The Good

  • Open Enrollment
  • Specialized Health Care Programs

Open Enrollment

American Career College is open enrollment, which means students can continuously apply to their programs. This allows for some flexibility for students. Their programs are accredited and recognized by employers as well.

Specialized Health Care Programs

American Career College is extremely specialized. The institution solely focuses on the healthcare industry and helps graduates qualify for positions in the health profession. While American Career College is not a medical school, they do offer programs that help graduates work in a variety of healthcare capacities. Programs offered include:

  • Medical Assistant
  • Dental Assisting
  • Surgical Technology
  • Optical Technician
  • Massage Therapy
  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Vocational Nursing
  • Medical Billing and Coding
  • Health Information Technology
  • Physical Therapist Assistant
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Radiography

ACC helps students receive their education in a relatively short period of time and qualify for health-related positions. American Career College offers a number of services to help their graduates get a job in their area of study upon graduation.

The Bad

  • Program Limitations
  • Average Job Placement Rate

Program Limitations

While American Career College has the ability to put students on a fast-paced track to employment, there are things prospective students should be aware of prior to enrolling in an ACC program. These concerns include the following:

  • Limited degree options (only AS and BS degrees offered)
  • Only healthcare related programs offered
  • No online option

Average Job Placement Rate

Despite providing a number of services to their students and graduates regarding job placement, their job placement rate upon graduation is relatively low. While the job placement rate of the most recent class came in at 66%, a majority of their graduating classes job placement rates hovered around 50%-62%.

The Bottom Line

Although American Career College is a for-profit university, they do not offer complete online options at this time. Most for-profit universities do offer online degrees, but with the technical and medical aspect of their speciality, American Career College is unable to make that transition at this time.

Prospective students interested in earning a medical-related degree and wish to enroll in American Career College will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Contact Admissions Advisor
  2. Submit admissions form
  3. Take the Wonderlic SLE entrance evaluation
  4. Take additional evaluations related to specific program

The application process can be completed online.
