Read on for more pros and cons, plus GoToConnect reviews from real customers.

The Good

  • Affordable
  • Features
  • Customer Support

GoToConnect-hosted VoIP offers business phone systems and services with affordable pricing through a cloud-based platform, without a great deal of commitment. No long-term contracts are required and billing is based on your total number of users. It runs on a month-to-month basis, which makes it easy to adjust your plan as your company and customer-base grows and expands through time. The standard pricing is as follows:

  • Tier 1 (1 to 4 users) - $29.95 per user
  • Tier 2 (5 to 9 users) - $25.95 per user
  • Tier 3 (10 to 24 users) - $23.95 per user
  • Tier 4 (25 to 49 users) - $21.95 per user
  • Tier 5 (50+ users) - $19.95 per user

Custom pricing is available for 100+ users. Contact customer service for more info on GoToConnect.

Customers will typically only need one phone number to use GoToConnect because the system provides you with unlimited channels that act as a rollover line for incoming calls. This allows your business to field a large volume of inbound calls without the phone ever ringing busy. Additional phone numbers can be purchased for $1.75 a month (or $5 a month if you are using a Tier 1 plan).

There is also the option of setting up a toll-free number for a rate of 1.9 cents per minute.

International calls to 52 countries are free for new GoToConnect customers, with a few exceptions. Additionally, administrators can designate which employees have access to international calling via the management platform.

In addition to voice calls, GoToConnect offers all of the unified communication and VoIP features you need to run a successful business, including:

  • Auto-attendant and hold music for incoming calls
  • Call analytics
  • Call monitoring and recording
  • Call reporting
  • Calling logs
  • Conference calling with a 10-party conference bridge
  • Corporate directory
  • Desktop integration
  • Internet faxing
  • Intuitive web management
  • Multi-site compatibility
  • Number porting
  • Online PBX Controls
  • Toll-free service
  • Unlimited calling within the contiguous United States and some parts of Canada
  • Unlimited phone queues
  • Video conferencing
  • Voicemail to email

Included with your subscription is softphone access via GoToConnect mobile applications for your cell phone and computer, including an online web portal, as well as a desktop app option.

GoToConnect also offers a feature called Dial Plan. Dial Plan allows the customer to map out their call flows using a drag-and-drop canvas. Dial Plan allows you to plan exactly where incoming calls will go and gives you information, such as wait times, voicemail boxes, and more, and is customizable to any business hours. You can also administer outgoing calls.

Customer Support

If you do encounter any problems during setup or regular use, GoToConnect offers customer service and tech support team 24/7 via phone and live chat so you can receive assistance quickly. Because it is a cloud-based VoIP system, you can expect calls to be consistent and reliable. GoToConnect cloud uses distributed data centers and line fail-over systems in the event of any hardware or IP failure so you can easily recover from any potential system issue or failure.

The Bad

  • Internet Service Not Provided

Internet Service Not Provided

GoToConnect requires a high-speed internet connection in order to successfully access its cloud-based phone. Unfortunately, obtaining high-speed internet service is not provided by the company, and customers are required to support the VoIP service with their own internet connection. This VoIP provider may not be ideal for small business phone service.

The Bottom Line

GoToConnect's cloud phone services have some great advantages for the business customer compared to other VoIP providers. These include the following:

  • Competitive pricing tiers that run on a month-to-month basis without any contracts
  • No installation fees
  • The option of using your existing equipment or purchasing upgraded equipment from the company's store.

You can easily build a system that meets the needs of your company without having to pay for additional lines until you actually need them. GoToConnect's simple installation process is ideal for people who wish to avoid complicated setup procedures or don't have a lot of technical experience.

Since GoToConnect is a cloud-based phone service provider, you can be at peace knowing that your company's VoIP service will run smoothly and can easily recover in the event of system or hardware failure.

If you are a small business owner looking for a phone system that can readily grow with your company or you are in charge of a large-scale contact center or call-heavy business and looking to help lower costs, GoToConnect offers competitive packages with 80+ collaboration products in their unified communications package on top of their hosted VoIP technology, like mobile app and online portal access for phone calls and video conferencing, virtual fax, and call analytics.

1. The Customer Service is outstanding. The sales department and tech support do everything possible to try to solve issues. 2. I have some issues with dropped calls. It is difficult to know if this is due to the JIVE router or Comcast Internet. However, it is disturbing when it occurs. 3. The phone that JIVE provided me can be difficult in some ways. For example, it is not always easy to tell who has called me in the history option. 4. The JIVE app on my iPhone needs improvement. It is not as user-friendly as it could be. 5. Despite the issues, it has generally been a good experience with JIVE. I will have to see how it works over the coming months to know definitively.

The phone system is a little convoluted at first. If you have technical support questions, it is quite a hassle to get to a tech. Some of the Techs are very helpful and courteous, while others would soon you use the website for your issues.

I used Jive at a former company I worked for. It worked well and was pretty reliable.
