The Good

  • Free version
  • No ads
  • In-depth tutorial
AceMoney is a downloadable software system for personal financial management. Through its budgeting resource, the Ace Money platform has helped their customers see an increase in their savings while attacking overwhelming amounts of debt. AceMoney's personal finance management program is offers both a free "Lite" version, and the full version, which is a purchase of the software license for $39.99. Some of AceMoney's highlight are:
  • Free "AceMoney Lite" version
  • No ads
  • Tutorial
  • Calendared bills
There are no ads in the program, and the sign up process is virtually painless. Select the software that is best for the situation, and download a free trial. No personal information or credit card information needed. Once downloaded, there is a tutorial that explains how to use the program. Upon first visit, a sample account is loaded, showing off the features. Ace Money is very user-friendly software, with categorized spending and calendared bills.

The Bad

  • Not a SaaS
  • Limited accounts
  • Limited alerts
Ace Money is downloadable software that must be installed on your computer. Its lack of availability for use on a web browser (SaaS) means you must use memory on your computer for the program rather than an online server, limiting your access to the program. Ace Money doesn't alert customers of things like unusual spending on their account, high or low balances, budget limits, and bill reminders. Other common concerns include:
  • Only two accounts on free version
  • Not SaaS
  • Few mobile apps
  • Few reminders and alerts
While it is a plus that AceMoney offers a free version, you can only set up two accounts with the "Lite" version. If you have more than two accounts you want to integrate into your finance management system, you will have to upgrade to the paid version of the software. There are few mobile app options for the Ace Money software. There is a free Android app, and Windows Mobile users can purchase software for $20.00 that allows tracking receipts while out and about, to be synced when you return back home. AceMoney currently does not offer any apps for iOS systems or tablets. While some of the software options include mobile finance tracking, alerts aren't sent out for low balance, overage usage, etc. Additionally, there aren't options for personal financial coaching or free credit scores.

The Bottom Line

This software covers the basics of money management but has a very outdated interface, and limited automatic integration. While this is not a bad option for those looking for basic personal finance software, we would recommend other programs with better functionality and more user-friendly designs. Those that use Ace Money can expect the following from the platform:
  1. Free version
  2. Helpful tutorial
  3. Not SaaS compatible
  4. No alerts

I finally found an alternative to Quicken in the UK that works on Windows 10. I prefer downloadable apps for finances and AceMoney is a fantastic, simple home accounting package. If anything it is simpler to use than Quicken plus you can download old QIF, QDF files. A great little application that will not break the bank. I have tested many and this is the best

I have always used ms money. But as it now lacks support, I have found that acemoney is exactly what I want. Very easy to use especially if you have been used to ms money. Just don't expect too much from it. What it does do is excellent.

I have been using it for a decade already. It does its job very well. User interface is clean, straightforward and uncluttered. Wish it would be on my android phone instead of having to use my laptop.

Nathaniel Haggard ,

To me, I think that this and other similar softs require too much effort for tracking the expenses. Like it makes the whole experience more time consuming and meaningless. Refused using it after a few week of trying and switched to mobile apps.

I bought Ace Money several months ago and used it with some success until I downloaded a new system software for which Ace Money was not compatible. If you are a Macintosh user and are using the Catalina software (10.15.3 or later), Ace Money will not work until you make extraordinary changes including going to Terminal and entering code. It's a shame because I liked the Ace Money because I could enter data and not link it to a bank for automatic download. I felt like I had more control over access to the data. So, if you are a Mac user, just look elsewhere. I've asked for a refund, but am waiting for a reply.

I do not like that you have to click on "New transaction" every single time you want to enter a transaction. It would be so much easier if the transaction field is left open and you can just enter another without having to click on the "New transaction", very frustrating when dealing with multiple accounts and entries.

Recently purchased ACE Money as Quicken went to annual subscription fee. Was able to copy all history over to ACE but cannot direct connect with Bank of America. Neither of the solutions offered by MechCad (ACE) have solved the problem and they now are not responding to requests for a solution of our money back.

Gets all screwed up at the first hurdle.....currency, get a life and get out of US $'s, there's more in the world. I give it 0 rating. Avoid and go back to pen and paper.

Looks really old and dated...needs a huge makeover. Slightly overpriced, also.
