run a MILE from this terrible company. Still waiting for payment nearly 3 months after EMERGENCY appendix surgery at a reputable hospital. They keep 'reviewing' for another 2 weeks and then asking for some new document or information. By now it is clear to me that it is a deliberate tactic to delay or avoid paying. It is impossible to talk to a decision maker or anyone employed to act like a human being. Meanwhile my credit card has a $15,000 debit on it. Only 1 star because zero is not accepted on this site.

They send out incorrect information by mail and email to customers. The website gives incorrect information. The customer service reps (when you can talk to one, it takes hours) have no clue. Basically, no one there has any idea about where to find something on the website, what is covered, what doctors are available, or anything else. It's like dealing with a foreign government.

I have Cigna Dental Insurance, and the plan I chose is a PPO. I have a cracked tooth which occurred at the beginning of January, 2022. My dentist submitted a claim in order to get this fixed. Here we are in March of 2022, and they still haven’t approved the service to be completed. When I call them, they use a bunch of dental insurance terminology that I don’t understand. Bottom line, I’m still waiting for my dental service to be approved. What a crappy company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cigna are WORSE than being uninsured. They cover NOTHING so when you give a provider your insurance information, you lose any possible discounts and usually end up paying TWICE AS MUCH as you would if you don't use your insurance. Their network only has providers with 0 availability. I've just given up on getting medical help since my employer shafted me with Cigna. They started off as a life insurance company, and as a health insurance company their business model is still profiting when their customers die.

Horrible Horrible Customer service. No matter what time I call, I remain waiting on the line for hours and no one respond. A recorded messages keep coming on that says "Your call is important to us; stay on the line and your call will be answered in te order received." No matter what time I call, I stay waiting for hours and they just do not answer... I finally hang up and I am unable to talk to any representative. This is the worst service I have ever experienced. This is why I decided to go ahead and share it with everybody.

15 days after requesting referrals, I am still waiting. I complaint but did not get any help. The nurse names Melissa W refuses to communicate. Today, 17 days after my request, I received a call from customer service, telling me that I was going to get my referrals. She also gave me lies to explain their tardiness in responding. Very poor management. I will no longer recommend Cigna. There is much better service with other insurances

I just found out Cignas' customer service just lied to me about my prescription. I ordered it near the first of the month along with another prescription. I received the other prescription Monday, 12/6/21. I called & asked why & they couldn't tell me anything and suggested I call the shipping company, the shipping company told me the shipping label was just created yesterday & they picked it up today. Every time I refill this one prescription I have a hard time with Cigna, it's like they don't want to mess with it.

As a physician, I highly recommend that you avoid Cigna. They decline most services ordered by us, then make the us spend hundreds of dollars of our time fighting to get a patients study or drug approved. They understand that most doctors won’t go through the trouble, since it is so costly to us and doesn’t affect us personally. It’s a huge scam.

Worst insurance ever. Gave me wrong coverage and people answering the phone didn’t know nothing they sent me to wrong facility that charged me for everything and Cigna didn’t cover anything. They sent me my card with wrong last name and when I called them they said I have to resubmit my paperwork like I’m getting new insurance, which took over an hour of question and at the end the representative said oh sorry we can’t do anything because this will make you as new prescriber and you have to pay minimum.

They have asked my drs for FAX number which they don't have access (it is 2021! ) I have 12 weeks of short term disability. I am at the week 8 right now and not have received a penny or any progress report for claim manager. I wish I have not wasted my money paying for this insurance in the first place.

The worst. They installed a system that protects them from any accountability over their wrong decisions and doesn't let you (or anybody else) to reach people who are really responsible for the misery they cause. Certainly, they never respond any complaints nor do anything to fix their faults. It would be great to pull them into a class action for all the denials and harm they do to the cancer patients.

I am perfectly well managed by my doctor, but need a specific procedure twice per year on my spine. Despite historical evidence this is successful, they require two painful procedure prior to Auth, Insist it has to be Many weeks apart and then they don't get back with the staff. You could have pre approval sitting there for over a month that they won't bother with so despite everything, they are waiting until I am an invalid. Hateful, spiteful company.

Worst health insurance I've ever had. It's probably easier/cheaper to be uninsured. The initial set up was confusing & frustrating, they send you a long email list with providers in network where it's the same repeating numbers or random nonsense(one of the phone numbers was for a emergency room social worker?? Another one was just the busy tone, another one I got the "subscriber not in service" message). It's been 2 months & I'm out 500 (so far) & I'm basically where I was when I started. Customer service is nice but not helpful.

Denied my boyfriend's diagnosis procedure to determine if he needs back surgery since he has been in pain for 3 years. Then they denied the appeal after he met all the requirements they specified he needed. Now he was on hold with member services for 6+ hours, after every 2 hours the phone would automatically hang up. Available 24/7 is a flat out lie. He only has this month left of coverage since he turns 26 and they are preventing him from getting any further treatment because they are about to drop him. What a sick, corrupt company!

Terrible business practices! My daughter has been sick for a year and they have denied her treatment over and over again. She has seen numerous specialist who all agree on her treatment path which would cure her. Instead the insurance company denies every claim while my daughter lives in misery everyday of her life. A quick google search will show that Cigna revenue for 2019 was $153.6 billion! How are they making so much money you may wonder. Well I can tell you they are getting rich off of the pain and suffering of others. I hope karma catches up with them in my lifetime.

Then policy changes never occur. 60 days and no changes 8 phone call, 2 communications in person, no direct call back. ALL WITH THE THREAT OF COVERAGE CANCELLATION LOOMING WHILE THEY ARE NOT EFFECTIVE. NEVER EVER EVER RECOMMENDING AND ALWAYS WILL SHARE THIS OPINION.

Cigna is a predatory company. Some of their provider networks are so narrow they should be illegal. For example, there is a hospital 10 minutes from my house, but it is not in-network so now I have a $1,200 out-of-network bill because my infant child was choking. The closest in-network hospital is 30 minutes further. Also, their customer service representatives are not well trained and - either purposefully or inadvertently - communicate false information. This has led to avoidable out-of-network costs.

Thier respsones, "sorry" - now I am stuck becasue open enrollment is closed. The biggest pev is the promise that a manager would call me within 48 hours for dicuss this a call was never made!!

Was badly injured, visited a doctor who said I needed an MRI and Cigna refused to cover my MRI. Although it was a referral from an in network doctor who urged me to get a MRI, Cigna said that I couldn't prove that I was injured and that getting a note in writing from the doctor was insufficient. I find it disgusting that the CEO can make an income of nearly 50 million annually while paying customers get mistreated. Do not support Cigna and let the free market demand better service.

We switched from United Health care to Cigna this year. It was a big mistake from cigna medical to cigna dental the customer service is the worst in the industry and we found it out the hard way. It's unbelievable how we've gotten so many employee complaints about Cigna customer service. We're actually going to have to switch back to United healthcare which is going to cost our company more but have to deal with less irate emoyees. Companies and customers beware Cigna dental or health is a big mistake.

The associates at Cigna are polite and helpfu, but the insurance denied several of my claims during a hip replacement. One denial was an ice machine. Cigna would not pay because it is deemed experimental or not a proven treatment. Many other insurances paid for this item because they recognize that ice is an effective treatment for swelling. You may want to read other reviews if you have options in choosing your healthcare.

Cigna discontinued a medication that I have been taking for 2 years because they have eliminated coverage for this class of medication. I'm a moderately healthy person who goes to the doctor once a year for my annual check up, and I take two medications daily - one of which they just eliminated. I hope they are ashamed that they are playing roulette with people's health. I would sooner cancel this racket you claim to be insurance and pay out of my own pocket rather (and any penalties for doing so) than give you crooks one cent. What gives them the right to trump my doctor? Disgusting.

horrible. I used to be a Cigna member through the company I was with and had no problems. I tried to help my S/O join as well. We had to fill out the information for them to call to give us a rate. So they call and tell us it’s 200 a month. Me and my s/o wanted to talk about it first and the guy on the other line was saying how we wasted his time and not to fill out forms if we are not looking to apply and was completely rude. Very unprofessional

Through it all I've managed to graduate from college (this month) but will not be able to even hold down a job now because this procedure was denied. I'm hiring a lawyer and looking into all legal option!

We have had Cigna for a decade. Out of pocket has doubled and the process to get out of network provider costs covered has become cumbersome. They have outsourced customer service for some customers. This was particularly evident when my husband's company dropped Cigna due to a rate hike and our account was handled very poorly in the last 30 days of our coverage. The pharmacy even sent out an expensive prescription and charged my credit card after we were no longer customers were no longer customers.

I wish there was a zero star rating. WORST possible insurance available. Negligent, malicious, heartless, worthless. They should be investigated and audited by each State and Federal government for predatory practices and their proven deny / delay tactics. Have had excellent experience with Aetna, State Farm, CHUBB, Minnesota Life, and CUNA. Cigna is a disaster and hides behind ERISA protection that was supposed to protect consumers. Instead Cigna gets to act as judge, jury, and executioner.

I would rather deal with the cable company. Cigna has consistently denied and/or denied valid claims for healthcare strongly recommended by multiple healthcare professionals. We have waited months for claims to be processed and are never given clear guidance why some claims are paid and others denied. I have never dealt with a worse "service provider", particularly one that had literally life and death power over the lives of others.

Cigna's Health Information Line where you speak with a nurse about a health issue is a waste of time. The "nurse" read through a list of questions (repeating some 2 or 3 times) and then said we needed evaluation by a pediatrician. She was clearly reading from a prompt the entire time. I have Google for that. I give it a 1 because she was polite. Just not helpful or knowledgeable.

We had this coverage over 20 years ago and they were horrible even back then. I would never choose them if I had another choice. The was a lot of preapprovals to be able to do anything. They choose the doctors you could see and there was not any consistancy in being able to see the same doctor. I felt the physicians they had very not top quality.

Cigna charges way too much and ultimately my family has ended up paying for a majority of the tests and procedures that my son has needed. I guess they figure we love paying half a thousand dollars a month for absolutely nothing. I would love to see this company disappear completely. It's as if they figure we just loved taking diagnostic tests and we didn't need the actual help of the insurance company covering it.
