Three managers changed over 8 months. Not met the code on outbuilding. Attempted to convince me to pay on survey after signed the agreement. Setbacks on short supplies. Delivered to wrong address that caused delay. Then installers not followed my location instructions. When I asked the company for revised the contract after canceled the part of trenching but they won’t and force me to get the cash after completed the system. However they don’t have money to give me the refund. Have to do the legal action- started w bbb now. Just very disappointed with company’s lack of integrity and malpractice. The team are not on same page between departments.

Paid for 50+ solar panels, half of which did not work for over a year. Months of requests for assistance were ignored. Finally sent a solar contractor to fix the problem, but will not engage in a conversation about why this took a year to figure out that we had that many panels offline.

Choose another solar company and save your money, time, and reputation. In my situation, SolarSME failed to live up to its name, and they are failing to honor their contract. My Solar panels have been operational since late July 2022. Prior to going operational the installation was fraught with incompetence (see description and photos below) and lack of follow through. At the first anniversary of being operational the system is woefully underperforming by 23%. I reached out to SolarSME in August 2023 to “work together in good faith” according to the contract only to be led along for four months and then dismissed by SolarSME. My HOA does not allow solar panels to be installed on the front of houses, so SolarSME suggested they could install in the back using solar panel tilt legs for optimal performance. The design was created in December of 2021 and on 18 January of 2022 the project manager emailed, “Annual production with this layout: 18.05MHw per year.” I made my decision to proceed with the project based on 18.05MHw. I am currently getting 77% (13.1MWh) of the production agreed upon and according to the contract I should be getting at least 90% (16.245MWh). In hindsight, this lack of production is only mildly surprising because the installation crew had no idea how to install tilt legs. They improperly installed two arrays and then had to remove them, patch up the holes, and reattach them to the roof. This project was supposed to take 72hours and instead it lasted two weeks. The last day of the project was rushed, and it didn’t end until 9pm. They left pallets and a hole in the dry wall near my electrical panel. I brought this to the project manager’s attention multiple times, and he did nothing. He was only concerned with the final payment and 5-star reviews. I had to dispose of the garbage and pallets and then patch the hole myself. I have saved the reviews until now. In trying to resolve this issue the company says the production problem is due to shading. According to SolarSME, the shading is due to the solar panel arrays being too close indicating either a design flaw or installation failure. But there are no shading discussions in email, text, or on the phone in and around the 18 January 2022 date when I was emailed the annual production rate of 18.05MWh and I relied on that in making my decision to move forward. Annual production of 13.1MWh’s (77%) means SolarSME is not fulfilling their part of the contract.

Terrible experience with this solar installer It took several months after signing to eventually get the installer to work on the home and installation quality if very poor. They have installed solar for several homes in my neighborhood and most of them have roof leaks due to shoddy installation. Debris is left on the roof after the job. Required several follow ups to have the left over material cleaned up once installation was done. Denis and Sam at solar SME have left us disappointed many times during this process Referral bonus was not processed in spite of several follow ups. Don't have any confidence left that they will be able to follow through on warranty requests going forward

I started this process in June because I wanted to ensure the tax credit. It's now December 2022 and I was told that the person helping me (Omar D) was no longer with the company and they were not going to get my job done by 12/31/2022 because of "county delays". They did not realize I was following the county permitting process and the quality control review was rejected not once, not twice, but more than 3 times on both electrical and structural issues because the rep kept submitting applications with incomplete information, inaccurate information and not submitting it to code. Why was the person handling my project let go? He was incompetent. I had even messaged the supervisor more than a couple of times during the process in September and October 2022 expressing my concerns for very basic things being rejected on the application and raised my concerns about how it was going to be installed. It went ignored. They kept reassuring me that everything was fine and running smoothly. It wasn't. I even contacted the county permitting department and very simple things were missed (among bigger things) that a prudent company would not have missed. Then they tell me that they have to run my credit again because they wouldn't be able to get it done on time and rates had gone up so my previous loan wouldn't be honored. The cost? At least an additional $6k because interest rates had gone up. I got it for 0.99% but they said it would not cost me 2.49%. Not only did they keep missing the mark by having hired someone who clearly didn't know what they were doing, not supervising properly, but trying to charge me more for a project that isn't going to finish. I'm glad for the tax law changes as otherwise I would have missed on the 26% credit because of them. Not doing business with them. Read the other reviews where the installs were completely botched. May have dodged a bigger issue here. Very disappointing.

Dear Mr, Ramin,
Firstly, we really apologize for the inconvenience you are facing with your ongoing project. Just for your clarification, we are stuck in the permitting process because this is not in our hands and definitely we have to follow the laws and regulations of the AHJ (Prince William County) permitting department. Codes changed in July so that's why we have to change our engineering plans and resubmit to permitting department. Anyhow your project is still in permitting process under prince William county. we followed up on weekly basis. We are trying our best to complete this project in a timely manner.

Thanks & Regards,
Solar SME Inc

RUN! Do NOT do ANYTHING with SolarSME! We began the process/contract signed in June2022, and were told it’d only be a couple months. We are now at December 2022 without a functioning system and as I type, am on hold at 6:51pm after they sent out an electrician who told me to my face they’d never installed solar batteries, and that SolarSME called them to do the install “because they needed bodies”, using the electrician’s words. I am on hold, as they came to commission the system, realized the battery was causing all circuits in their new panel to shut off- not trip, but completely lose power. The battery unit itself has now tripped 3 times and we are without power IN THE MAIN AREAS TGAT SHOULDVE BEEN ON EMERGENCY BACkUp. This is also after having two different HVAC furnaces and heat pumps, which we’d not had any issues with prior, go out SIMULTANEOUSLY after they installed the battery and new panel?! The system hasn’t even been commissioned, so Lord only knows what they’ve caused in my home! I am now being told they can get to me tomorrow! So I’m going to sit in my home with no electricity to the main areas of my home and have no heat because they blew the system!

We apologize that your project completion was delayed due to equipment unavailability. A lot of steps were involved in the project from site inspection to engineering, permits till installation, and then final commissioning which usually takes time. We have distinctive crews to install the battery backups rather than Solar, which we sent on to your site. All this happened on the same day when commissioning was going on and our technician left the site after ensuring the backup loads are working. But due to uncertain malfunctioning in the system, we sent our technician to your site very next day to rectify all the issues and made sure everything is up and running perfectly fine.
Also, it should be considered that recently the weather has changed and you had to kick in the furnaces. They must have been in error initially when you started to use them and these errors were reported after one and a half week cycle since the battery was installed. The batteries have performed exceptionally well during that time. As of now the system has been commissioned and working optimally without any error.
Moreover, our project manager called you after official hours at night, to ensure the batteries were turned down so that the power to back up the load panel is restored. We are always here to help you out and would ensure this problem never occurs again in future.

In terms of customer support and customer service, this is the worst company to use. After sisx months of installing my system, on 06/02/2022 I reported to Solar SME Inc that their solar panels are falling of my two-story building roof. Luckily, no one was outside when the panel fall of the roof, it could have been life threatning. Due to the damage caused by the fallen solar panels, my system has been operating at 50% capacity. Now three weeks after repoerting this issue Solar SME Inc. is yet to send a technician to come to my property and confrim that remaing panels are properly secured. My life and that of my family are in danger because of their sloppy work. If there's anything like a nagative star rating, I would have given them minus nine stars for endangering my life. If you plan to use them, bear in mind that your life could be in potential danger too. Be warned!

Not pleased with production compared to price. When I had issue it took weeks to resolve. Not sure my 25K investment actually works.

Solar SME voided my warranty and now will not fix the issues. A service / product is no good if the company does not stand behind their work.
