The Bad

  • Lack of Several Online Degree Programs
  • No Credit for Work Experience
  • Tuition is Identical for On-Campus and Online Classes

No Online Associate or Doctoral Degrees Available

Several of the top universities offering online degree programs offer a wider range of degrees and/or certificate programs than Everglades University. The institution only offers Bachelor of Science and Master's Degrees in its online portfolio, limiting its students' choices.

Lack of Several Online Degree Programs

As stated earlier, many degrees yield to an online option better than others. Often found in a university's online programs are degrees in nursing, psychology, computer science, and education. Everglades University does not offer any of these programs online or at one of its brick-and-mortar campuses.

No Credit for Work Experience

Many of those who consider pursuing an online degree are considered nontraditional students. For obvious reasons, the appeal of being able to enroll in classes with the ability to be flexible around work and family demands is appealing. Many of these individuals may have logged considerable practical time in the field which they are pursuing, bringing an added depth of their knowledge base. Most of the leading online universities offer students the ability to shorten their enrollment via credit for their work experience, which is often exhibited by the student scoring a passing grade on an examination. This options saves time and money for students. Everglades University does not offer work experience credit for its students.

Tuition is Identical for On-Campus and Online Classes

The difference in cost between a degree earned at a traditional brick-and-mortar institution and one that operates strictly online is the perception that online degrees are always less expensive. Some exploration by experts suggest that there are more hidden fees for the added technology costs associated when students are enrolled in online classes. As a general rule, the tuition costs for online programs varies from that of traditional course delivery. This is not the case with Everglades University.

The Bottom Line

Everglades University is very transparent with its fees and policies. The University offers several programs that are typically not found available from online degree programs. While the university has some limitations and reasons that could cause prospective students not to seriously consider submitting an application.
