Mathnasium was created in 2002, inspired by the work of math educator Larry Martinek. Over 40 years ago he decided to find a better way to teach children math and created the Mathnasium Method. Mathnasium provides in-person tutoring for elementary through high school students. An online version of the service is available in a limited number of states. Mathnasium says it helps change their clients' fear of math as well as make improvement in their understanding of the subject.

The Mathnaisum Method uses a combination of mental, verbal, visual, tactile, and written techniques to help struggling students master math. Furthermore, they offer both enrichment, for advanced students, and remediation, for struggling students.
In-Person Tutoring
Mathanisum offers one-on-one tutoring at their learning centers. Students receive individual instruction face-to-face. This may be especially advantageous for younger students.
