Learn To Be

My name is Angel and I have tutored over 200 hours with Learn To Be. I started in freshmen year in high school because I wanted volunteer hours, but also to have a good impact on other people. I found Learn To Be through some searching on the Internet. Fast forward 1 year later, I am so happy to have found this service. I like the easy flexibility and schedule it provides for tutors and students. The thing I liked least about being a tutor in Learn To Be is that some students/parents are uncommitted at times, so we would agree on sessions, yet the other party will not show up last minute. I sometimes find myself to have to release the student, which I feel horrible about because I know it wasn't the student's fault, but the parent's. However, I don't think this is something Learn To Be have full control on their end, which is why I leave the rating with full marks. I hope other high school students join Learn To Be as a tutor too!

I have been a tutor on this platform for around 2 years. During this time period, I have tutored numerous students while being part of many Learn To Be events, such as Summer Study Buddies and Tutor Corps. I really like this program because it allows me to share my love of teaching by tutoring students one-on-one who need help in specific school subjects. I also appreciate how tutors are able to select students based on their specific subject needs, ensuring that the students you work with align with your skills and expertise. Additionally, I really like the feature of group events, which allows tutors to schedule classes where they can teach numerous students at once about topics they are well-versed in. Through my time at Learn To Be, I have not only improved my teaching and communication skills, but I have also become more responsible and organized. Overall, my experience with Learn To Be has been very rewarding, and I would recommend it to students looking for a meaningful way to help their community while making a real impact by bringing education to students around America.

It’s honestly been such a happy experience tutoring with Learn To Be. There’s something really special about watching a student go from “this makes no sense” to suddenly getting it, like you can literally see their confidence grow. One of my students this year ended up getting an A after struggling so much in the beginning, and moments like that just stay with you. It makes you feel like you’re actually making a difference in someone’s life, even in a small way. I’m really grateful I get to be part of that kind of progress!

I have been tutoring with Learn To be for nearly two years now and it has been one of the best experiences of my life. LTB provides many opportunities for tutoring students and how to support them.

Tutoring at Learn To Be has been incredibly rewarding and has provided me with a chance to share my love for learning with other students who may not get the opportunity to in their communities. With students from all over the United States, I've been able to find new students based on their subjects specific needs on an accessible and easy-to-use platform. From scheduling a session to messaging with students, it is simple to stay in touch with the students and make sure they get the help they need at any time. The platform is going through continuous improvement to make the experience seamless for their users, and they even recently implemented an automatic tool that records your hours. The tutors and staff are dedicated to help you, and I would recommend Learn To Be for anyone looking to tutor, or looking for a tutor.

I have been a tutor with Learn To Be for three years now, and it has been one of my most meaningful experiences in the service of others. Support flows in all directions! From my students’ families to the tutor Slack network, to the community moderators, to my wonderful students, I am guided, motivated, and encouraged at every step of the way! Learn To Be invests in quality education for its students – from securing an unlimited Zoom license to facilitate seamless weekly sessions, to providing access to various learning platforms (IXL, Epic!, and many more), to instituting a Learning Hub with question banks, tutor-created resources, and an AI education tool, it consistently advocates for exceptional education for its students, creating an environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and seeking learning opprtinties. The greatest lesson I have gleaned from tutoring with Learn To Be: the learning is always mutual. My students may learn a new phoneme, vocabulary word, or math concept, and I learn to be inspired by them every single day to never stop learning! I am honored to belong to this incredible mission.

Hello, This is Evan Park, and I am a high school student in GA. I've been tutoring with LearnToBe for almost two years, and it's been an smooth experience. The platform provides amazing opportunities to support students who truly need it, and the flexibility allows tutors to make a difference on their own schedule. It also allowed to develop a sense of passion for tutoring and I learned some real world skills along the way such as responsibility, patience, and speaking in public. One small challenge I've noticed is that, since LearnToBe is a free service for families, there can occasionally be cases where students don't show up for scheduled sessions. It’s understandable, but it can be a bit discouraging when you've prepared and a student doesn’t arrive. That said, the goods outweigh the cons, and I still highly recommend LearnToBe.

I've been working with Learn to Be for a little more than 1 year now and so far I think it's been a great experience! I recommend any student who needs volunteer hours to give it a try. Not only are you able to volunteer remotely, choose your own hours, and be in this great community of tutors, the leadership are also incredibly helpful and kind! It's a great environment to work in.

Learn To Be is an incredible tutoring platform that truly makes a difference! As a tutor, I’ve seen firsthand how this program provides free, one-on-one academic support to students who need it most. The flexibility, supportive community, and rewarding experience make it a fantastic place to volunteer. Watching students grow in confidence and skills over time is so fulfilling. I highly recommend Learn To Be to anyone looking to give back and make a meaningful impact in education!

Speaking as a volunteer tutor with a sibling who is getting tutoring with Learn to Be! First off, the organization is wonderful-- wonderful kids, tutors, staff (most of the time). Their organization is well-meaning and students DO improve their grades tremendously, especially with an attentive tutor. Keyword: attentive. Now, if the parent, child, or tutor is not attentive, that's when things get disorganized fast. Miscommunication can lead to angry talks from either side, thus time is wasted and grades do not go up at all. There's also another thing: I wish communication was better in a lot of different ways. Sometimes parents aren't clear about what their student needs tutoring in. Sometimes parents (or even tutors) don't respond. Sometimes (or actually, way too many times) the correct time zone isn't picked out correctly... it's hard to fix this too, I talked to the staff and received no response. But either way, as a tutor, there's a lot of benefit with joining Learn to Be. You pick your own schedule, choose the student who best fits your skill set, and move on with them. Currently, I'm in the program Tutor Corps and in return for 200 tutoring hours, you receive the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, a letter rec, and a $1000 stipend. I've also received wonderful career guidance, and since a good amount of the tutors recruited are students, this is VERY IMPORTANT. One small problem however, I do not think we are communicated with enough. We get an email or text once in a blue moon. In the end, it's important to realize that it is free. You can totally have this same experience with a tutor you *do* pay for (it's happened). Most parents come in frustrated with their student's grades, then come out happier. My students have risen their grade ~20% plus passed tests that seemed cumbersome at first. If both the parents and tutors take the initiative to communicate properly and show up, there's a huge chance their student WILL improve. I hope the staff becomes more organized as well.

Learn To Be has provided the structure, tools and training that have allowed me to become a successful tutor and help many deserving students. I am grateful for the opportunity that the Learn To Be Organization provides. Tutorials and Zoom meetings help to get started on a program and they are easy to follow. The software platform used by Learn To Be provides a secure and safe online environment for both tutors and students. As a tutor, I feel that I have truly been impacted by the students as much as I have impacted their learning experiences. My tutoring experience has been invaluable and I highly recommend everyone to start tutoring through Learn to Be. There are so many resources for tutors and guidance, and I have loved creating friendships with my students and watching their progress. -Nicole Lefavour

Tutor Corp has been an incredibly meaningful experience. The support, care, and connections built with students go beyond academics. It’s about growth, confidence, and making a real impact. I’m so grateful to be part of this team.

I love tutoring with Learn To Be because it gives me the chance to make a real difference in a student’s life. The platform makes it easy to connect with students who truly benefit from one-on-one support. It’s rewarding to see their confidence grow over time, and I appreciate being part of a program that values education and equity.

I have worked as a volunteer tutor for LearnToBe for over a year now, and it has had a great impact on my mindset and lifestyle. I have learned many new skills, like patience and time management, and I have also earned many volunteering service hours as a volunteer tutor.

Being apart of Learn to Be is such a rewarding and fulfilling experience. I absolutely enjoy teaching my four students online and making a difference in their education. With such hardworking tutors volunteering with the goal of better education for all, I absolutely recommend the Learn to Be Foundation.

Working with LTB as a tutor has been an incredibly fulfilling experience for me. I have enjoyed working with numerous incredible students. Other comments have mentioned difficulties with students and tutors not being responsive. In my experience, this is rare, and when it did occur, finding a new student to work with was simple and easy.

I have volunteered at LearntoBe for four years, and it has been a rewarding and fulfilling experience. I have met many amazing students on this platform and developed skills and techniques to help them best approach each problem. There is a huge amount of flexibility; tutors and students get to choose times that work best for them and coordinate with each other. The website is also super user-friendly and accessible. I would highly recommend LearntoBe to everyone!

Learn to be offers incredible free tutoring to underprivileged youth in america. As a tutor myself, I get to firsthand witness just how valuable this tutoring can be. From a tutors perspective, Learn to be offers a ton of resources that make my job easier. If you are looking into LTB from a students perspective, I would highly recommend LTB as its dedicated tutors and flexible hours can be found on no other tutoring site.

I joined Learn to Be as a tutor in November 2023, and I have had good and bad experiences alike. Most families were nice and understanding while others may not be as much. The most challenging part about it is probably students/families leaving you on read or disconnect with you without any explanations which I admit was very disheartening. But I joined their Tutur Corp started in June 2024 that will run until June 2025 and I feel that this program has definitely makes me view Learn to Be more positively and allow me to fully provide my services to those in need because it allows me to have consistent meetings with my students. I would say that if you have flexibility or if you are a student, joining the Tutor Corp will surely make your efforts more worthwhile and meaningful.

Learn To Be is such an amazing platform for both tutors and students. As a high school student, I was having trouble finding a platform that allowed people my age to tutor online, but Learn To Be let me connect with students from across the country, free of charge to the students! Not only has Learn To Be offered me an opportunity to help students increase their grades and confidence and get accepted into their dream schools, but it has also taught me invaluable lessons about teaching, learning, and scheduling.

Tutoring for Learn To Be has been a wonderful experience because it has given me and many others the opportunity to reach out to underserved students and help them succeed. From the tutor's side of the platform, everything is very straightforward and easy to use. Scheduling sessions and communicating with students and parents is seamless and I have not had any problems using the platform. I love how simple it is to start sessions and record feedback in the summary surveys. I love that it is so simple to get started and how fulfilling it has been to change the lives of students and families.

Learn To Be is a website that's free for all, which is part of its appeal. However because it is a platform where people volunteer to teach, there is a certain amount of professionalism that is lacking. The teachers here, me included, won't have the same skill that school teachers have in teaching. It also depends on what tutor you get on if your experience with the website will go well. Because of the lack of professionalism it can also be hard for teachers because the students aren't always going to try or show up to class. This lack of accountability and attentiveness can be attributed to the fact that the program is free, but it can still be difficult for teachers. In general, Learn To Be is a website that is generally great but could do with improvements. I know that they are trying to make the site easier and better for both students and teachers though, so I look forward to seeing how it improves!

Speaking as a fellow tutor, Learn To Be is a great free tutoring program that helps students improve their grades and learn for free! The staff is supportive, and we tutors can set our own schedules, making it really flexible. The sessions can be held easily and just by a click of a button. There are some challenges, like missing student info or trouble reaching parents at times. Communication can be tricky at times, but most issues can be worked out. Since tutors are volunteers, the quality can vary. But overall, it’s a solid program, and I’ve had a good experience with it. If I were a student on the other hand, I would definitely want to use this platform, especially since it is free!

Speaking as a Learn To Be Tutor, I would say that this program is a wonderful free service. The organization is well meaning, and the staff try their best to address any concerns and tackle any issues that are brought up. Students can improve their grades with consistent effort and communications with the tutor, and it is very rewarding to see. As a tutor, you are able to pick your own schedule and generally volunteer as you and your student see fit, granting a large amount of freedom and flexibility. However, there are some issues with missing student information or parents reaching out to ask for more sessions or subjects after connecting as a tutor. It can also be difficult to reach parents at times, and it's frustrating to see missing or unclear information from students. To sum, while the program itself is good, people can be inconsistent and communication is a issue at times. Ultimately, the service is great for a free program, and the errors with communication can usually be overlooked or resolved. Most of the tutors are students, however, which is something to be aware of. I've personally had a good experience with Learn To Be and recommend it, though the quality of tutoring may vary due to all tutors being volunteers and most being students themselves. Overall, it's a good program but there may be hiccups when finding a tutor that best fits your needs.

I've tutored with Learn to Be for over a year now! It's an amazing platform to make a true impact on the community, as well as get volunteer hours and experience. I've had such a great time tutoring my students! Furthermore, it's super easy to keep track of hour many hours you've done. The classroom tools are also super helpful! I love that we have an IXL account as it makes tutoring sessions so much smoother. Great platform!

As a student who has been tutoring for Learn To Be throughout high school, I can say confidently that it is a great, free resource for underprivileged kids. The kids I tutor have improved their reading, writing, and math so much! And, navigating through the loops of this organization has shown me how everyone here is SO passionate about giving everyone an equal opportunity to get an education. It's amazing to see an organization so committed to this cause.

I am a tutor at Learn To Be--they really try to make it as easy as possible. Logging hours is now automatic, and they have some great programs. Not to mention, the people are amazing :]

As a tutor with LearnToBe, I love all of the opportunities that it has to offer. I have had the privilege to support so many students and families while gaining experience as an aspiring educator.

As a Tutor in Learn To Be I believe that this platform has allowed me to grow within myself. I've been able to teach many kids and this has been a fascinating experience so far.

The tutor community on Learn To Be is incredible! The team is constantly open to feedback and extremely quick to resolve any issues or answer any questions. The platform is constantly improving, making it easier to serve the students.

I have been a tutor with LearnToBe for about a year and a half now, and the support I've gotten is incredible. Like all systems, it isn't perfect and I have had my fair share of struggles related to my students and understanding how to support them, but the admin and fellow tutors of LTB have been amazing and have helped me in every way possible. From free resources to advice to a substitute when necessary, they made my tutoring experience as amazing as possible.

Good platform with good intentions. There are very high quality tutors on here, and some who are maybe not as high quality. Overall, though you do get your money's worth (especially since it is free). I have no complaints, really decent platform.

Coming from a LTB tutor, this is a great opportunity for me to meet many different kinds of students and witness their confidence grow! I love that I can choose my own students and set my own schedule. I recommend it to any students looking for free tutoring or to be a potential tutor!

Learn to Be is a great platform that provides free tutoring to students. The tutors are knowledgeable and passionate about the subjects they teach.
