Instant Communication Without Internet Access

Although there are apps and smartphones with parental control features, smartphones may still pose a risk to children through its core features such as internet browsing, social media, unrestricted messaging, and app stores. In contrast, the Cosmo Smartwatch does not have internet access or apps, easing monitoring concerns for parents. The smartwatch enables instant communication through voice calls, text messages, voice messages, and video calling on 4G LTE networks in the United States. The smartwatch also has an SOS alert mode where a child can ping their parents’ phone with an urgent alert and call emergency contacts.


GPS Tracking and Geofencing

The Cosmo Smartwatch provides real-time GPS tracking so parents can know their child’s location at all times. In addition to the GPS tracking, the smartwatch also offers geofencing where parents can set up safe zones and receive an alert if their child leaves the zone. Location accuracy depends on which method is being used to report the child’s location. When outside in an open area, the accuracy is between five to ten meters. When indoors connected to Wi-Fi, the accuracy is between 50 to 100 meters. Location Based Tracking (LBS) triangulates the watches position by using cell towers; the accuracy of LBS is between 500 to 2,000 meters. LBS is only used when both GPS and Wi-Fi are unavailable. 

Secure Phonebook

Through Cosmo Smartwatch’s secure phonebook, children are only able to call saved contacts. The phonebook can store up to 30 contacts enabling safe communication between the child and multiple family members and friends. Additionally, there is a block stranger calls feature in which calls from unknown numbers are blocked. 

Durable and Waterproof

Designed for children in kindergarten through eighth grade, the Cosmo Smartwatch is durable and waterproof. It has no glass features and is comfortable to wear. The watch is rated IP67: it is protected from dust and is waterproof in up to three feet of water for up to 30 minutes. The watch can withstand daily functions such as washing hands or rainy days, but it is recommended to remove before swimming or showering.

Free with 12-Month Subscription Plan

The Cosmo Smartwatch is free with free annual upgrades when parents sign up for a 12-month subscription. When parents opt for a 12-month subscription, they also receive a 30 percent discount on subscription services. Cosmo Smartwartch’s subscription includes unlimited 4G data, calls, and messaging. If parents do not want to commit to a year, they can sign up for the month-to-month subscription service and buy the device for 75 percent off. 

30-Day Return Policy

If parents are unsatisfied with the Cosmo Smartwatch, they can return the smartwatch for a refund of the initial activation fee, return shipping costs deducted, within 30 days of receipt.

There is no clear indication as to how reliable the smartwatches or services are as Cosmo Smartwatch has only been in the industry since June 2020.

Although a six-month warranty is included with the Cosmo Smartwatch, its competitor, the LG GizmoGadget, has a 12-month warranty.

The Bottom Line

The Cosmo Smartwatch provides parents and children a first device that is a simple and secure method of communication without the litany of risks associated with smartphone usage at an early age. The smartwatch has all key features desired in a smartwatch phone for children: calling, video calling, messaging, GPS enabled, geofencing, secure phonebook, durable, and SOS alerts. The overall cost of the watch and subscription services is similar to the LG GizmoGadget, but has the added benefit of unlimited 4G data, calls, and messaging that isn’t provided for the GizmoGadget when enrolled through Verizon Wireless.

Cosmo Smartwatch is new to the industry, and although it provides a six-month warranty, it is not clear how reliable the smartwatch or services are as it's only been in business since 2020. Parents are able to return the smartwatch within 30 days of receipt if they are unsatisfied with the services.

THE Track Jr. was gifted to my daughter for her birthday. It is sub-par at best. Even though it has "school" hours, it allows the kids to make and take calls and text messages. It is also very basic and has no value, except that parents can see where their kids are with the GPS and can connect with them - cheaper to just buy the kids a parentally controlled phone - especially with the cost of the membership to actually use the watch. Not only that, but because it was gifted more than 30 days after purchase, they would not allow a return. Awful product and awful customer service.

If I could give negative stars I would. These people are the worst kind of slime. They have “excellent” friendly buttery customer service to run you in circles with calm, pretend concern and care, and to stall while trying to continue to take your money via the service plans. I bought two watches in November 2023 for Christmas 2023 for my two kids. We activated them in January 2024 with some significant help from customer service, turning them on and off, and resetting them ad nauseam. The watches never worked reliably. I was provided a replacement finally in March 2024 and by this summer I had had it. I asked for a refund. for the recent service plan that we did not use as well as the watches. Robeir the operations manager agreed to provide a refund and provided a shipping label to return the two watches. I returned them on September 3rd. They promised a refund should be coming in 3-5 days upon receipt of the watches. They finally issued a refund for the August service plan on September 19th. After following up with them several times they kept stating that a refund would be forthcoming. Today Daniel, Jerry and Robeir tell me via email after my two calls today, that because I bought the watches in November 2023 (for Christmas presents) that they could NOT issue a refund- even though (1) the watches are both defective and (2) they have the watches. What is with these fraud companies that are only looking to sell crappy products and steal your money (rhetorical question)? I think there should be a class action suit against Cosmo Technologies. I am already planning to file a lawsuit and file complaints with all relevant agencies. Any positive reviews you see anywhere on the internet have to be bots or bought and paid for, because there is no way these watches are working well. They are complete and utter crap.

It's early for our experience with COSMO, and so far it appears they have been slammed during the holidays. Santa brought 2 watches with full year plans to our household. One of the watches never worked. We tried multiple paths to reaching their Customer Care over about ten days. It seems their phone support is totally overwhelmed in the holiday aftermath; heavily recommend pursuing support strictly over email or chat until they can improve the voice support. Once we appealed to management, we received almost an instantaneous remediation to the open issues. We will circle back later when we have more experience with the product.

Absolutely terrible reception!! We live in the suburbs of Salt Lake City. Absolutely no trouble with cell phone coverage. Yet you can't even have a conversation on the watch because it cuts in and out. Battery life is absolutely terrible. If my kid got lost or something bad happened, the watch would be useless because it barely lasts through school. Very disappointed in this product. It's a joke.

It does what it says in their website. With this Geolocation feature I KNOW where is my son, which gives me peace of mind. I can call my son and he can call me anytime from anywhere. It's a big deal when he is 4 years old. And if he just need some encouragement, he send me a short voice text, and I reply "Good Job!". It makes a huge difference in his confidence. This Cosmo Smartwatch definitely contributed to build our father-son relationship.

In a day and age where social media is absolutely recking our children’s self-esteem, it’s so hard to decide when they should have a phone. We want them to be safe, to know where they are going, we want them to call if anything goes wrong, while also protecting their social intake. Cosmo watch is an amazing tool for parents in that in-between stage with their children. Letting kids be kids just a tad longer!

I give the COSMO watch 0 stars and myself 1 star for getting myself into this. I know one gets what they pay for and I should have known going with a refurb watch and contract to save money was a bad idea. The watch has not worked properly since the first three days we’ve used it. We’re only still using it because I’m under a contract. Once this little contract is over I’m done with COSMO and this watch. My little one can’t call out 99% of the time and I can’t call the watch 100% of the time. Messaging works, but calling is faster. That’s the part that needs to work above all else. The tracking is poor, taking quite a while to catch on to where our little one is or just not being able to sometimes. None of the troubleshooting provided by Customer Support helped, including having the number changed. They offered to change it again, but like, why? It will not work. We will be rid of this watch as soon as we can and just spend the money on an actual smartwatch. It will cost more, but it will actually work ALL of the time.

I was looking for a device which provides a sense of safety and the ability to communicate, without the entire world having access to the child. Do NOT buy this product! If you can get past the cheap bulky plastic watch itself, you will absolutely HATE the interface! YAlso you have to buy a contract to even TRY the interface and they push you into longer contracts which CAN NOT be refunded if you don’t like the product. Let’s be honest, this product is for kids, and how long does it take for kids to know if they will use or like a product like this? Well if it’s a day beyond 15 days, believe that they will keep any money you have paid them. This isn’t a watch company, it’s a cell plan scam to have you pay exponentially more on their “service” than on their actual product. Oh, btw, the service team that actually processes any real concerns does not have a contact. There is also no where to guide you on cancelling the service in all of the FAQs. Nothing on their site about canceling service. Buyer beware, you have 15 days. That’s all and they will keep anything you have given them. DO NOT BUY this cheap product.

I purchased 3 watches on 11/24. They now only give 15?days to try it out. When I first got the phone. Customer agent helped me set up. I was able to reach a person a few time by phone and leave messages. I purchased to hive for Christmas. However, after the 15 days was up you can’t find anyone to call back. You can’t leave messages either. During the Christmas week I left 4 messages and I never hit a call back. After reading reviews all over the web they seem to be backed up because their watch are problems. My issues were gps weren’t tracking my kids in the right location. I also kept getting false safezone notice over 30 during school time. I had to call the school to check if my kids were in school. The other issues is I can’t seem to call my children, I kept getting recording from Verizon that I can’t reach the party. Another day I was. The amount of use I kids got is not worth the $ 45 I payed. The watch I purchased was the jr 2SE. They send me three free jr3 but I was to transfer the sims card I’m not sure how that will help. When this watch gets here if I continue to have the same problem I will be canceling my subscription for breach as they are not providing the services that claim they offer. I have tons of email messages as evidence. This was written on 1/5/2024 from Connecticut

This watch is VERY cheaply made. It is difficult to navigate through the options - and at the same time, it is extremely easy to make an incorrect selection (like, accidentally changing the language to Korean when trying to change something else in the settings). Additionally, the watch has never worked correctly. It would never make nor receive calls - and the texting feature is very limited. It did not accurately track my child's location either - often showing him several states away, when I knew for a fact that he was just at our neighborhood park. Overall, pretty unhappy with the purchase and will just send my child out with a walkie-talkie as that is a better option than this watch.

Do not buy! The watch is cheaply made and does not align to the price they are charging. My kids hated the watch. Long story short after multiple trouble shooting sessions we could never get it to work on their network. When I went to cancel they mentioned we had signed a 6 month contract and would continue to charge us $40 a month for the watch to sit in the drawer. They were unwilling to offer any refund; this is a terrible company.

This product was incredibly difficult and confusing to set up. Also, the technology didn't work as it was supposed to. I couldn't reach anyone from customer service to help me, either on the app or over the phone. When you call the customer service number, you just get hung up on over and over again. I have now received numerous automated emails from the company telling them how much they care about me, but haven't been able to speak to anyone. At this point, I am trying to cancel the product and subscription and get a refund, but I can't get through to anyone to do that. This whole experience has been an absolute nightmare. Definitely recommend going with a different product as this one is a complete waste of your time and money!

Buyer beware!!!!!! DO NOT BUY This, If you see this , that means customer service has not made this right with me. I bought 3 cosmo watch's and none of them got service at my house (partially my fault) when contacting customer service to cancel, they said it was after the 14 day grace period and i would be stuck paying for 3 watch phones and $60 a month for 6 months. there was not way to get out of it!!. Plus the watch phones didn't seem that great. texting worked sometimes around town, Honestly very disappointed and will be buying Gizmo's with Verizon.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! My child’s number was somehow hacked and the SIM was compromised. A man now controls his number that we were still being charged for. When bringing this up to customer support, they didn’t seem to care and then lied about our reason for canceling. It’s not safe or secure trust your children with a different company!!

Complete waste of money and trust. We bought two watches for our children in school so we can keep in contact with them when needed. And it turns out to be totally worthless. The watch shows the signal strength is normal. When my son calls me, my phone rings. But neither of us can hear each other. Texting doesn’t go through either way. Imagine at the moment you need to get in touch with your children, and that’s exactly when COSMO fails. Too bad for us we bought an annual plan! We are stuck for a year! Don’t make the same mistakes!

This watch is terrible. I purchased three of them and still cannot get any of them set up. It's been two weeks and I'm trying to get my money back for the plans and insurance I bought. I've tried contacting customer service and they're awful as well. Supposedly I'm getting a call back but I'm not holding my breath. I've spent almost $1000 between the watches, plans and insurance and they are awful

Do not buy this watch..Mine will not connect to server and I have called to get help three days in a row and the same person has answered..That should tell you something.He knew absolutely nothing.All he could tell me is we will have someone get back with you..If I could get some help on fixing my issue,I think it would b ok...I've already paid for a prescription and on top of that the watch band is already broke.

AVOID at all cost! I bought two, paid for the subscription. Only one of the watches worked but when my son calls me I cannot hear him, it overheats!!! It burned my son! I am still waiting for them to reach out to connect the second watch but at this point I wish I would have gotten Verizon watches instead.

The charge does not last and the signal is not consistent. We purchased this for Christmas and tried to return it before it had been activated 30 days, but the guarantee only applies to 30 days from the purchase date. Look elsewhere for a watch option!!

Don't waste your money. The service is spotty at best and we live in an area where we have never had a problem with other providers. Tech support is untrained and cannot resolve issues. They pay customers to leave 5 star reviews by giving then a free month of service.
