TexasLawHelp has been online since 2002 and is the statewide legal aid website for Texas. It is dedicated to providing free, reliable legal forms and information to low-income Texans. In 2016 more than 1.5 million users accessed Texas Law Help.
A tab called "Legal Help" contains links to information on a variety of areas including the type of legal aid organizations can provide, law firm and lawyer referral, legal clinics that off free legal advice, non-profit organizations, and FAQ's regarding legal assistance.
The referral service provides information on centers, clinics, bar associations, and attorney offices in your area. You can narrow your search by county (within the state of Texas) and the legal topic you need assistance with. Areas of assistance include:
While other legal services charge per document or require a subscription, TexasLawHelp offers free online legal forms. Every document comes with a toolkit that includes instructions on filing, frequently asked questions, and articles regarding that area of law.
TexasLawHelp offers all of its website information, including documents, in the Spanish language. This is a big plus considering the size of the Hispanic population in Texas.
TexasLawHelp offers multiple resources to help its customers. The “Ask A Question” section is a helpful resource for those who do not understand or have questions regarding their legal case. You can choose from the following resources:
Unfortunately, TexasLawHelp does not provide the prices for its legal center, bar association, and lawyer referral service. Those needing legal representation will find it helpful if prices were available.
TexasLawHelp is currently available in the state of Texas only. If you need legal help in a different state you will need to find a company that offers legal services in your area.
I've needed legal information on several occasions over the past few years, and I'm ALWAYS referred back to this place, which is completely useless and a waste of time. I get the SAME response from Texas Law Help as I do from the government agencies that claim they handle the issues I'm having....and I get the exact SAME cop-out response from ALL of them, "there's nothing we can do"!!! Worthless, useless, and I have no idea HOW this place stays in business, if the only response they know is "there's nothing we can do"!!!
