For the most part our security system and cameras have worked great. We ran into trouble when our cameras stopped working for no apparent reason. I spoke to Malik on the phone to ask for assistance but I kept hearing him reiterate the cost of having a technician come out to fix the problem. Of course, I’m paying nicely for the system to work in the first place. He started talking in “tech” language, telling me to locate a black ADT Netgear tower. We don’t have one and he was made aware of this very clearly in the beginning. After 20 minutes of a wild goose chase trying to locate the necessary ADT device in my home per his insistence (one would think the equipment and location would be documented by ADT), he’s made aware that I can only find a small white device plugged into an outlet. I eventually fixed the problem but I was left feeling frustrated for receiving inaccurate information and unhelpful “assistance” from this ADT employee. A few times during the call I waited while there was dead silence for minutes on his end and had to ask if he was still there on the line. I’ll give them one more chance.

I had a tech come to my house to install the system. ADT is the most known alarm system other than Brinks. We went over the paperwork and what I was going to get. Sensors on doors, windows and motion inside. No cameras. The offer, 200 gift card, which I was going to receive in the mail. Only got 100. The system itself is not bad. It does what it's supposed to. You can set the alarm and override any opened windows. The fobs are small and I attached one to my keys. Put it in my pocket only to have the sheriff show up 1 hour later. Apparently I was pressing the duress button for over an hour. Fast forward to 3 years later. My contract is up and so is my monthly bill. Used to pay 39.99, now 50. That's right, with no cameras. I called customer care to see what I can get upgraded for free. Nothing, piss off. Guy tried but he did not know what free was. Kept tacking on more things like cameras for another 20 beans. Honestly, all I wanted was an upgrade on my keypad. He contacted my local tech and he even tried to upsell some stuff. The tech told me he would call me back with a quote. FREE YOU DINGBAT, I SAID FREE! He never did. Before you decide on what alarm system you want, pay close attention to the reviews. Look at what exactly people are complaining about. To give them a one star because their rates went up AFTER their contract expired is stupid.

I have been a customer with ADT since 2006, while still under Brinks. Last year we tried to upgrade to a better system and call the customer service. We were offered the new ADT Pulse that included a camera system that records happening all day long. I explained to the person taking the call that I needed something that would record, because a neighbor’s dog had been coming over to my front lawn and relieving itself. The sales representative then put my mind at rest by telling me I had come to the right place. Last October, the upgrade started with five cameras installed (three inside and two outside). I was told that my problems were solved. Two months after the outside cameras were installed, I came home from work and found a pile of “you know what” at the public light, in front of my residence. I immediately went to log onto ADTPulse to view the “recorded” video for the past 24 hours. The video only came in clips so I checked all clip till I had covered the past 24 hours with NO luck! Two days later and another similar (BIG) pile of dog waste was deposited around the same pole to the street night light. I went back to the video clips but nothing was conclusive. I wasn’t too upset because that wasn’t my property (even though it was in front of my house) but on the city’s property. Approximately one week later, as I returned from work, there laid on MY front lawn another (BIG) dog waste! I was sure that this time I would be able to view the video and find out whose dog, or which dog owner was allowing its dog to do this to my property. To cut a long story short, as I would find out later, the video system only records (via motion activation) for 30 seconds and follows with a two minute pause in which nothing else records! So when someone approaches the camera, it starts recording for 30 seconds and stops. Nothing is recorded until two minutes later! And that explained why I never see anything actually happening in front of my house. I called ADT technicians the next day and they told me that is how the system is set up. In other words, tough sh*t! I’m currently screening other companies to see who can offer a system that records around the clock. I strange man recently approached my daughter on my front door step (and a good thing nothing else happened) but all that was recorded was him at my doorsteps and my daughter standing to the side confused as to what the man wanted there! Rated a 2 1/2 star!

We used ADT for 10+ years. I had no complaints about the monitoring. However, in my opinion, the $99 upfront cost is misleading. It includes very little and by the time you have what you actually need, the cost is hundreds. As our system aged, it began to have random failures, including going off for no apparent reason in the middle of the night. I finally quit setting it when my husband was out of town. The idea of it shrieking "Intruder Alert" at 2:00 am was more frightening than the potential for an actual intruder. When we looked into replacing it with newer equipment, the cost was well over $1500.00 with no consideration for our years as a customer.

ADT sent me a promo for old customers that left. They made some discounts and an installer installed $2700 worth of equipment. I negotiated some discounts and was promised an additional $300 gift card in 20 days. 10 weeks later no $300 as promised. I put in a dispute on their equipment charges of $300. Defenders the rep for ADT starts calling me and harassing me for $300. I told them at least 10 times that you owe me $300 . Now the cards have arrived , my credit card company has released the $300. they still call and say I have not paid over the phone. I am not paying on the phone because my credit card company is sending the $. Expediously the rep from Defenders says ok so you are not paying and this will to on your credit rating and we will turn over to a collection agency. GEEZ 2. Also my monthly bill is wrong- not per the contract + USAA provided a $5 / month discount. When I call ADT they refer me back to Defenders . Defenders acts like they do not get the wrong they are doing me.

I have had ADT service for several (10-15) years. My experience is as follows: PRO: 1. Reliable monitoring service 2. Good APP 3. Friendly personnel on phone service 4. Service (Tech) on site personnel are savy and professional CON: 1. Must pay for service calls 2. Monthly service charges continue to escalate. I started at $39/month and charges are now $52/month. Thinking of switching vendors

Service did not work as intended since they use AT&T as their carrier and AT&T did not work. They spent 8 hours at my house only to tell me that. They had to come back to try with an additional antenna and that was to no avail. I had the service removed but canceling was a hassle and I initially still did not get my money back. A lot of upselling. Maybe they're a good company with an established dominance in the industry, so just be sure to confirm that AT&T will work well in your house and that you're fully aware of all your upfront costs and monthly bills.

I have been a customer of ADT for over 15yrs now. I upgrade my system 3 yrs ago to the adt pulse system. I was shocked to learn that there is a VERY BIG FLAW in the system. The cameras are set to record only 30 seconds of action. Then they need 3-5 mins to reset before they can record again. When I called adt their answer to me was to upgrade again to a wired system. The cost would be $300 to show up (install) and $450 per camera. Well once my contract is up I'll find another company to monitor my house.

Purchased a home that had ADT system already installed. Called to activate. Salesman came out and sold us 1500.00 of equipment. Have had 9 fault alarms in 11 months. Customer service has been helpful but now the want to reinstall original system . All old equipment was tossed. Now I am going to have to fight to get my 1500.00 back. Think carefully and do not let their non ADT salespeople walk through your door.

Buyer beware the fees and equipment are expensive. the features are really cool, but i dont know yet if its worth it......got set up for service today. the 19.95 offer only applies IF you have a landline ... IF you dont have a landline then its $55 a month. Equipment is stupid expensive. To cover 10 windows and 3 doors, and a smoke detector, the total was $1300.

purchased package on internet from Defenders, Inc. they advertised a $100.00 gift certificate. I even have a post card advertising gift card. They now say nothing promised. That is definitely false advertising. They could not install the camera. Did not know how to do it. NOT HAPPY WITH THE COMPANY!!

WE'VE BEEN A CUSTOMER SINCE 2009. NO PROBLEMS WITH THEM VERY SATISFIED. DIDN'T KNOW WHEN WE UPGRADED TO PULSE LAST YEAR --THAT ALSO ADDED A 3 YR CONTRACT. RECENTLY EXPERIENCED DAMAGE TO HOME POSING SAFETY ISSUE- LEAVING TOWN-MOVING IN WITH FAMILY- UNABLE TO TRANSFER SERVICE--ADT MAKING US PAY $700 CANCELLATION FEE. ADT NOT WILLING TO CONSIDER YEARS OF SERVICE AND THE FACT THAT WE'VE BEEN SATISFIED FAITHFUL CUSTOMERS. WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THEM AGAIN.

First they gave me an estimate of how much I would pay per month, then they said it was a mistake and that I should pay about 10% more. I accepted and they gave me a new contract. I called them about 3 times in a period of 6 years but their visits were always with charge to the client. I finally canceled the contract because I was not willing to pay when it was not my problem.

When I called to get a quote I was told by the resprenative that they will need my social security number. At that very moment, that was a turn off because I didn't even get a quote, but you want to do a hard pull !.

Overall experience is sub-par. Definitely would neither renew nor recommend. Pricing is high and they keep raising rates even within the fixed contract period by at least 5% year on year (yes it is in the fine print). Console is not very user friendly and cancellation needs 30 days advance notification (Not to speak of the lock-in contract of 36 months)

I've had them in the past, but I haven't decided to go with them yet because it's too expensive. There's other options out there that can do the same thing, and they're even better.

We've had our system for a couple of months now. Installer was top-notch. Took the time to explain things in detail. Called him back up last week to ask a question and he resolved my concern in less than a minute.

If the alarm panel is smashed upon break in during the 30 second delay,I'm told ADT will not get signal and theives will have free run of home
