Vivint offers a comprehensive smart home solution, including a control panel hub, security cameras, home automation devices, a connected car device, and security and safety sensors. Customers can also finance their products to get a complete smart home at the start without paying for everything upfront. Here's a detailed list of Vivint's offered products:
The home security company offers security systems that are professionally installed by a Vivint smart home pro. This means that your sales rep will schedule a smart home pro to come to your home, consult with you on what your home might need, and help you determine where all the products should go. The technician connects your entire system for you and then shows you how to use it before leaving.
Vivint includes 24/7 professional monitoring by security certified agents. If homeowners want peace of mind that their houses will be protected at all times, monitoring is an important part of proper home security.
24/7 monitoring means that your alarm will send a signal to a professional monitoring center when a sensor detects a break-in, smoke, or carbon monoxide. The monitoring center will then contact you through the system's cellular two-way communication to verify whether the alarm is an actual emergency or a false alarm.
All Vivint equipment is under a lifetime warranty, while installation comes with a 120-day warranty. After 120 days, service calls are $49.
A useful offering from Vivint is its compatibility with the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, which allows homeowners access to voice-controlled control features. Vivint is also compatible with other popular technology, including the Nest Learning Thermostat, Nest Thermostat E, Philips Hue lightbulbs, and Z-Wave Alliance certified products.
Compatibility with these smart home products is especially helpful for improving energy efficiency in your home.
Customers have the option of a zero-percent interest loan for 42 or 60 months, so they can get a complete Vivint security system without having to pay for everything upfront (as with DIY systems). The accompanying service contract matches the term of the loan so that customers have service while they are paying off the products. Once a customer pays off their equipment loan, they have the ability to go to a month-to-month service subscription.
The Vivint Smart Home app is available in the app stores for both iPhone and Android devices, and you can use it to manage and control your Vivint system from anywhere. Customers can also use the Vivint app to set up rules for certain events to happen automatically when triggered by other products or at specific times during the day. For example, you can have your doors automatically lock every night at 10:00 PM or have your indoor camera record a clip whenever the front door is opened.
Vivint has an outdoor camera called the Vivint Outdoor Camera Pro. The camera includes two-way talk, hybrid wired Wi-Fi connection, a customizable surveillance zone, a 4K sensor with 1080p quality with HD zoom, a wide-angle lens with a 140-degree view, and night vision. The camera even includes what Vivint calls Smart Sentry™, which is an LED ring light on the camera that lights up and plays an alert sound to let intruders know they've been spotted.
When the camera detects motion and a person is in the camera's view for too long, that's when Smart Sentry™ is triggered. You can customize notifications so that the camera will notify you when any person approaches. If you want notifications to be more specific, you can set the alert to only notify you when someone may be loitering. The camera also automatically records 20-second auto recordings whenever something triggers the camera's motion detectors.
By using the Vivint Smart Home app, you can also access live feed of your camera at any time as well as past footage that is stored in your Vivint Smart Drive. The drive saves continuous footage for up to 30 days.
If you don't want to install the camera(s) yourself, the alarm company offers professional installation and will synch your Wi-Fi, your outdoor camera(s), and your Vivint Smart Home products together, so all of your devices are connected.
Vivint charges customers a $99 move fee if you transfer services to a new residence within the first year of a signed contract. Many home security companies offer moving services completely free of charge.
Vivint requires 42- or 60-month contracts for its security services if you choose to finance your products. Although contracts are common within the home security industry, typically they only last up to 36 months.
The upside to a long contract is Vivint gives you the choice of a zero-percent interest loan for the length of the contract, which may make the long-term contract worth it for some customers.
Customers can get a Vivint alarm system starting at $29.99 per month for monitoring, with no activation fee or equipment fee. This basic monitoring also requires the purchase of a Starter Kit, which includes one touchscreen hub, two door/window sensors, one motion sensor, and $100 in sensors.
Although this is a relatively low monthly monitoring fee, expanding to home automation products and adding cameras will increase this monthly service cost and require you to either pay upfront for or finance the product cost. Like some other security providers, Vivint does not list its specific pricing for its home security system on its website, so you will need to call Vivint's customer service reps to gather all pricing information.

Vivint Frequently Asked Questions
What comes as standard equipment in Vivint home security packages?
Vivint provides customized systems based on each customer’s unique needs, so it’s difficult to define standard equipment. That said, there is a Starter Kit that most customers begin with as a solid baseline.
Typically, the Starter Kit will include the touchscreen Vivint Smart Hub control panel, a Vivint yard sign and light, two door/window sensors, a motion sensor, and $100 worth of customizable equipment. Most customers also opt for at least one or two security cameras and a few additional pieces of equipment.
What is Vivint’s cancellation policy?
In most cases, a customer can cancel within their right of rescission (three days) without any penalty. After that, the customer is required to pay the remaining balance of the service and equipment for the life of the agreement.
Does Vivint require an installation or activation fee?
Vivint typically charges a $49 install fee, which is the least expensive professional installation fee in the industry. It does not charge an activation fee.
Does Vivint run a credit check?
Vivint will run a credit check if the customer intends to finance the equipment. If the customer pays upfront for the equipment, no credit check is needed.
How much does Vivint professional monitoring cost?
Vivint’s monthly monitoring service starts at $29.99 per month.
Do you own your Vivint home security equipment?
Once a customer pays off their equipment, they own it. The vast majority of customers finance the equipment over 60 months.
What devices can you use to access your Vivint cameras?
Customers can access their Vivint camera feeds through the Vivint Smart Home app which is compatible with most smartphones and tablets. It is not compatible with Kindle tablets or older flip phones.
I really enjoy using Vivint. I like how everything is streamlined through the app. Nothing is perfect but overall for the most part things are smooth. The only issue is have is with my doorbell camera and Vivint doesn't know how to fix it. The company just needs to make sure their app runs smooth and fix bugs and major issues with their products especially their doorbell camera. I'm considering swapping mine out for another brand because of the plethora amount of issues I have with that product.
It's been great. The camera is clear with great sound. No problems. Would like to add more services.

Thank you for your feedback, Dwight! We are so glad to hear about your experience with Vivint and how you're loving your system.
It's ok. Not what I hope fir it to be. Cameras aren't real clear when zooming. Freezes alot
I like it for the most part but I have issues with my equipment frequently
Ok, but not that impressed with the final product. Batteries always need changing. Internet always losing connection to panel,
It's been great so far easy to use and very convenient as well.
Don't really need it. My wifi works fine but the smart hub always goes off line
Not good , I actually want to leave service but they told me I couldn't do it if someone could help me . I don't need this service and it's costing me money
It has been good. All questions that i have had has been answered. I like this system.

Thank you for your feedback, M! We are so glad to hear about your experience with Vivint and how you're loving your system.
Ok. My main issue is that on my Back of siding glass doors the small white piece either has slow down or fell off and I have to tape it to my door otherwise I can't set my security alarm I got told that if someone comes out and fix it I wouldn't get charged and just to go buy glue or tape it to the door
Mostly positive, but a couple snags. Was promised a $250 visa gift card if I switched from my doorbell camera to theirs, been almost a year with countless calls and just get the run around. Would have just kept mine for what theirs is costing me.
It's ok. Often the doors don't sensor. Sometimes app doesn't work. Overall it's ok.
Good customer services and quality of service. More discounts on equipment will be good.

Thank you for your feedback, Mosope! We are so glad to hear about your experience with Vivint and how you're loving your system.
Pretty Good, I have had some messages from the system that the garage is not talking to the main base. I am not sure why this has happened. The system was just put in August.
They respond promptly to calls every time.
I have enjoyed this service very much. I have found the service to mostly been helpful

The salesman told us that we would get everything he told us, in writing. Despite many attempts we have not received that information. We feel like we have been lied to. If we had known that this would happen we never would have bought the system.
ok...not great. Always have issues with connection and the cameras and doorbell have connectivity problems whenever i connect. If someone is at the door and rings the door bell it takes so takes too long to connect and by the time the app connects to the doorbell the person is gone. I have business class internet (210mbs down and 15mps up) so I know that the issue is not with my internet connection.
I can never hear my doorbell ring and my sensors doesn't work tech did not help having a bad experience. The only good thing is I do not have to charge my doorbell for it to work. Reps are pleasant when they want you to sign up and take your money but when you need help it's not very beneficial.
Been over 6 months and have not received my buyout. I'm still paying the other company
I am satisfied with my Vivint experience so far. The equipment and the app work very well together.
As a business, using Vivint for our service has been nothing short of a struggle. We will be on the phone with them for hours on end, getting passed back and forth between departments and never reaching a resolution. We have constantly communicated that we are a business and have multiple properties, but every time we talk to them, no one seems to have any idea how to help us with our problems. I know that your main client is the single homeowner, but you would think there would be some kind of options for businesses who want to use Vivint systems. We waste a ridiculous amount of time every time we call and it has helped us make a decision to go with a different security solution in all 8 of our properties.

Fair. The technician who installed the system left a big hole in my wall without mentioning it or getting my permission. Also, there was a thunderstorm which knocked my garage connection and customer service was not helpful in resolving it so it's been unplugged for several months just to stop the beeping and flashing light, Disappointed in my salesman who did not return ANY of my calls. Would not refer Vivint to anyone at this point.
Install is good. However app is poor and cost too much for what we use
A great one and the equipment is affordable

Thank you for your feedback, Crystal! We are so glad to hear about your experience with Vivint and how you're loving your system.
Feel secured with Vivint. A little pricey but I think the expense is worth it. Quick response to alarm. Sales people need to let customers know that they have to register their alarm system with police dept
It has been good I am pleased with all so far the system works well and very reliable I also like the many options that I have to choose from and to upgrade to if I choose to do so

Great system for my peace of mind. I like being able to talk to people who are at the door
Very professional. The crew installed the equipment in a timely manner. They ensured before they left I understood how to use the equipment.
It has not been good. The app hardly connects and I want to go back to ADT But I'm locked in a God awful contract I can't get out of
Vivint is like no other when it comes to security. But the price of equipment is a little pricey. After investing a lot in equipment within a year everything gets out date. Work on good quality products not quantity of how much money you can make. The rest of the world is doing the same but to be a great company are you going to be like the rest of the world losing business during covid times. I have left the company for this very reason once. It's very frustrating. Value your loyal and faithful customers. Rather then new customers only. Because we can all cancel at a moments notice.
Not very good, equipment doesn't work correct. I am being over charged and can't get it straightened out. They have no respect for my time
Average, we constantly cant get visual on our phones or it takes too long to load when the doorbell is rang.
Dr Angela Hackworth-Wilson
I can't get anyone on the phone, because I felt the rep. who came out was not offering me the best package. Dissatisifed with their products and services.
Ever since i signed up , service has been the worst . Cameras turn off out of no where . I have to be rebooting system all the time.
Great! We had a situation where the interior motion detector wasn't working and they hadn't installed door alarms etc. They sent someone out and he reprogramed and installed the door alarms within minutes at no cost.

Thank you for your feedback, Tina! We are so glad to hear about your experience with Vivint and how you're loving your system.
This is the WORST company we have ever dealth with. These people can NOT be trusted!!! They are scammers and pray on people that do not understand the type of services they are previding. We are in the process of hiring a lawyer to get out of this mess.
Vivant has been an ok service. I have 3 cameras and they go offline often and do not work! Very frustrating that I pay this amount of money for a system that does not work half the time.
Been having problems with the camera being accurate and loading the videos from previous alerts
I have some concerns, like since the lady update, I can no longer delete footage as a group. Another concern is that I cannot answer the door bell on my phone in real time. On the control panel, if I attempt to view the camera to see who's ringing the bell, there's always a lag before the screen comes on
Good. A bit of a mix up with some documents that almost cost us 800.00 but I'm glad I saved the emails
We have a lot of trouble connecting and we need help with some issues to connect.
Good- only issue is it picks up everything and continues to say that someone rang our doorbell when they didnt.
They have had good responce to questions and customer service has been excellent.
I HATE Vivint. I received a "FREE" doorbell. I did not need it so I cancelled the service within 30 days, since I am over 65 years old. They still have not cancelled my monthly payments. I DO NOT nor have I EVER used the service, other than hearing my doorbell ring. There is not anything hooked up in my house. use the service
Disappointing to say the least. When I purchased the Vivint system I had high hopes. I bought the security portion, Doorbell camera two thermostats (I have a dual system), door lock, and an interior camera. When COVID-19 hit and I needed to suspend my service to save money I quickly found out that the whole system is 100% usless since I don't pay them the full monthly fee. I explained my situation and was told there is nothing that can be done. Thermostats wouldn't work, camera, doorbell, nothing worked. So unless you want to be locked into FOREVER monthly fees, beware!
A lot of improvement could be made to the interface not only on the wall mounted screen but the app too. Set durations for recordings so users can manually adjust, more options on being able to customize notification alerts. Say you only want alerts from certain doors or cameras but not all. Also connectivity on cell data could be improved drastically as well plenty of times I have low connection and when I arm the house my app says its good to go but when I get home it was never armed.
I called for assistance with saving a clip. The woman I spoke with couldn't help me and was totally worthless. I left a review on the phone call. Someone reached out to me and I advised they could contact me via email. That was the last I heard. So disappointed.
Experience is good when the equipment decides to work, the cameras loose and regain connection very often even with 4 wifi bridges. Also the technicians seem to be drill happy and could run wires in a cleaner and professional manner.

Several problems. Alarm going off when it wasn't set. Outside cameras doesn't work. Need someone to come to residence and no one comes.
