How much does it cost to go solar with Solar SME?

There is no fixed cost for every solar panel system because the cost of a system depends on your electric usage, any incentives that you qualify for, what state you live in, and so on. But one thing is for sure — at Solar SME, there are absolutely no hidden or sudden costs. You pay the price that we quote to you. 

How long does it take for Solar SME to install a complete solar system?

Solar SME provides customized residential solar services with an install time of less than 12 weeks. However, there may be other factors that can delay the process such as utility companies and HOAs, since some jurisdictions take longer than others. 

What equipment brands does Solar SME use?

Solar SME is an authorized installer of Panasonic and also LG PRO Solar Partner Programme Authorized Partner. Solar SME was one of the choice I considered when using the energysage website to compare Solar installer company. I only dealt with the sales representative but when looking comparing, this company was on the top list when it comes to panels, inverters, and the cost. The sales representative, was excellent as to consistently keeping in touch to answer any question but also talked to me on his off-day to explain the quote.

The final design also took into account future requirements, such as electric vehicle charging and battery backup. Solar SME was the best bang for our buck. That's why we chose them. However, I am recommending them, because of the service end of the bargain. Andre L was my contact and was always ready to talk and explain the steps in the process and work through rectifying the minor bumps in the road that always occur with a job of this scale. The final product looks beautiful. Likely unrelated to Solar SME, but I wanted to share in case this is helpful for future buyers: The financing options are poor. Increasing the loan amount to get a better rate is not a wise decision. Pay off in one fell swoop if you can. Or find financing via a HELOC or refinance.

I had the pleasure of working with Zen who was my sales associate. This was my first time looking at a solar system for my home. He was very patient and took the time to explain the pros and cons of various systems they offered. I was able to get a great cash deal on a Qcell system that is now up and running…I am just amazed to see that I am not even dependent on the grid from the hours of 8:30am to almost 6pm….I did have to change electric providers that offers net metering to earn some valuable credits that will help get my bill super low..Anything gotta be lower than the $280-$330 I was paying..…I do have to mention that Solar SME was the only company honest about the tax credit and not lie and say it was a cash rebate…Many other companies I got quotes from said it was a rebate and I would get cash back from the government…So untrue…..It’s a credit towards your tax liability folks…Again Zen explained it properly and was very honest….I am so happy with the system and the work these guys did….definitely A+++++ in my books.

These guys did a great job with not only a timely and high quality install, but also with the contract setup and detailed design for our HOA. I had an independent contractor inspect the job and he said it was the best install he's ever seen. Highly recommend this company.

Following replacement of the 3G cellular communications card with a WIFI card in June 2022, I was no longer able to control my battery backup setting as I had previously. Consequently, with backup setting at 100%, the battery NEVER discharged resulting in increased usage of grid power and resulting higher electric bills. After multiple attempts to contact the manufacturer, SolarEdge, I was told that only the installer (SolarSME) could address the issue. After multiple attempts to contact SolarSME tech support, I finally talked to someone in Operations who referred me to Faris A. Faris contacted SolarEdge for guidance and within an hour had changed my account settings to give me the ability to control the battery backup setting. This is how customer support is supposed to work! Kudos to Faris!

Solar SME just finished the installation of our solar panels and it was a great experience. Everything was explained up front, with updates as the project progressed. Areej Y was our project manager and she did an excellent job of keeping everything on track. We were under a hard deadline to have the job completed in 2022 and this was a huge challenge due to shipping delays, trucks breaking down and inclement weather but through it all Areej, and the entire team did a great job. The installation was completed yesterday and they even had a tech out today (New Year’s Eve) Running system checks. If you are thinking about going solar, I would definitely check Solar SME.

We evaluated over 8 different solar companies, some using EnergySage.com and some that came to our house and did presentations. We ultimately selected SolarSME, who we worked with through EnergySage.com and have been very happy. The EnergySage.com platform made the sales process a breeze and once we selected SolarSME as our installer, they were great to work with. The sales process with Mike Brown at SolarSME was easy. He was very responsive and provided several different proposals as we changed our system requirements. Our project manager Emir was excellent. He is very knowledgeable, responsive, and professional. He kept us up to date with everything going on with the project. The install team did a great job and was respectful of our property. Overall, SolarSME did a great job. We had Solar SME design a project for our house. Initially, everything went well. Then we had to deal with PECO, our local utility company, who dragged out the timeline and made a few requests to change the design, one of which was a large change. This also reset the timeline for permits with PECO. Johan, our project manager, communicated everything with us and helped us through the process. He was not afraid to reach out to us via phone or text If he did not hear back from us. This was key at times given I do not have access to email at all times. We did end up with some changes to the original plan, but Johan worked with us to make sure we were taken care of, and all parties felt happy with the changes and final product.

Ruben did a great job with the design and communicating status updates throughout the process. I was impressed with the install team and how clean the wiring and conduit runs were. Once install kicked off it was only a little over a week that I had PTO from Oncor. Ruben stayed on top of the of the various city officials to receive the proper signoffs.

From the beginning of the process to the end, it was very nice working with Ryan F. He always promptly answered the phone and if he did not have an answer was always quick to get one. He helped us with financing, and we chose the higher interest option to avoid the large financing fee associated with the lower rate. I didn't have to worry about anything because he handled all the permits and any available rebates for me. There was a snag when the panels I had been quoted were on back-order, but he negotiated a compromise for some available panels and went with the brand and option I selected to replace the original. The material were ordered and delivered in a timely manner. They didn't sit in my garage for long. Once he assigned Frank as the lead installer, Frank came in and handled it like a boss. He knows his stuff, and he was willing to work with me to get the configuration I really needed for my large home to put what was necessary on the critical load panel. Unfortunately, there was a delay between the final installation test and the turning on of the system because some additional breakers had to be obtained. That delay caused the system to not fully update and set up. It took several days of close monitoring on my part, and several calls to Enphase support. But every time I called Enphase I got a different tech, and they were all amazing in their knowledge and getting down to business. The system is up and running and I couldn't be more thrilled. I'm a bit short on battery but should get through the winter with the setup I have. I will need to add an additional battery before the summer comes. No project of this size is without difficulties, but Solar SME and Enphase made sure everything got resolved to my satisfaction.

Our Solar Edge inverter broke on September 1. Since they do NOT service their products, it took us weeks to find someone to even diagnose the system. A team from New York Solar was finally able to meet with us to do the diagnosis. It was under warranty so that team got in contact with Solar SME who ordered the inverter from Solar Edge. After repeated requests from Basem at Solar SME to Solar Edge about the status of the order, the inverter had been shipped to us (of which we were not aware). I alerted Solar SME on Monday 10/24 that the inverter had arrived. Basem sent a team out the NEXT day and completed the replacement. We were very happy with their service and prompt action.

We decided to research and install solar earlier this year and chose Solar SME based on price and the quality of product they provided. I felt Aryan with the sales team was very upfront with me on the cost and financing options and the correlation of interest rates and loan set up fees. Once we decided on Solar SME and signed the contract we were switched to the project team and Ryan was our Project Manager. He was very attentive to our needs. The only negative for us was the time it took for Center Point to approve our installation, which I don't blame on him or Solar SME. Once we had our solar installed we got a very quick turnaround to get the Permission to Operate. The install team led by Frank was outstanding. Communicated clearly throughout and did a wonderful job.

I chose Solar SME because it had good reviews and based on the referral from my friend. They installed a 20 panel Aptos system to accommodate the most of my current consumption. The installation took 2 days with no problems so far. Rick H, the Project Manager is very responsive to address my concerns/requests every step of the way. I would recommend Solar SME to anyone interested in the installation of a solar system. They would handle the paperwork from pulling the permits from the Utility Company, City, County Office and the HOA. It was a pleasant experience to go solar with the quality service provider.

I chose Solar SME because it had good reviews with very few poor reviews. They installed a large (54 panel) system with battery backup. Some installation problems occurred along the way, but Solar SME constantly worked hard to overcome all problems. When a component was suspected to be defective, an Uber driver delivered a replacement part within six hours after the discovery. most often when I sent an email to the project leader, David, he would call me within minutes of my sending the email to discuss my concerns. After the detailed project plan was created, I checked the ratings of each component in the system. I was pleased to learn that the Panasonic solar panels were very highly rated and the Enphase system was very highly rated. I would recommend Solar SME to anyone interested in the installation of a solar system.

I went with Solar SME as they offered a strong warranty, provided the panels I was looking for, and had good pricing. I also appreciated the detailed quote and breakdown of expected performance that was supplied. My Project Manager for the installation was Rick H. While there was some initial communication issues, everything including permits from the City and Utility Company were delivered without any issues. Terry was my installer and he and his team did a great job with the installation and cleanup. I appreciated them taking their time to explain the different aspects of the system and electrical. They also rode out of their way to pick up the rail system which was delayed by FedEx in shipping. The only issue we have is one with a configuration with the electric measurement used by our home which should be fixed shortly by a follow up visit. Easily resolved and no major issues.

I found SolarSME through EnergySage and I am super happy with the end result! Sales: I felt that the package, warranty, equipment, and price were all the best fit. I worked with Ray C and couldn't say anything negative about the experience. He spent over an hour on our initial consultation appointment, thoroughly answering all my questions, never rushing me off the phone or to the next topic. He was the most honest of the sales people I talked to with one notable exception (see cons below). Very attentive and quick to respond to emails, but he balanced this well with not seeming super pushy either. He gave me time and respect to consider other options while not blowing up my phone with texts and calls and emails. Project: Rick, the project manager, has been wonderful and responsive all the way through the process. He took care of the plans, home inspection, permitting, and install. Their affiliates (inspector/installers, etc) have been super efficient and friendly. From the date that my contract was signed to the date my panels were installed was roughly 15 weeks. Just awaiting final building inspection. Can't wait to get the permission to operate and get the system switched on. Cons: -They subcontracted the work out despite saying it is their installers and that they have local warehouses. Maybe they do their own installs locally to Texas but I'm in PA. I do not feel this affected the job quality or scheduling but I would have respected the honesty approach more. -They asked me to store the panels in my garage before installation. Minor inconvenience, but I'm sure this also saved me on the project cost. -Both Sales and the project team were kind of desperate for reviews, but again, maybe saved in overall cost if they can do higher volume of business.

Choosing the right solar company can make for a wonderful or nightmare solar experience. Thankfully I choose a good one in Solar SME. Andrew and Basem Y got me system up and running on and older house with a couple of challenges they worked through. I had just put a brand new roof on my property and Solar SME was able to offer my a warranty where they had to install the panels which made it a easier decision for me. Basem and Tom the installer also helped get to a few installation bugs and were very professional and courteous throughout the process.

Ultimately, I decided not to pursue solar power, but that had to do with the technology and price, together with the unfortunately high interest rates due to the economy. My decision had nothing to do with the support I got from Josh, as he was excellent. I would highly recommend him.

This review is for the initial experience of the quoting/proposal stage. We just signed the contract and are starting the process. So far so good. Solar SME’s initial proposal was sound and their response to my initial modification request was quick and accurate. Their combination of equipment, guarantee and price one the day. They weren’t the absolute cheapest but the combination of factors provided the best overall. Ray C (my consultant) was quick and concise. Not too much fluff or pressure update post install and operation: Solar SME was easy to work with, delivered what they said they would in a timely manner. Michael the project manager was to the point, got the job done and has been very responsive to a couple of service inquiries after install. The construction lead (Frank I believe) was outstanding in his communication and work ethic. Another update approx 1 year later: Everything is going well with the system. Anytime a component goes down (usually a micro inverter not reporting) my contact Basem Y responds to me email with in a hour or so and has the system running like it should. The service with this company has exceeded expectations and I hope they continue to grow and thrive.

Solar SME had done an excellent job or scheduling the shipment and installation of the solar panels. However, five of the solar edge panels were broken in shipping. Identical panels were not available on the market, so the project was not complete at the initial installation. Solar edge has now provided a different type of panel to replace the broken ones, and they have given instructions on how to make them work. While a number of different things have been tried, the current situation is not functioning adequately. Solar SME is waiting for new instructions from Solar Edge to get this new configuration to work.

I finally turned on my solar system last week and I am very happy! I would like to say thank you to the project manager Mario A; he seemed to truly care (5 out of 5 in customer service). He responded quickly to email/text messages and took care of the planning, permits, scheduling, and everything in between. I also want to give a shout out to the install crew; Dejay and the team did an excellent job. We had some early communication hiccups regarding panels and financing, but that was ironed out. The process also took a bit longer than I hoped because my roof needed repairs and some weather delays. Ultimately, Solar SME delivered a great solar system on my roof. Thank you.

Was a little worried upfront. Can’t really complain about anything as the panels are up. Areas were kept clean. Crew was thorough and process went pretty quick once started. Price wasn’t too bad either considering the size of my system.
