The Good

  • Free Consultation
  • Customer Satisfaction
  • Depth of Experience

Free Consultation

Hatfield Law offers a free consultation or case review. This can be done in-person or over the phone. Other lawyers often charge a fee just to meet with clients to determine whether or not there is a valid case and how to move forward. This free consultation or case review is very helpful to clients and shows the firm’s dedication to their best interest.

Chapman Injury Lawyers, another nearby firm, also provides free consultation but in a text message format — which may be even more convenient to some customers.

Customer Satisfaction

On the company’s website are testimonials of actual results secured, including multimillion dollar awards, criminal charges dropped, and custody cases won. In addition, while there are not many customer reviews available online, every one of them is 5 stars.

Customers often only post reviews when there is something to complain about, so having clients motivated enough to write about positive experiences with the firm is a good sign.

Depth of Experience

David has been practicing law since 1980 and his son, Ryan, served as a deputy prosecutor and a state representative in the Indiana General Assembly. This duration and depth of experience provides clients with lawyers who have been there, done that — definitely what is needed for complex legal matters.

Additionally, the firm offers a clear FAQ section and a couple of free downloadable guides on the company website, which helps answer questions about the process and also reflects on the experience level of the team.

The Bad

  • Few Reviews
  • Fewer Resources
  • Regional Focus

Few Reviews

While all the customer reviews are very positive, there are not many available. It would be useful for the company to provide a space on the website itself where clients could post real-time reviews, and demonstrate a level of transparency that would be unique in the industry.

For example, Schnepper Law, another local firm, provides case summaries on the company website, which helps clients have a clearer picture of the firm’s offerings.

Fewer Resources

As a smaller firm with two lawyers, Hatfield Law may not have as many resources as larger firms. When clients choose a national or multi-region firm, like Cooley, Davis, Wright, or Tremaine, the chain of offices can draw on the experience and availability of a large number of lawyers.

For cases with complexities beyond the norm, this could be a disadvantage of working with a smaller firm.

Regional Focus

Because Hatfield is only licensed in three states — Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky — clients who have legal matters in those three states can benefit, whereas clients in other locations will need to find a larger firm with a presence that can manage paperwork and appearances, while understanding state or region-specific law.

The Bottom Line

Hatfield Law hits the nail on the head for all local and regional needs in the Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois area — the areas of the country in which the firm practices. The online presence (company site and Facebook) promises clear value, a no fee guarantee, and ease of initiating services through a free consultation. Clients with legal needs at this scope are certain to benefit; however, for complex multi-region issues, customers may wish to contact a firm with a larger geographic footprint.

Willow W.K. Wallace McMinnville, OR

Extremely grateful for Chad H and his hard work and determination. Given my case had the typical difficulty that all ssd cases have, I unfortunately added more difficulty with a move out of state and name change among other things, and Mr H never backed down. My first trial the power went out where the judge was located ending my trial without me being allowed a fair chance at the trial -the judge just automatically denied my case. Mr H then took my case to federal court. After 7years of trial and waiting Mr H successfully won my case with 7 years of back pay. And doing so by working with judges from other states that he had no experience with. Hatfield law has always been very easy to work with taking on all the stress and making my part of it all painless and stress free. New diagnosis and findings were easy to submit, communication with my doctors was done in timely manner and added successfully to my trial. I would highly recommend Mr H
