriving in their persona unmarked vehicles , no verification of their credentials, and often upcharge so you end up paying the same out of pocket without a warranty. We recently had our water heater go out. It took 5 days until the technician assigned could replace it. We were charged $800 for a new water heater and “modifications “, not just the $100 service fee. HWA only paid for the water heater and labor. They didn’t cover the pipes connecting the same standard water heater, pan, and other small items. I spoke with customer service and a case manager who would only recite the policy to me. I should have just paid out of pocket, gotten it replaced day 1, and picked a trustworthy company who insures their work. This is only one bad experience we have had. Unfortunately, there have been multiple other similar incidents. It is NOT worth the money! Do not buy into this home warranty company!

If they do cover the appliance that is broken it takes a month for someone to come. If it cost to much they will give you a egift card to buy a new appliance however it isn't for the full amount and it takes another 30 days to get it.

Today when I called them, the nationality of the guy that spoke to, I could hardly understand him, he knows English, his accent was so strong. I just couldn't hear everything he said, and that's not uncommon. It does seem like they have some technicalities that are deceptive. For example, I had a water heater replaced, and the guy gave me a quote and everything was fine. And they said they'd cover this much. And I go, "Why are you not paying 400 and some dollars?" They said "Because of the pan and the other thing. " It was the pan for the water heater and the two types are like $30. And you replace, to get take them apart and replace them anyway. So basically, they had a technicality written into their contract that allowed them to charge 400 and some dollars for $25 worth of work or product. And it's just a way, a deceptive dishonest way of not paying for the water heater. Then they did the same thing on my furnace.

It was really just sort of a series of an unfortunate event, but we called in two or three things. Over a period of time, it was just misunderstandings, but they had a feeling thing I needed replacing. It was the heater in the bathroom with the exhaust fan. And so in trying to get that sorted out, my sister got sick and died and I just couldn't call him back or go online or do any of the things that I should have been to follow up. But, then they just closed the claim and that was frustrating. We paid somebody $85 to come and look at it and I just started over. Part of it was my fault, but part of it was their fault as well. They do send people to come and fix things and so far, although one of them has been capable and done a good job and you know, so I still don't have a heater in the bathroom, but I think someone's working on it. So we'll see how that comes out. It seems like they have a little bit of trouble communicating, but I have a 3-year agreement with them, which I can cancel at any time, and I don't plan to cancel it.

When we call them they've been very responsive to us, gotten back to us pretty quickly. We had an issue with our toilet, basically smelling. We first bought the house, we called them up to see what was going on with it. And they sent a tech out within about 2 days. They sent us the information about the tech, and then they came out in a couple of days and then fixed the toilet up pretty quickly. So I'm pretty impressed with that.

They were very customer oriented and they helped me with the solutions and scheduled the repair on time. And all the communication was very good, too. My water heater was not working and I didn't know what the problem was. So the technician came and he checked, and he was able to find what the problem was. It was the clip, the overload, he reset it, and then I started getting water.

It sometimes takes too long for them to actually get somebody out here for repair, by going through due process and scheduling a visit. The most recent one was that we were having a problem with our furnace in the attic of our home. The technician came out, identified the problem, and ordered the part. Another technician came by in a few days and replaced the part of the circuit board and the furnace. We've actually used them quite a bit for various systems in the house and a pool, so it's all been pretty positive.

I had a furnace that was 15+ years old, and I was just having a routine service and we found out it was in bad shape. So at that point, I actually opened the claim they provided a technician. They opened the claim that I requested quickly, and then the turnaround to get somebody out to actually investigate the problem was within a day or two. They confirmed what the servicing company identified and they were quick and responsive.

They got to the job right away. The person that came out was very, very nice, very knowledgeable, and he gets the job done. Our dishwasher wasn't emptying, and the guy came out and told us to try something, like a thorough cleaning, and then we had to call him out again. When he came out we had done the thorough cleaning, but it still would have a little bit of water, but then he was able to fix it.

Very quick response time, quick scheduling time, and the professional was great. My garbage disposal was not functioning. I put the recall in the very next day I received an email with the scheduled technician for a couple of days later. The scheduled technician came in. He looked at it real quick. He knew it needed to be replaced. He went out, called, got the approval, and had the replacement unit in his truck. He came in, fixed it, and that was the end of that. Everything was just very fast. I thought it was all fabulous.

I like their professionalism. When I first moved to my home, our water tank went out, they came out and observe and found out that I needed a brand new water tank, which they replaced. I just recently used them about a week ago for my garbage disposal that had worn out. So they came and replaced it. The only problem I have is when you talk to a representative, it's hard to understand because they have broken English. That's the only negative thing that they have, outside of that they are exceptionally well.

The last repair I had done on my oven was good. The technician was friendly and professional. Appointment for diagnosing the problem was done within a week. Parts were ordered and the repair was done 2 weeks later. However, the claim I submitted before this one, where I had a leak under my kitchen sink was horrible!! It took over 6 weeks just to assign the claim. A week or so later an appointment was set up to diagnose the problem. The technician was supposed to show up between 8 am and 3 pm. He showed up at 5 pm. No "I'm sorry I'm late," nothing. I needed a new faucet. He said he could come back the next day at noon. I went out and bought a faucet. He never showed up the next day. Never called. Nothing. He showed up the following day at 6 pm. I told him to leave, we were canceling his service. I called HWA and told them to assign me another technician. Took awhile to get another plumber scheduled. I did finally get the new faucet put in. I had been using a bucket under my sink for 3 months.

Several years ago, the cooling system upstairs , the cooling system for the upstairs, a man that I guess you know you all called on to come out here and take care of it. He was just impossible. It had nothing to do with home warranty. I think you all probably discharged him. But on a positive note, gosh, we we've had technicians out here, one time our freezer wasn't working properly. We couldn't get water or ice out of the dispenser or anything. And the nicest gentleman, this has been several years ago. I think he's done some other work, he replaced the microwave and oh gosh, it seems like he, he worked on the refrigerator a couple of times. But very polite, very efficient, you know, it just went like a breeze. And this last guy that came out about our downstairs unit, he is so respectful and he's not afraid of my barking dog and he's efficient. He tells you what time he'll be on site and he is, he's just really great.
