I had a problem with my water heater and the company refused to replace a part with the exact part because it was too expensive so the tech had to make adjustments and the adjustments weren’t covered so having this warranty is uselessl.

We are in our fifth week without our HVAC. It is so cold. It already was having problems with the cooling the last couple months of summer. They sent a tech he got it to run for two days. He said the unit needed replaced. We paid him his fee. They sent him again. Again he got it running. He told us to run it for 4-5 hours, then turn it off for 2 hours-repeat. He said that might last until he could get the claim through to replace the unit. We didn’t hear anything. Then the HVAC quit completely. They kept saying the tech did not get back to them. One rep said they were reassigning the ticket; they did not. After calling for several days, did finally reassign it. The new tech finally got. He told us the HVAC should have been shut down. It could have caught fire or exploded. He said the HVAC needed replaced; it was 30 years old. (The house is 22 years old). They were to come out today but canceled-weather. I called Choice Home Warranty. They said they could not do anything; I would have to go online to reschedule. Once online it wants you to agree to pay a $139 diagnostic fee. I’ve already paid two fees. It has been below freezing so much during this time. We have had snow. It is going down in the single digits tonight. We have bought 4space heaters to try to keep the temperature in the house above 60°. I filed complaints with the BBB, the FTC, the New Jersey Consumer Department and the Tennessee Consumer Department. We are at a loss. We are old (70 & 92) and we are cold.

Technician was kind and thorough. He has belped us a couple of times. As for CHW, they need to improve their communication with policy holders. They cant just set up an appointment without first asking (calling over the phone) if the day and time is okay with the policy holder. They are horrible at communicating with their customers.

I liked how fast they got someone to come out and check my heater but I was very disappointed that the technician did not get my heater working fully! He got my heater to turn on but said that he couldn’t get the fuel flowing into it because it wasn’t in the contract details? He told me I had to get the fuel in the line and use a shop vac to draw the fuel in? I was confused as to why he wasn’t aloud to do that? If he’s a HVAC tech why wouldn’t he finish the job to get my heater to actually produce heat?

So far I love everything about the company and service EXCEPT having to pay a separate co-pay on each appliance, even when it's the same guy talking to my wife about servicing additional appliances as he was repairing the leaking clothes washing machine. That was not the policy with our previous home warranty company, but I am still glad we switched to Choice.

We have had Choice for a few years now. Never had a problem. This time our heater broke when it freezing outside. It took Choice 2 technician visits and a final visit to fix the issue. I wish there was a quicker way to process claims like this. The technician said he had everything on the first day to fix our unit. Instead we went 10 additional days without heat. Our home was 50 degrees in the mornings.

I'm giving three stars because at first I was led to believe this company was on the ball at serving thier customers. In January I put in a claim on one of my refrigerators which I keep in my garage. The service technician came out and recommended the refrigerator be replaced because he couldn't find the part that was needed, I agreed to a lowes gift card that would help in replacing the refrigerator for I believe 495.00, which I haven't received yet they said I have up to 30 day to receive. Haven't heard anything yet giving it until the first of March before I reach out again. I want to think good of this company, but I'm a little optimistic now until I get results.

It’s easy to notify Choice of a problem. I have to wait all day for service from the vendor. Their window is 8-5, so the whole day! That’s bad enough one day for a repair, but they never have the parts, with the exception of the plumber. Sear service never has the part and we had at least 5 calls for a repair they had trouble solving. How much vacation time do you have to take off for an ice maker repair?????

I called for electrical help and plumbing help. Electrical was great. Plumbing however has not been helpful at all. The first company kept canceling me. So I canceled them. I rescheduled, unfortunately, I came down with Covid. I called again after a couple of weeks. I received a message last week that it had been scheduled. However, I was going to be out of town on the date. I called Northside plumbing to get another date and I wasn't even on their schedule. They had never heard of me or the job. I had 3 faucets to change (leaking). After the first company couldn't make time for my job I decided to change them (2) myself. I guess I'll change the 3rd one as well.

We used choice for a broken microwave. He came and repaired it and I gave him a check. Several weeks later I get a notice from choice to pay the 65.00. I wrote back stating I paid it. Again a week later I received another letter (email) asking for payment! I replied with check amount and check number. Again I got another email! I was not a happy camper and called. The lady said she would get in touch with the man who fixed it. He said yes it was paid. So the lady called me back and said not to worry about it!

Choice Home Warranty was responsive to our communication but the technician they assigned to us was totally disinterested and never responded to any calls. Taken over a month to get some sort of resolution on repairing a microwave (which is now being replaced after technician never bothered to return to properly finish the repair job). Even then the replacement value offered by them is less than the cost of the cheapest possible microwave.

We had a refrigerator problem and they were very prompt. They sent out a technician, but he never got back with us. After a week I called Choice back and they contacted him and said that he would call us. He never did. It took two weeks. Choice finally has got us another technician coming out, but it's going to be over a week before they can get here and that's gonna make over three weeks we've been without a refrigerator. The customer support has been great, but they just haven't been able to get anyone out here and tell us what to do about our refrigerator.

Called for service on an oven. Received a text stating that no technician was available through Choice Home Warranty. Text advised that I locate someone on my own and submit a claim. I did locate a local repair technician and scheduled them for $135 fee. The oven was deemed unrepairable due to age and parts were no longer available or rebuildable (obsolete control board) 10 days later a Choise Home Warranty technician called to schedule a repair. I told him that as Choice suggested i got a repair company and ultimately the oven had now been replaced. $385 install fed plus the cost of a new double oven.. $5900 .(2 days before Thanksgiving) He stated that he woukd need to verify the oven was not repairable...for another $100 fee. But the old oven is now gone. So, now what? Choice has gone silent and im out over $6,000 . (But the new oven did cook a fantastic turkey)

Small breakdowns work out fine. Big ones are bad news. You will NOT get a replacement as advertised, read the small print. Secondly you are giving a gift card for Lowes which will arrive about a month after the breakdown and the price will cover less than half of the cost. Have a refrigerator go bad, you are in for a shock. A gift card will arrive in about 3 weeks or more. See one on sale at another store, too bad! How does one get along without a refrigerator for a month? How about a dish washer, wash dishes by hand for a month waiting for the gift card and when it comes it will cover less than half of the cost. If it's repairable you are in luck, it will be repaired quickly. I will not be renewing.

I didn’t like that we had no hot water for 2 1/2 weeks. The first technician you sent out said we needed a new water heater, but apparently that was not satisfactory. You had to send another out a week later to confirm the first report and then it was another week before the new water heater was installed. I thought this item was covered when I bought your warranty plan, but it actually cost me a total of $365. That was not what I expected when I bought this warranty that was supposed to cover this item.

I am really not satisfied with the way a vendor is booked. It took 3 different companies to finally get someone to my house to replace a fan and 2 or 3 different companies to finally make it to my house to put in a garbage disposal. FINALLY a company by the name of HOUSE REPAIRS AND MUCH MORE ran by a man named James Y has come to my rescue. From now on if I need work I will always request him because I'm tired of other companies not being willing to drive from Amarillo to Morse Texas to do work. And all of the others have complained to me that the reason is that your company is hard to get paid by and that your company will cancel them and give the job to someone else. I will not be choosing Choice Warranty again after my contract runs out. Thank you for trying but you need to get vendors who are willing to travel a bit.
