Several Programs From Which to Choose

Students looking for flexible options for their degree have the option of doing online programs for their Associate degree (3), Bachelor's degree (44), Master's Degree (49), or Doctoral degree (20). The online degrees offered by Colorado Technical University are in the following fields: Business, Computer Science, Psychology, and Nursing.

Flexible Program Options

One of the primary reasons that online degrees are growing is the student's ability to adjust their school schedule to balance with their work and family demands. Colorado Technical University offers students of its online programs the ability to do their coursework when they are able. It is important to note that online classes maintain a schedule and deadlines, much like courses taken traditionally; students are able to determine when they do the work in the day, rather than being tied to a specific block of time during which their classes meet. Course requirements vary for each class. CTU has developed a robust mobile app so that students enrolled in online classes have even more flexibility, allowing them to take courses right on their mobile device. This app has been widely acclaimed and recognized as being able to bring college courses to the palm of a student's hand. Colorado Technical University's mobile app is available for Android and iOS devices.

Multiple Award-Winning Programs

Colorado Technical College has been recognized as being one of the better online universities by US News and World Report, the International Graduate Forum, Elearning, and the WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies. Additionally, CTU has been recognized as one of the best online programs for veterans.

Career Assistance Available

Graduates of any of Colorado Technical University's online degrees are eligible for career placement assistance. Assistance is available to all graduates, regardless if they graduated five weeks or five years ago.

CTU Fast Track™

CTU students are able to cut their tuition costs and graduate up to 30 percent by utilizing the CTU Fast Track™ program. This program allows students to receive college credit by passing an examination based upon the contents of a required course, saving time and money.

The Bad

  • Below National Graduation Rate

Below National Graduation Rate

There is considerable discussion among authorities about the criteria to rate a university's online degree program's graduation rate. US News and World Report states that the average online graduation rate is defined by how many of its students graduate from the program within six years of enrolling. The national average for graduation from online degree programs using this criteria is 60 percent (2015). During the same time period, CTU reported that its graduation rate for its online degree programs was 23 percent.

The Bottom Line

For students looking for an online option in one of Colorado Technical University's offered programs, the university is a good choice. Tuition costs for online courses are reasonable and very competitively priced. The university has been a leader in online education since 1995. Students can take course with their mobile device using CTU's mobile app. Those looking for a certificate program or degree in fields such as economics, biology, political science, communications, or English language and literature will not be able to find programs at CTU and would find more appropriate programs at another institution.

Hank Denver, CO

It is stunning that their coursework is accredited. Their technical writing course is now a community organizer course. There is zero instruction given on technical writing, and all the assignments are about writing letters for organization a community festival. There is zero technical writing involved.
