The Good

  • Multiple Financing Options
  • 25-Year Warranty
  • Referral Program
  • Custom Solar Systems
  • In-House Team of Installers
  • Solar Industry Certifications
  • Decades of Experience
  • Additional Services

Multiple Financing Options

Trinity Solar provides four financing options aimed at helping customers make the switch to solar: outright purchases, loan financing through a Trinity Solar partner, solar leases, and power purchase agreements. Each of these options are designed to help homeowners save money on their monthly payments from the utility company.

With a wide variety of options to choose from, customers have the ability to select a payment method that best helps them save on their electric bill and/or take advantage of the solar tax credit.

25-Year Warranty

Each residential solar system installed by Trinity Solar includes a 25-year warranty that covers the panels, inverter (by Solar Edge), and other equipment.

Trinity Solar also offers a 5-year workmanship warranty, which covers labor and the solar installation.

Referral Program

The solar power company provides the homeowner with a referral program to encourage them to help their family and friends make the switch to a solar power system. The referral bonus that is paid out to the referrer is currently set at $1000 for each friend or family member that installs with Trinity.

The referral fee is paid out once the referred friend or family member's system has been installed.

Custom Solar Systems

Trinity Solar understands that each customer has a unique home, lifestyle, and budget. As a result, the solar installer offers customized solar power systems designed to fit customer needs while maximizing performance and reducing energy costs. Whatever the system requirements, Trinity Solar is up to the job.

Additionally, Trinity Solar will handle all required permitting paperwork to make the installation process as smooth and efficient as possible.

In-House Team of Installers

Trinity prizes customer satisfaction. It's not uncommon for a solar company to outsource its system installations to a third party, which can result in miscommunication or shoddy workmanship.

However, when customers choose a solar panel installation with Trinity Solar, they can be confident that they will be dealing with a highly-trained, in-house group of solar installers who show up on time and get the job done right.

Solar Industry Certifications

Each of Trinity Solar's installers is licensed, North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) certified. NABCEP certification means the solar company adheres to high industry standards, and customers will be protected against predatory sales tactics throughout the entire process.

The solar installer is also Building Performance Institute (BPI) certified. These certifications are not easy to obtain and are positive indicators that Trinity Solar employees know what they are doing when it comes to installing solar panels.

Decades of Experience

Trinity Solar is one of the few solar providers with more than two decades of experience in the solar PV industry. The company has been in operation since 1994, has more than 1,800 employees; its installation crew meanwhile has completed over 70,000 solar panel system installations.

Additional Services

In addition to offering solar installations and financing, Trinity Solar also offers a variety of other services for residential customers, including energy auditing, roofing, electrical contracting, general contracting, solar repair and maintenance, and community solar.

The Bad

  • Limited Service Area

Limited Service Area

Trinity Solar currently services eight states in the northeastern United States: California, Delaware, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.

Customers who live elsewhere do not have the ability to do business with Trinity Solar and will need to work with another solar contractor.

The Bottom Line

Trinity Solar is a solar provider that has been in business for more than 25 years and performed thousands of solar installations. The company offers a 25-year equipment warranty and four financing options, including outright purchases, loans, solar leases, and PPAs, to help a variety of customers get started with renewable energy and begin saving money on their electricity bills.

However, Trinity Solar is limited in its state availability, which means that if you live outside of its service area, you'll have to find a different solar energy company to work with.

Ken Lovely Pottstown, PA

To start off this in an edited version of my original review. I was promised a $750 signing bonus that I finally received 5 or 6 months after installation. As it turns out my bonus slipped through the cracks. After discussing with their Director of Client Resources, Rachael G things got ironed out. The bothersome part was how long it took. But in the end with a little push, they fulfilled their promise in about a week after speaking with Rachael. The installation process was problem free; There were a couple visits from technicians doing site surveys. On installation day there were about 5 guys on the roof and two electricians hooking things up to my breaker box. Since it was beautiful day the guys were able to get everything completed in a single day which exceeded my expectations. The panels have been on the roof for about 6 months. I immediately noticed a difference in my electric bill. My summer electric bills were always more than $600. I am happy to say they dropped to less than $300. My autumn bills were always around $200 and now with solar they are less than $40. That is 1/5th of last year’s bill!!! It is clear to me the panels are doing their job. I am hopeful replacing my 20 year old AC will drop my summer bill as much as my Fall bills have dropped. It is important to mention Trinity Solar is not the lease holder, Sunova is. With that said, the lease payment is $100 that goes up ever year; which is the downside of the lease. By the end of the 25 year lease the payments will be $200 a month. The idea is you are betting the price of electricity will go up that much in 25 years. The thing that took me by surprise is there is not an effective way to get real time production data out of the system. For some reason Sunova reports the production data 48 hours in the rears. I find that odd. Considering there is an app from Solar Edge that other companies use to give consumers real time data. But that is not a Trinity issue, that is with Sunova. My rating for installation - 5 stars. The entire process was well orchestrated. My rating for operation of the panels themselves - 5 stars My rating for the lease and how it is structured - 3 stars – only because of how transfer of payment works when selling the house. My rating for them giving money for signing up during Covid-19 - 3 stars – Personally I did not like that I fell through the cracks. There should be systems in place to ensure your cliental is happy and got what they were promised.

Thank you for this feedback Ken. I'm so glad that we made your solar process process easy and that you're seeing the savings immediately! Our install bonus program was so successful that we found ourselves slightly backed up with the check process. However, we are still within the expected timeline for your check and it's headed out in the next batch. Congrats on going Solar!

Moussy Valley Stream, NY

I purchased solar panels for Trinity and I had issues with the producing electricity due to a malfunctioning of the system, ending up paying a substantial electrical bill to PSEG company. I contacted Trinity to chain the problem and to question why I was not informed when my system stopped producing, and I got no answer form them. I called the salesman who toiled me that I was my responsibility to check the system to insure proper functionality. He even set up an appointment to come to the house and checked it out. Guess what! He never came, no phone call no massy. Very disappointing. Customer service doesn’t exit. Company took their money and now we are left to deal with a system that works in/off. Buyer be aware!

After waiting about a month, we finally had our inspection scheduled, only to have their rep show up two & a half hours late. The local inspector could not hang around. Now I don't know when I will get my re-inspecting. I hear that some people have waited 3 months for the panels to be turned on. This was after the panels were installed early.

Helpful background on this company. We are considering this as a possible option to help reduce our energy costs. Owning it is not a viable option, but would consider other options.

Hi Darlene, I'm glad you were satisfied with your solar experience overall, but I understand that waiting on the required township and utility approvals put a damper on it for you. But now you've got years of solar savings ahead of you! So congratulations, your patience will pay off!
