Vivint offers a comprehensive smart home solution, including a control panel hub, security cameras, home automation devices, a connected car device, and security and safety sensors. Customers can also finance their products to get a complete smart home at the start without paying for everything upfront. Here's a detailed list of Vivint's offered products:
The home security company offers security systems that are professionally installed by a Vivint smart home pro. This means that your sales rep will schedule a smart home pro to come to your home, consult with you on what your home might need, and help you determine where all the products should go. The technician connects your entire system for you and then shows you how to use it before leaving.
Vivint includes 24/7 professional monitoring by security certified agents. If homeowners want peace of mind that their houses will be protected at all times, monitoring is an important part of proper home security.
24/7 monitoring means that your alarm will send a signal to a professional monitoring center when a sensor detects a break-in, smoke, or carbon monoxide. The monitoring center will then contact you through the system's cellular two-way communication to verify whether the alarm is an actual emergency or a false alarm.
All Vivint equipment is under a lifetime warranty, while installation comes with a 120-day warranty. After 120 days, service calls are $49.
A useful offering from Vivint is its compatibility with the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, which allows homeowners access to voice-controlled control features. Vivint is also compatible with other popular technology, including the Nest Learning Thermostat, Nest Thermostat E, Philips Hue lightbulbs, and Z-Wave Alliance certified products.
Compatibility with these smart home products is especially helpful for improving energy efficiency in your home.
Customers have the option of a zero-percent interest loan for 42 or 60 months, so they can get a complete Vivint security system without having to pay for everything upfront (as with DIY systems). The accompanying service contract matches the term of the loan so that customers have service while they are paying off the products. Once a customer pays off their equipment loan, they have the ability to go to a month-to-month service subscription.
The Vivint Smart Home app is available in the app stores for both iPhone and Android devices, and you can use it to manage and control your Vivint system from anywhere. Customers can also use the Vivint app to set up rules for certain events to happen automatically when triggered by other products or at specific times during the day. For example, you can have your doors automatically lock every night at 10:00 PM or have your indoor camera record a clip whenever the front door is opened.
Vivint has an outdoor camera called the Vivint Outdoor Camera Pro. The camera includes two-way talk, hybrid wired Wi-Fi connection, a customizable surveillance zone, a 4K sensor with 1080p quality with HD zoom, a wide-angle lens with a 140-degree view, and night vision. The camera even includes what Vivint calls Smart Sentry™, which is an LED ring light on the camera that lights up and plays an alert sound to let intruders know they've been spotted.
When the camera detects motion and a person is in the camera's view for too long, that's when Smart Sentry™ is triggered. You can customize notifications so that the camera will notify you when any person approaches. If you want notifications to be more specific, you can set the alert to only notify you when someone may be loitering. The camera also automatically records 20-second auto recordings whenever something triggers the camera's motion detectors.
By using the Vivint Smart Home app, you can also access live feed of your camera at any time as well as past footage that is stored in your Vivint Smart Drive. The drive saves continuous footage for up to 30 days.
If you don't want to install the camera(s) yourself, the alarm company offers professional installation and will synch your Wi-Fi, your outdoor camera(s), and your Vivint Smart Home products together, so all of your devices are connected.
Vivint charges customers a $99 move fee if you transfer services to a new residence within the first year of a signed contract. Many home security companies offer moving services completely free of charge.
Vivint requires 42- or 60-month contracts for its security services if you choose to finance your products. Although contracts are common within the home security industry, typically they only last up to 36 months.
The upside to a long contract is Vivint gives you the choice of a zero-percent interest loan for the length of the contract, which may make the long-term contract worth it for some customers.
Customers can get a Vivint alarm system starting at $29.99 per month for monitoring, with no activation fee or equipment fee. This basic monitoring also requires the purchase of a Starter Kit, which includes one touchscreen hub, two door/window sensors, one motion sensor, and $100 in sensors.
Although this is a relatively low monthly monitoring fee, expanding to home automation products and adding cameras will increase this monthly service cost and require you to either pay upfront for or finance the product cost. Like some other security providers, Vivint does not list its specific pricing for its home security system on its website, so you will need to call Vivint's customer service reps to gather all pricing information.

Vivint Frequently Asked Questions
What comes as standard equipment in Vivint home security packages?
Vivint provides customized systems based on each customer’s unique needs, so it’s difficult to define standard equipment. That said, there is a Starter Kit that most customers begin with as a solid baseline.
Typically, the Starter Kit will include the touchscreen Vivint Smart Hub control panel, a Vivint yard sign and light, two door/window sensors, a motion sensor, and $100 worth of customizable equipment. Most customers also opt for at least one or two security cameras and a few additional pieces of equipment.
What is Vivint’s cancellation policy?
In most cases, a customer can cancel within their right of rescission (three days) without any penalty. After that, the customer is required to pay the remaining balance of the service and equipment for the life of the agreement.
Does Vivint require an installation or activation fee?
Vivint typically charges a $49 install fee, which is the least expensive professional installation fee in the industry. It does not charge an activation fee.
Does Vivint run a credit check?
Vivint will run a credit check if the customer intends to finance the equipment. If the customer pays upfront for the equipment, no credit check is needed.
How much does Vivint professional monitoring cost?
Vivint’s monthly monitoring service starts at $29.99 per month.
Do you own your Vivint home security equipment?
Once a customer pays off their equipment, they own it. The vast majority of customers finance the equipment over 60 months.
What devices can you use to access your Vivint cameras?
Customers can access their Vivint camera feeds through the Vivint Smart Home app which is compatible with most smartphones and tablets. It is not compatible with Kindle tablets or older flip phones.
Poor service equipment has not work since I signed up
Julie & Stacy Dominy
The sales team was great, install and hardware BUT we constantly go out of service and have to reboot all devices. We constantly get messages saying our bill not paid and call only to be told it is fine. I would say very unreliable and we are stuck with this since we are paying for hardware. Go another direction!!!!!
We have enjoyed having all the features and easy to use!
Cant get follow up on any conversation have nso Knowledge of Police Fire if they would be notified or do we have to call if there is a problem
Horrible. I'm being charged for services I'm not receiving. The cameras will not adhere to the wall.
The only issue I have is that the monthly rate is a little more than anticipated& unfortunately the service provider I came from now has better rates and services
No one ever came back to fix my front door lock or garage opener but I'm paying for it all so that sucks
It's OK. Need to offer additional services like the keypad should be able to have a code, customers should have the option to request an aditional key pad. I cannot hear my door bell when upstairs and my mobile phone does ring to let me know someone is at the door. Only the keypaid downstairs indicates and I'm not able to see who's at the door until a quick flash on the phone if I'm near it.
Worst ever starting with the Salesman that told us many many lies. Then lied again to referrals that I gave him (big mistake) then the easy cancellation he said they had was the biggest lie of all Took me hours of being on hold and probably at least 10 different times calling to finally get a nice representative that let me cancel my service. The worst experience I ever had I don't recommend them to nobody
Very good. As soon as alarm goes off I receive an email. Let's me know that they are on top of things
Only because of my seling Agent, it has been very good. He has continued to help months later if I had a question, problem, etc.
Overall okay. Sometimes the alarm alert when coming through the garage.
Response is not by service people . Please don't make long term agreement
Has worked well most of the time, although occasionally it doesn't record a visitor, or is slow to start recording.
I think vivint is a greta company. The start up is kinda of expensive since you have to use a second party for your equipment but other than that great company. Also linking new things to your vivint system such as camera or door locks is impossible. I think I have to call and pay to do it like I did my garage door opener. Which if I already own the equipment why should I pay for linking my equipment if you a compatible.
Great system but the app crashes a good deal
I have to continuously reset the system, my low battery keeps popping up, when things are hardwired.
I love the doorbell camera but it seems as if it has a delay. People will be knocking at my door before it notify me.
Easy to use. Increases my sense of safety.
The security system is great, set up and account administration not so good
Vivant has responded to all of my requests in a timely manner. All of their sales people, telephone supply and service technicians are very professional snd I have high regard for all of them. The biggest issue with the company that I have had is they try to trouble shoot over the phone too often and too much. I'm not sure it's due to Covid19 and pandemic but I have called needing service and I have to beg and plead to have a service person sent to my home. They try to get the customer to fix things that truly require a professional who understands security installation. Once I had to take a picture of a door jamb and the company thought they were helping by sending me the part- which was the wrong part anyway and had to send a service technician anyway. It's a waste of time!! On the positive side, I love the phone app and ability to open snd close my garage snd front door remotely! I think the service technicians are friendly, trained well, neat and tidy and very helpful!!!
Great excellent customer, excellent video recording, and I am more than happy with my experience
all equipment has worked properly. Customer service friendly
The security and ease of operation. The system is easy to understand. If anything has to be changed it can be done within minutes.
I've had the best experience with Vivent from the start with the sales team to the install team. Everyone is very professional. When I was shopping for a security system there wasn't anything as good as what Vivent offered.
Best system I have ever used ver user friendly and I feel very secure in knowing who is at my door or yard before I have to open the door
Camera goes Out at night, looks distorted. Don't always get notifications when someone drops a package
Excellent reliable service. I feel very secure.
My camera don't work as good as it should I love my system that just needs to be worked on
My experience could have been better in regards to my switch from one company to the next. I didn't receive a reimbursement
I have been disappointed with the service Vivint has provided my mother. I went on and on how good vivint was and i felt you gave my mom a raw deal with your service.
Vivint is one trustworthy system!!! However, the only thing I'm concerned about is the that it no longer report to my credit bureaus but it was based off my credit to get started

I would like for Vivint to do an independent review of its initial customer service call in lines. As a consumer I find it most prevalent that in calling into large company one speak or shall I say it an automated phone answering service. This service often when a caller is seeking to speak with a Person younare given another phone number or link sent to you to go to. Then there you dealing again with AI. You spend so much time being routed to everywhere but what you requested through the initial call. I believe if calls are recieved by a Person the caller would spend less time on a call to resolve the caller's problem. Thank you. I would like tonhear by about this issue that is near to my heart as I consider myself a true customer service oriented observer in all aspects of dealing with call backs to all companies.
Very satisfied with product. The camera pictures üì∑ are very clear
My sensors went off and they were able to reset from there end I would recommend this company its the best always there to answer and take on any task thanks vivid would 'nt trade you for no one
it hasnt been the greatest. I was told that when i paid in full for my equipment i wouldnt be charged until i install and use my service. I have been dealing with a lot of personal changes at home and have not had time to install the system that I paid for in full.. so i am not expecting to get charged.. but they continue to try to charge me and tell me that they are giving me a grace period.. you cant give me something that was already stated. so i am not sure how i feel about Vivint.
Honestly, I feel like I am throwing my money away. We only activated vivnt so we could have a doorbell camera, and that did not get installed; it's sitting on our counter. What's the point, really?
The salesman misrepresented some of the benefits, the camera has some distortion, but mostly, the thermostat is erratic. We have the heat set to 71-71, but it will not produce heat, dropping down to the low sixties, while blowing cold air. On two occasions in the summer, it blew out hot air, raising the internal temperature to 90!

the most disappointing. Would not recognize my referals. Not a very friendly costumer service
Good. The technician came out placed Blue cloths over his shoes whenever inside and got all my cameras and security system installed and was on his way. Amazing customer service, my sign broke due to high winds I placed a call for a replacement I was told it would ship out on the same day.
Happy with the service and the products with Vivint
They only value new customers. Loyalty is not appreciated. I've had two homes with Vivint and referred multiple friends including the owners of our previous home. However, when my panel was outdated snd I wanted to add a product I had to pay full price for both items, when nee customers received a discount. Take care of your recurring customers first!
great system is easy to use but mobile app not very secure anyone that can use ur phone can disarm the system
Not good it keeps going out but I still pay the same
The young men were very knowledgeable and competent. They answered our questions and offered suggestions for what would work best for us.
I the beginning, my app worked differently. Also, my front door lock doesn't automatically lock.lock sometimes automatically and someti.es i
It is very difficult to communicate with your customer service. I cannot understand them with their heavy foreign accents. They have difficulty grasping the nature of my concerns. I would prefer a service provider with USA based representatives.
Lousy ! Customer service is a joke ! On phone for 25 - 45 minutes for them to pickup. No system in place for return call and not wait on line.
Nothing but great. Alarm goes off and you get a call very quickly.
reponse to door opening slow, not all my window on system and price seams to fluctuate i the camera outside, inside could get some modification.
