We had to have our hot water heater replaced and it was a completely trouble-free experience. We did run into an issue with the techs sent out for our washer not seeming to know what they were doing, but in the end the problem was resolved. There have been a couple of other more minor things that have been fixed without any issues.

I think the warranty is wonderful, it has been helpful since my husband cannot physically do some of the work anymore. The only complaint I have is when I call I usually get someone who I cannot understand them speak. By the time I'm done I am wore out and not sure whether I got things taken care of.

I always have to worry if I could trust the contractor you send one guy lied to me and said the air conditioning was contaminated and he wanted 12,500 for new air conditioner so I asked for a second opinion which I got and there was nothing wrong with me fixed a few parts and everything was good so you see I have to always have chest pains but I need them because I'm out of state and property me there and Heat in the desert but I have to be on my p's and q's with these people because they can lie to you the contractors they send out they may be licensed and bonded but they can also be crappy and rip us I've been through it several times American Home Shield needs to check out these people closely or take a closer look at the reputation just because their license and bonded doesn't mean they're reputable I didn't need a new air conditioner that was all b******* to ripped me out for 12,500 dollars thank you for sending out the second opinion and now I'm not red tagged anymore

8/28 - requested service 8/31 - Green Wire Bay Area came out to assess….they needed to order parts 9/14 - Green Wire was supposed to show up between 1-4pm, at 3:30pm I called to see if they were still coming. They assured me he would be here between 4-4:30pm. At 5pm they still weren’t here, so called them again and of course the office was closed. The guy finally showed up at 5:40pm. Spent 2 hours here supposedly fixing the problem, but then found another problem. Told me they would need to get approval to order the parts. I called AHS to complain as Green Wire was just flat out awful. 9/18 - AHS sent a different contractor out (Sears) to look at the washer and somehow the washer wasn’t working at all and that technician said that it looked like the previous contractor didn’t actually fix the initial problem. He told me he would need to call AHS to get approval to order that part(s). 9/20 - I called AHS to get an update. They told me that the parts were ordered but that I would need to wait 14-21 days and once the contractor received the parts they would call me to schedule a time to come out and fix it. I asked to speak with a manager. It took them 5-10 minutes to put in contact with someone on the “escalation team” and that person was just as worthless as the first person I talked to. I specifically asked to speak with someone that had more authority than the first person and all I got was someone on the escalation team with no extra authority. I asked for my service fee of $75 to be refunded. He said he would do that and to no surprise said that it would take 7-10 days for the refund to show up. That whole call was over an hour and nothing was resolved and there has been no sense of urgency whatsoever. 10/2 - called for update on the status of my washer….stagnant and keep getting the same answers….parts ordered, you have to wait 14-21 days but then he changed it to say 10-14 (well, it’s been 10 days), still haven’t seen my refund and he tells me I have to wait 14-21 days for the refund which is not what the person told me back on 9/20. By now, I am extremely angry and frustrated so I let the guy know how frustrated I am. He keeps apologizing for how long this has been taking and says “we’ll make it up to you”. I asked him how they were going to do that and he basically repeats everything he had told me about the parts being ordered, the waiting period and that the contractor will call me once the parts are in to schedule a time to come out. I asked “how is that making it up to me? These are all the things that AHS has to do and should be doing since I pay a monthly fee for this service on top of the $75 service fee each time I open a service request!” So over a month without a washer, they refuse to pay my laundromat bills, they refuse to show any sense of urgency whatsoever and I just keep being told the same thing over and over. I told him that after this is all said and done, they will be losing a customer.

Unfortunately the new part also failed, but they were back out the following day to make the repairs again. My A/C is blowing cold once again. I couldn't be happier.

Easy to request a service but when it comes to receiving an invoice, there is a challenge. The service provider Circa Service can’t provide the invoice since I did not pay them directly for the job and American Home Shield keeps putting up barricades as to why they can’t provide me with an invoice. I have had 3 different answers from 3 different agents so far. The first said she emailed it to me (which I never received), the 2nd said they couldn’t provide invoices to customers, and the 3rd said the plumber has yet to submit the invoice….it has been a week.

Rating would have been a 5 but Ai had to follow up a few times before the parts were ordered and installed within more than a month from the initial request for service. I called to have my dryer fixed. It took almost a week for repair person to show up. She took it apart did what she had to do to it I even paid $50.00 extra to have it cleaned. I got to dry 1 load of laundry before it started make a WORSE noise than it did before. I callback to have repair person come back out and was told it was going to be another 8-9 days for them to show up. So out of the last 3 weeks I’ve been able to dry 1 load of laundry! It’s a pain to load up laundry and go to laundromat to dry clothes. Repair person is supposed to show up today between 8-5, which I think they should be able to give a smaller window of time, not 9 hrs waiting for them to show up!!!

Being on a fixed income, it’s nice that I pay a fee and $400 when I file a claim whatever the problem is, it’s either fixed or the item was replaced at no extra charge. If I wanted something better than a comparable item, I just pay the difference which is what happened when we had to get a new dishwasher. Which I thought was a good deal.

I had no problem setting an appointment for service. The service tech was at my home on time the next day to solve my leaking plumbing issue. He was mannerly, clean in his company uniform, demonstrated professional knowledge of the service he was providing and spoke with me in clear English, I like that. When leaving, he looked over his shoulder to insure the area was clean and of course insuring he had all of his tools. lol I am very pleased with the service. I have been anti home warranties after a not so pleasant experience with a past work order with a different provider. That's no longer the case. I have used the Home shield warranty twice now, both times top shelf. Give them a shot if you are contemplating a service for your home. They actually show up and do the job requested without, "Well, that's good enough". If you ever hear that, the job is not quality; run those guys off. Gary

Prompt service, with great results. I've never been denied a claim in the 13 years I've been a customer. I have gotten replacements for the AC, furnace, range, dishwasher, garagedoor motor and belt, and a hot water heater. This doesn't include how much I've saved in repairs as well. The monthly price has gone up quite a bit over the years, but in the end you make a lot of your money back in the claims.

I like that AHS was able to service our problems right away to fix our problems. The only problem that I have a problem was the tech. wanted to charage me almost $400.00 for a pound and half for freon which he said we need for my A/C unit which I thought that AHS shough be included with the service call. Which he said it wasnt covered I told him no not at this time and left it at that. But I pay a monthly fee that again when a tech. is sent out it should have been covered or discounted fee.

AHS is very responsive and quick to assign vendor when you file a service order, and the work of their vendors has generally been good. On most recent claim the first service provider misdiagnosed the problem and said he couldn’t do that work, but AHS assigned a second provider immediately and he was able to find the real problem and fix it; a few days delay but a good resolution. The online system is easy to use but it could benefit from more ability to provide specifics about claim. If your problem doesn’t fit exactly with the handful of options, your claim may get assigned to the wrong specialty of vendor.

AHS has been my lifesaver for over 4 years. When you own an older home, the chances of any system failing are great, and the cost is insane. AHS has had my back with: dryer, hot water heater, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove and oven, and more plumbing line clean outs then thought possible. A few calls have taken multiple visits to fix, but AHS has stuck with it to completion.

I like that my repairs were done with the service fee as my only expense. I have had trouble getting the service person or company that I want and trust. There was one time I was not pleased with the service provided by the company that was assigned to me, and I had trouble "not getting them again" when I needed another service. I refused to let them come again when they were assigned to me. It would be very helpful if I could choose from available providers rather than having someone assigned that I do not want.

Overall great response times and service contractors. One issue with open claim for over 2 months due to contractor lack of availability, waiting 2 weeks for initial appointment, 1 week for them to place order of parts, 1 week to call to schedule repair after receiving parts, 2 week wait time for appointment availability with parts. Arrived for repair and unable due to issues which were identified during initial appointment 6 weeks prior. Another 2 weeks before they could return with appropriate staff to complete repair. Still waiting, open item. During this time AHS has been unwilling to change contractor and is not holding to SLA and required timelines for contractor actions.

I like the piece of mind AHS provides. We had a period of bad luck with our appliances, and AHS’s contractors were promptly there each time to repair the issue. Our refrigerator required replacement, and the claim process was easy to navigate. We opted for store credit towards a purchase at Lowe’s instead of a replacement. I would like to state that the HVAC company that AHS is contracted with is ethical (I researched and compared ) and this speaks loudly as to how AHS conducts their business. I like that when I put in a claim, I got a response and a contractor in a timely manner. I have been with other companies and their service was terrible. In one case I had to wait several days to be contacted by a contractor and then when they finally came, I had to wait for over 45 days for them to take care of the problem. My realtor told me that AHS was reliable and so far, she has been right. The cost for service is a little higher than other home warranty companies that I have used ($100 vs $75 or lower) but overall, it's worth the extra cost. I wasn't aware that AHS offered incentives to writing a review and to receive such a thing would have been nice.

AHS has upped their services and response time . I still struggle with understanding the agents if I call in because they are obviously located outside the US. They have recently added a question about understanding to their service feedback form. Right now all the vendors they use in our area are fairly good. It sometimes is the "luck of the draw" with who you get to do the service. It is common practice now that most service vendors do an assessment of the need on the first visit, then order a part and then have a second visit. That can be problematic when you are waiting for a water heater repair or HVAC repair.

I liked the speed that was taken for my washer problem - I was kept informed from start to finish by AHS - I was 100% pleased with AHS and with the Company chosen and with the technician who fixed my problem - my last experience with AHS was not good - granted, it was during the "horrible lockdowns" and the way that we were treated by the Government - at that time. I had great difficulty with communicating with AHS regarding my water heater issue - decided to give AHS another chance and very glad I did - thank you

American Home Shield is a great Home Warranty provider if not the best in the business. Their customer service and response is top notch and the ease of use with the client portal is not difficult. The only thing that I had to stay on top of was the contractor and making sure they sched the appt and provided the proper documentation to AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. Once they had all the documentation the claim was processed and approved within 2 business days.

I have filed one claim with AHS and was pleased with the quick response I received to my online request. A service company was assigned the same day and they responded quickly to set an appointment. I waited a few days for a tech to become available and the tech was on time as scheduled and was able to find the problem. Unfortunately, I needed a new part so had to wait for AHS to order it. The part arrived a few days later and was installed the day after it arrived. The technician was courteous, knowledgeable and fast. My washing machine is back to normal and the entire process was hassle free.

Has consistently been well worth the peace of mind knowing that items will be quickly repaired. Just as with all insurance products, it pays to opt for the higher level plans (Gold, Platinum), as we have had almost all repairs completed within 1 week of initial report. Have used AHS policies on our past three (including current) homes and has been well apprecitaed.

My home was constructed in 2007, thus it is at an age where multiple appliances begin to fail. I have read my contract and understand what is covered and what is not covered, so I have been able to maintain a positive relationship with AHS. Being an attorney and having construction and remodeling experience, even when the contractor has indicated that the repair is extraordinary and requires additional payment from me to repair beyond my standard fee, I have convinced both AHS and the contractor that it is a standard repair and covered.

I’ve contracted with several home warranty companies over the decades. AHS has been the best by far because they assign a service professional immediately, speeding up the process . A year ago my 17 year old water heater died., Within 24 hours a new one was installed. I paid 125 for service fee for which I got a brand new quality water heater installed with old one hauled away. I could not be happier with AHS, it is the best of the best based on my decades of experience with such companies.

I had one service call for my AC that resulted in three visits by the service provider American AC/Heating: one to diagnose a problem with my thermostat and, since the technician didn't have one with him and a second to replace the thermostat. Less than 48 hours later, I still had issues with my unit. A second technician came out for a third visit and was able to quickly diagnose and fix a contact switch on the outside unit. I actually had two problems (one inside/one outside) that were handled with one service call. The process of initiating my claim was easy online and getting follow-up service for the still unresolved total issue was just as seamless. The responding AC company was prompt and professional. Very happy (and much cooler now!) with both American Home Shield and American AC/Heating.

Good service overall. There was some confusion on my check up on air system. 1st repairman said there was a leak so could not perform anything without a wait to check again. He said if leak found he would put a stop leak in and that would fix the problem. The next company repairman, from a different company, was very quick and efficient. I informed him of what the last repairman from the other company said and he said he was glad that he came instead of the other guy because putting in stop leak would void all warranties of work thru American Home Shield. It appears that I got lucky and no damage was done. So far everything is working well and hope all remains that way.
