The Year 2020

Author: Kaitlyn Short

LAST UPDATED: December 21st, 2020

Founded January 1, 2020, The Year 2020 started with great expectations. However, the company quickly took a turn for the worse in the spring as it reeled from global public health and economic crises.

Preparing to quarantine, customers across the world panic shopped until there was no toilet paper, disinfectant, or canned soup to be found. Then, The Year 2020 created all sorts of civil and political unrest.

Confronted with a terrible customer experience and limited company support, customers showed strength, resilience, and compassion. Some customers found silver linings or experienced personal growth.

Even though some things divided customers, they can agree on one thing: no one would have ever guessed The Year 2020's ill-fated future.

With such a rough first year in business, Best Company cannot recommend The Year 2020 to potential customers.

2020 “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” - Charles Dickens It was the best because some of my classes got a whole lot easier. It was the worst because some of my classes got a whole lot harder. It was the best because I got AirPods for online schooling. It was the worst because I couldn’t show them off to any of my friends. It was the best because my dad got to work from home. It was the worst because he always wanted to eat lunch super early. It was the best because my brother came home from college. It was the worst because the kitchen table got overcrowded with our notebooks. It was the best because I watched shows and played games with my brother. It was the worst because that meant watching two hours of Marble Olympics on YouTube. It was the best because I spent more time with my family. It was the worst because sports, trips, summer camps and concerts were cancelled. It was the best because I got to read Hunger Games for the first time. It was the worst because I got to read Hunger Games for the first time. It was the best because my brother met his future wife. It was the worst because we had no idea what their wedding would look like. It was the best because my sister and her husband got great job offers. It was the worst because they had to work from their one bedroom apartment. It was the best because I finally got my drivers license. It was the worst because I had hardly anywhere to drive to. It was the best because I started my junior year of high school. It was the worst because we got shut down twice and had to go remote. It was the best because I got a part in our school’s production of Clue. It was the worst because we still don’t know if it will happen or not. It was the best because wearing masks in the winter keeps my face warm. It was the worst because wearing masks in the summer ruins my makeup. It was the best because the world was more united. It was the worst because the world was more divided. Every year has its ups and downs, so what’s so different about this one? This one seemed to have a few more, I’ll admit, but every worst has its best.

2020 though not the year I was expecting and hoping for was actually a good year for humanity. Although it brought devastation and wide spread panic it also brought families closer together. It had a a surprising clue to uncover.

I'm giving 2020 a 3 star rating. Covid really put a damper on things, but I had my second child, our sweet baby boy this past year, so that definitely added a few stars. I only wish we could have shared our joy with our family!

I gave 2020 a middle of the road rating because circumstances surrounding the COVID outbreak and Presidential election left much to be desired. COVID will be defeated with a vaccine but the defeat of Donald Trump has left me in shock. I pray for our country because of the incoming administration and what is perceived concerning their beliefs.

Could have been better. Didn’t get to celebrate my 30th birthday. But got to spend lots of time with my husband and child. So I guess it was okay. Also, started my business this year too.

2020 was a tough year for all of us. But one thing i can say is that 2020 helped me get more confident of myself. I am grateful for that. And last thing my nephew was born on 2020❤❤
