Panasonic is a manufacturing company based in Japan. Founded in 1918 by Matsushita Denki Sangyō Kk, Panasonic originally was designed for electric appliances and consumer electronic products. Initially, these include products such as lamp sockets and plugs. The company was not officially incorporated until 1935 when production and operations really began to take off.
During this period of rapid growth, Panasonic was responsible for mass producing irons, radios, phonographs, and light bulbs before ultimately transitioning into newer technologies like transistor radios, television sets, tape recorders, stereo equipment, and large household appliances including microwave ovens, air conditioners, and videotape recorders.
Over the last 25 years, Panasonic has invested in its solar development creating products and equipment that are used all over the world by residential, commercial, and industrial clients alike. Panasonic dealers across the United States are trained and capable of installing and connecting Panasonic solar panels.
The Panasonic solar panel series is called Panasonic EverVolt and includes nine different models with varying strengths and price points:
It is important to note that there are different performance specifications for each Panasonic EverVolt model.
Panasonic falls on the more affordable side, sometimes costing thousands of dollars less than its competition. While there are performance metrics to consider when evaluating the price point, as a general rule, Panasonic EverVolt solar panels are more budget-friendly and affordable than their counterparts.
Panasonic EverVolt solar panels are known for their reliable and consistent energy production due to their HIT (heterojunction) solar cells. These solar cells are found in the actual solar modules that utilize an advanced technology to retain more power than those compared to conventional crystalline cells. These HIT solar cells are made of a thin, silicon layer that is essentially sandwiched in between two thin amorphous silicon layers. This make-up allows for consistent production and efficient performance. The solar cells found in the EverVolt series are smaller and are found to lower heat losses which also increase efficiency.
Most prospective solar panel buyers are fairly interested in what warranties and forms of protection are available on the equipment being installed. Panasonic has done a quality job of ensuring that the equipment is properly protected throughout the majority of the lifespan of the panels. Panasonic offers a full 25-year product warranty and includes a clause regarding defects. This addition is not included in many solar panels, despite there being a chance for defects in nearly all panels mass produced.
In the last few years, Panasonic stopped manufacturing its own solar panels. That work has been outsourced to a third-party manufacturer, but all equipment will still be branded as Panasonic.
While this does not mean that the solar panels will not work as designed, there is no guarantee that the solar panels will match the same quality as when they were produced directly by Panasonic. As the solar branch of the company continued to grow, Panasonic saw this as the only way to continue mass producing its equipment. Other manufacturers are still able to produce their own solar panels in-house.
With so many models and series to choose from when it comes to the Panasonic EverVolt branch, it only makes sense that specifications and performance metrics vary. It is impossible to make claims about efficiency as there are varying levels of efficiency and ratings depending on what solar panel the homeowner decides to have installed. Most manufacturers try to offer two to three panel options with similar efficiency rates. Panasonic EverVolt customers will have to look deeper than that depending on what solar panel they choose to go with.
Panasonic has worked to produce a solar panel that is both accessible and dependable for residential solar clients. There are a number of Panasonic EverVolt models to choose from, so Panasonic likely has a solution for your property. As for accessibility, the Panasonic EverVolt series is one of the more affordable solutions on the market. Even with a number of models to choose from, Panasonic EverVolt models consistently produce converted energy at a reliable rate. The Panasonic warranties offer a defect protection clause, something not commonly covered by other competitors.
Despite offering a more affordable solar panel solution, there are drawbacks to purchasing Panasonic EverVolt solar panels. For prospective buyers, it should be noted that all Panasonic solar panels are manufactured by a third party. While these are trusted manufacturing partners, Panasonic manufacturing plants themselves do not produce EverVolt panels. There are also some variations in efficiency ratings depending on what model of Panasonic EverVolt a homeowner decides to purchase and have installed.
Solar panel customers in the market for affordable residential panels with multiple options to choose from will likely benefit from what Panasonic provides through its EverVolt series. That being said, there are efficiency questions regarding specific panel models prospective buyers should be aware of.
