A major benefit of selecting the University of Phoenix to further your education is that it offers all degree levels including. associate, bachelor's, master's, and even doctoral degree programs online. Traditionally master's and doctoral degree programs were limited and on-campus programs only. However, University of Phoenix, makes it convenient for anyone to further their educational goals and to meet the needs of a wide range of professionals.Variety of Programs
Another benefit of the University of Phoenix is its wide range of online program options. There are 16 associates and certificate programs are offered in the fields of criminal justice, business, and information technology. It offers 41 bachelor's degree programs with some in the fields of English, management, and communication. University of Phoenix also offers 35 master's degree programs in the fields of psychology, information technology, and management, to name a few. Nine doctoral programs are also offered with emphases in education, health administration, and management. All of these program offerings are specific to completing education solely online.Credit For Work Experience
The University of Phoenix allows its students to apply credit from completed work experience to an associate or bachelor's degree. The Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) process requires that students be admitted and speak with an Academic Advisor to see if previous experience could qualify for university credit. A professional training portfolio and an experiential learning essay is required in order to qualify for credits. Students must also pay a submission fee. This is a great way in order to earn credits towards your program at less than half the cost per credit. Keep in mind that completing an application for PLA and paying the submission fee does not guarantee that you will receive credit.The Bad

A downside to pursuing your education at University of Phoenix is that it doesn't have a dedicated Career Services department for its students At least, job placement services are not known. A job search tool is available to those who join the Alumni Association, but this may come at an inconvenience to you, if you are hoping to jump into new employment as soon as you have completed your degree.Program Pricing Varies
Another negative aspect of University of Phoenix is that pricing varies based on the program selected. Prospective students are asked to meet with a Finance Advisor to learn more about expenses and options for paying for school.
