The Good

  • Range of Services
  • Large Medical Provider Network
  • Easy Application Process
  • Authorized User Option
  • Promotional Financing Options
  • Account Management Tool
  • CareCredit Mobile App

Range of Services

The CareCredit credit card can be used as a payment option for out-of-pocket costs that aren't covered by medical insurance. CareCredit also provides special financing options that customers might not get with other cards, and helps patients pay for medical care that may exceed insurance coverage. The credit card can be used for a wide range of services:

  • Animal/pet card
  • Chiropractic
  • Cosmetic
  • Dentistry
  • Dermatology
  • Fitness
  • Hearing
  • Hospitals and surgical centers
  • Labs and diagnostics
  • Med equipment/supplies
  • Pharmacies/personal care
  • Primary care/clinics
  • Sleep
  • Spa
  • Specialists
  • Vision
  • Weight loss

Large Medical Provider Network

With a network of over 200,000 medical providers, patients have plenty of options to choose from when using their CareCredit credit card. This is very important, as members shouldn't feel limited to only a few options for their medical needs. CareCredit strives to have multiple network options for each customer so they can choose a provider best suited to their needs. Members can search for providers online with CareCredit's "Find a Doctor" tool - search by zip code, profession, or doctor name, gives members the options for their specific needs.

Easy Application Process

CareCredit makes applying for a card as simple as possible. Most people can feel very overwhelmed when it comes to healthcare financing. However, CareCredit helps with this stress. Simply apply online, and wait for credit approval. Once approved, you can begin using your CareCredit card immediately. CareCredit will then send you monthly statements, keeping you up to date on your transactions and account.

Authorized User Option

You can add an authorized user to your CareCredit account through through your online account or by calling the company's Customer Care Center.

Promotional Financing Options

CareCredit offers both short-term financing and long-term healthcare financing. A great benefit to using CareCredit for your healthcare financing needs is its promotional financing options, which give you more payment plan options to choose from.

If you choose to make your payment in full within 6, 12, 18, or 24 months, you can select a payment plan with 0 percent interest. Otherwise, you can pay 14.9 percent APR until paid in full (equal fixed monthly payments required).

Account Management Tool

On the CareCredit website, the management tool can be used to make payments, review your account, see transactions, and update personal information all online. The company will mail you, or email you, monthly statements, but members can also see their account at any time online.

In addition, CareCredit has a dedicated customer service number for cardholders and one for providers.

CareCredit Mobile App

Another resource CareCredit provides is the CareCredit Mobile App. Members can pay bills and view all necessary healthcare financing information from the palm of their hand.

The mobile app is currently available for both iOS and Android users.

The Bad

  • No Rate Ranges
  • Not Accepted by all Healthcare Providers

No Rate Ranges

CareCredit has set rates for certain purchase amounts. While this provides predictability, there is no option to lower your rate based on your credit score and payment responsibility. CareCredit's rates are as follows:

  • Purchases of $1,000 or more — 24 months offer with a 14.90% APR, 36 months offer with a 15.90% APR, or 48 months offer with a 16.90% APR
  • Purchases of $2,500 or more — 60 months offer with a 17.90% APR

If you don't pay off debt during the introductory, promotional period, you could get hit with higher interest rates.

Not Accepted by all Healthcare Providers

While CareCredit does have a large network, the CareCredit credit card is not accepted by all healthcare providers. Therefore, it is important to ensure that your medical providers accept CareCredit before applying.

The Bottom Line

CareCredit has a lot of experience in the healthcare lenders industry and has a lot of features that make patients' lives easier. CareCredit's simple application process and online portal makes it relatively easy for members to use. CareCredit works hard to make sure its customers can get the medical care they need as its medical credit card can be used for a broad range of services.

Potential members should be aware that CareCredit isn't a finance company and only offers the healthcare credit card to those seeking help with their medical bills. If you are looking for medical assistance with dental expenses, vision, veterinary care, purchase of hearing aids, or cosmetic surgeries, CareCredit is a reputable choice.

We use Care Credit in my business. It is a great way for our patients to help afford dental care. I appreciate the great customer service I receive each and every time I call in. They take great care of their consumers and give detailed information when patients apply and get approved. The best thing about CC is their provider website. I use this for everything. It's a great way to process payments and navigate information for their consumers, my patients. Thank you!

I don’t know what I would have done if I never found care credit! I was approved immediately which was great! They gave me the amount I needed and it’s been easy to use and make payments. They offer financial help for a lot of different things.

This company doesn't honor their agreements with the customer. They don't honor there special financing terms. The bank Care credit is through is awful to deal with.

Oh my goodness when I saw that Care Credit was one of the companies I could review, it took me back years ago to when I first opened an account with this company. My 12 year old daughter, who is now 41 needed braces, and there was no way we would have been able to afford them without using this line of credit. After paying the braces off, myself and husband used Care Credit for ourselves in health situations that accepted it. As early as two weeks ago, I found myself pulling the card out of my wallet again for an Endodontist appointment that charged quite a bit for a consultation. Care Credit is used more and more everywhere these days. I am glad so many places accept it and will continue to use it as I see it might be needed.

When one of our dogs required major surgery at our veterinarian, the bill was not inexpensive. Lucky for us the vet accepted CareCredit and we were able to pay off the debt over twelve months with no interest charges.

We have used care credit twice in the past for our animals in emergencies. The last time we had to put out beloved 16 year old family member to sleep. We were approved for more than we needed. Their customer service reps are amazing!! You don't have to wait for qualification and its easy to apply.

I open the care credit account back on 2017 when I was considering getting some dental work done. Approval was easy, considering that at the time I did not have a very high credit score. Interest was a little bit high however, I was very pleased with their service, as well as the ease of making payments. It could be more widely excepted, but I think that something that could come with time. Overall, very pleased.

CareCredit is a fabulous option if you're approved. The approval process was smooth, easy to complete and quick. CareCredit helped me get my daughter's braces without worrying about saving up for all of the expenses not covered by my dental insurance. If it weren't for CareCredit, my daughter would've had to wait for a couple of years to begin the process of making her smile even more beautiful.

Yes! My company indeed. However, very expensive. On the positive, the are easy to be approved for and the come in handy when there is a medical emergency where you have to copay or pay entirely. They evenly accomodate your pet's medical as well. Therefore, their service is worth tolerating the high interest rate.

This is a great resource for paying medical bills. It's not accepted everywhere, but most places I've tried has taken it.

I have used Care Credit for over a decade. They used to be a great card for vet bills. If you have a promo balance and a non-promotional balance, upon making a payment, they divide the payment between the 2 balances however they want to. So, I used to be able to call and have them reapply my payment wherever I wanted, promo or to non-promo. For years, this was no problem. Recently, this has become a nightmare. They can no longer take simple directions without messing my account up over and over! Within the past few weeks, I asked that a simple payment be applied to my non-promo balance and I've had to call back 5 or more times to get them to stop sending my money here and there. I have spoken to 2 managers who couldn't seem to grasp my simple request. One quite rudely kept cutting me off. The latest mistake they have made is adding my payment to my balance instead of reducing my balance. So now my balances are higher instead of lower. I'm still fighting this one. Their interest rates are very high. This card is only a good value if it is used for promotional purchases offering a 6 or longer month, zero interest payback. I am looking hard for another card so I can get rid of this one. I would give one star, but I gave 2 stars; the 2nd one is for the years of good service

Care Credit has helped us pay for both medical and dental bills several times. Each time, they offered much better payment options than were available through the individual providers or facilities. We don't use it often, but it is nice to know that it is there if we are hit with an unexpected medical/dental expense.

I was pressured to except the CareCredit account from Aspen Dental. They charged the account without my consent. I reported it as fraud. I got an email more than a month later saying I was responsible for the charges because I benefited. I have receipts for the payments where my insurance company paid for the only work I had completed. How can they not consider charging for work already paid for not to be fraud?

Care credit is fine if you are able to pay off your procedure within a year. After that they tack on crazy high interest rates! I would not recommend using them but rather trying to get a loan from other companies or your bank.

I had to get care credit for my puppy that originally got sick with Parvo, and then a few weeks later jumped off the couch and broke his leg. Snapped in half. Took him to the emergency vet who said the pup would require surgery, but would need to pay a $500 deposit, and the surgery estimate would be another $3,000+. It was either pay the vet and fix the dog, or put the dog to sleep. I couldn’t stand doing that to my kids, so I ended up getting the care credit credit card. This has been the worst mistake ever. The 6 month promotional balance ended on the $500 just yesterday and all of a sudden I look at my bill and there is a $91.31 interest charge added to it, which was up from $35.91 paid the previous month! I paid the required amount every month, but it seemed they applied most of the payment to the surgery bill and not the promotional amount of $500, because there was still $330.13 left on the promotion balance, and $2605.02 left on a $3672.34 initial purchase amount. Freaking scammers. I can’t wait to pay this crap off and get rid of them for good.

ZERO STARS! Worst Card EVER! ONLY use this card for my dogs vet bills. The last 2 times I've used it, the card was declined. The first time it was declined cause I owed $12 with available credit of $2,700. Call, the automated system, tells me all is good. Go to run it again. DECLINED! I call to speak to a rep. I had to pay the $12, bringing my balance to 0, to use the card. Today, 8/9 I am at the vets again, run the card. DECLINED! This time I have an outstanding balance of $7 due on 8/22..I call, they tell me I need to pay the $7 bringing my balance to 0..BUT can NOT use my card for the next 48 hours!!!!!! Are you kidding me?!? DONE DONE DONE! I will NEVER use this company/card again, NOR to I recommend this card! Horrible!

I had to use this once to pay for medical bills. It is based off of credit. However, as long as your credit is good, you will get enough money to pay your bills and help your loved one.

Worst credit card company. They kept lowering my credit limit each time i made a late payment (even after a single day) by half the value. This would ruin my credit score. They have high interest rates so it takes forever to pay off. Read All the reviews before signing up for care credit.
