Designed by Zach Schleien, Filter Off is a blend of speed-dating and FaceTime. Every night at 9 P.M., users participate in three 60-second video chats. After each video chat, users can either give a thumbs up or a thumbs down. If a thumbs up is selected, a match is created. Users can either record a video message or video call their match.

Filter Off promises members that they will never have to pay to connect with others. This is an awesome feature as few online dating companies allow members to connect without paying some sort of fee or signing up for a premium membership.
Filter Off may offer products and services that members can buy through the App Store, Google Play, etc., but these are not required, and the app can still be used without them.

Users only have 60 seconds to get to know a potential match; however, being able to see a face and knowing that there is a real person behind the profile is a comforting thought.

Filter Off prioritizes its users' safety. If a member feels uncomfortable at any point during a conversation or a date acts inappropriately, daters can “X” out of the chat at any time. The app encourages members to report any inappropriate conduct, and the company promises to take swift action.

Filter Off is for online daters who are tired of swiping, back and forth messaging, fake profiles, and catfishing schemes. The app appeals to both young and mature daters as it is a fantastic blend of traditional and modern dating. Members can date from the safety of their home but get that face-to-face interaction missing from the online dating scene.
However, Filter Off has not been in the online dating industry for very long and is currently only available to New York City residents (meaning a smaller dating pool). While the company plans on expanding, there is no specific timeline and users could be waiting a while before the app is available in their city.
Overall, Filter Off is a simple yet effective platform with a lot of positive features. Perhaps the most notable feature is that users don’t have to pay to connect which is uncommon for online dating sites.
