IXL offers some of the lowest prices in the industry for online tutoring. Prices start at $13.95 per month. IXL also offers different tutoring packages to help students choose a plan that fits their needs. This includes monthly or yearly options, or packages for families with multiple students. IXL caters to many different tutoring situations, all at affordable prices.

Four Core Subjects Offered

IXL provides tutoring for four of the basic subjects which include math, social studies, language arts, and science. Each of these subjects is then broken down into different categories by grade. Each grade level provides a list of materials that are common to that grade's curriculum. This helps students study the specific materials that they are struggling with and can help them accomplish their academic goals.

Limited Communication Tools

IXL lacks some of the basic communication tools offered by competitors. For example, IXL does not provide any online chats or video conferences for students to ask questions. Also, students do no have access to whiteboard, an online shared space for students to collaborate with other students on different subject matters. Students also do not have access to filing sharing.

No Live Tutors

IXL is an online platform for students to self-guide their way through different subject matters and skills. Students independently guide their own learning. IXL does not provide in-person or online communication with live tutors.

Limited Subjects

IXL focuses on math, language arts, social studies and science. Students seeking help in other subjects will need to seek other tutoring companies.
