The Bad

  • Service Area
  • Varying Warranties

Service Area

1-800-Hansons has expanded its service area to cover a number of states found in the Midwest region of the United States. While the company originated in Michigan, it currently offers window replacement services in the following states:

  • Illinois
  • Michigan
  • Ohio
  • Wisconsin
  • Wyoming

While this is a larger geographical area than some of its window replacement competitors, 1-800-Hansons does not compete with those that provide window solutions on a national scale. Homeowners outside of these states will have to look elsewhere for replacement windows and installation.

Varying Warranties

Most window replacement providers will advertise in some way that the windows it installs are backed by a lifetime guarantee. 1-800-Hansons is no different, placing its lifetime guarantee badge wherever it can to be seen by interested clients.

However, a deeper dive into the 1-800-Hansons warranty structure shines a different light. The coverage or warranty a homeowners will receive entirely depends on what "series" of window is selected.

For homeowners that purchase the "classic series", those products will only be backed by a 5 year limited warranty. "Deluxe series" customers will receive a limited lifetime guarantee on the workmanship and products themselves. The best coverage is reserved solely for "premium series" clients where the transferable lifetime guarantee is applied.

The Bottom Line

1-800-Hansons offers a wide range of window types to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of homeowners. The actual structure of the 1-800-Hansons window product are some of the best in the industry making it an elite replacement window solution. There are also different window "series" that homeowners can choose from providing some customization to the replacement window process. Finally, 1-800-Hansons can install a wide range of window types bolstering aesthetic performance.

Despite offering  a number of quality products and services, there are downsides to working with 1-800-Hansons for its window services. The geographic service area is restricted to certain states within the Midwest making it less accessible than other providers. The warranty coverage will also entirely depend on what product is used in the installation.

Overall, what makes 1-800-Hansons windows different is their commitment to quality, energy efficiency, customization options, expert installation, warranty protection, and customer satisfaction. With their exceptional products and services, homeowners can trust 1-800-Hansons to deliver superior value and performance for their window replacement needs.

It's been over 12 months and Hansons' window project at our house is still incomplete. We asked them to replace 6 windows and the physical project started Oct 2023. Working with them has been one of the worst and most expensive experiences to date! After more than 10 visits to re-do, repair their work and/or replace parts...and after chasing them immeasurable times via phone and email, we're now down to one window still not locking. Tech Ryan lied to his manager that the work was done during this latest visit to our home 10/22/24. After working at our home for about 3 hours, he angrily pushed his way in front of us which forced one of us into a closed in area by the window only to see that the window truly still did NOT lock. He further acted in hostility toward us by raising his voice about the number of times he's been to our house and the drive he had on his return home, although the windows not working have nothing to do with us as a customer AND we're the ones who have had to take time off work to accommodate their long visits times over the past 12 months. He snarkily said that the sash would have to be replaced AGAIN. He then hastily grabbed all his equipment, stormed down the stairs, hitting our walls along the way and slammed our front door as he left. After this hostile engagement and still no project completion, he had the audacity to lie to his manager that the job was done and proclaim some sort of physical altercation. That is absurd especially since he was hostile towards us. We had no reason to be mad at him, he is an employee-not company owner. That false claim only adds more insult to injury. Who treats customers this way, especially after over 12 months on a project that should be one and done?! This is a very expensive job, not only due to Hanson's price but also the lost money in lost work time on our end. Hansons' has many similiar poor reviews, besides the 5 stars they allow on their self-reporting website, of course.
